No reason given. In Washington Steve is asked to joins a team created to investigate the raging presidential scandal. Steve, intrigued, accepts, regarding it as a nice distraction, not even imagining the dangers lurking in the background. Following the money trail, he notices suspicious coincidences, and soon finds evidence of fraud committed at a New York bank. When a key suspect at the bank is murdered, a tip from a surprising source leads Steve and Claire, another team member, to Switzerland where they meet with a person who can shed light on the affair. However the meeting is cut short when assassins kill the informer and attempt to kill Steve and Claire. Following his hunches, Steve soon encounters more dangers and resistance even from people who supported him. Will he be able to complete his quest, or will he die trying?
