Description
The king's taxes bleed the people dry. And those who can't pay, burn.
N'Halia is rescued from the burning ruins of her home by Hermit, a vagabond Shadow Spinner. They flee under the cover of Darkness and she joins him on his mysterious quest. Along the way, Hermit teaches her to fight and unlock her true Power. Her Power is far more destructive than she ever knew - to herself and her enemies.
N'Halia earns her way by fighting in the gladiatorial bloodsport. In the arena, anything goes. Shadow, Fire, Lightning, Ice, blunt force trauma - they're all just different ways to die...
She trains to be the strong enough to wreak her revenge, even as she begins falling for Talla, a woman who can Produce Sound. But as N'Halia is pulled deeper into Hermit's struggle against powerful ancient forces, she is torn between destiny, revenge, love - and the cost of all three.
“You’re Tingling with rage. I can feel it, like static in the air before a storm...
I hope you survive long enough to find out what comes after.”

This was a strong start to the Dome series, it had that element that I wanted and enjoyed the overall feel that I was looking for. The characters were everything that I wanted and enjoyed the overall concept that I wanted. It left me wanting to read more in this series and glad I read this. Eric Kao wrote this perfectly and can’t wait for more.
