A Note From the Publisher

Lisanne Norman was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and has lived in the USA since 2004.
"Strong-willed, independent, a whirlwind, a dreamer, she lives in another world." These phrases followed her around from her earliest days. They were partly right: she had grander plans than a world, though, she was already creating the universe of the Sholan Alliance, where Magic, Warriors, and Science all co-exist.
She began writing when she was eight because she couldn't find enough of the books she liked to read. How difficult can it be to write them myself, she thought with all the confidence of a child. After all, the libraries were full of books. It must be easy.
Real life took over as she entered college and began to work for the first time, but thanks to the constant nagging of two very good friends, one of whom is the sister of her editor, she finished a novel she'd started back in 1979. It was called Turning Point, and her friend's sister at DAW bought it. The Sholan Alliance Series is now nine novels long. She also has several short stories out in DAW anthologies, and one in Defending the Future series number IV, No Man's Land called "Valkyries".
