Description
When
Jenny Wright's fiancé leaves her standing at the altar in a Vera Wang
bridal gown she can't afford, she's humiliated and heartbroken. To have
Marietta hero bull riding champ Colton Thorpe witness her shame - makes
the rejection even more devastating.
Jenny
and Colton grew up in the same rough neighborhood and they both left
home right after school to pursue big dreams. Now they're both back,
with Colton as the celebrity chair for the 75th Copper Mountain Rodeo,
and Jenny in disgrace.
Sexy,
rugged Colton didn't get to be a national champion by chance. He's a
man that takes risks and goes after what he wants. During the rodeo
weekend, Colton makes it clear he wants Jenny. Flustered but flattered,
Jenny finds it difficult to resist his charm. But what happens when the
rodeo ends and Colton leaves town? Will
she dare to dream again?

“These short and sweet novellas are a perfect dose of love, romance, and
hot dates! The familiar small town is the perfect backdrop to the
larger-than-life cowboys who live in its mountain’s shadow. Readers of
cowboy romances will enjoy meeting the residents of Marietta, where the
days are rough and rugged and the nights are hot and steamy!”

Charles is a prince. Hey, why marry the cow when you can have the cow for a salary?
Both Colton and Jenny's mothers were depressing.
Holy hotness. Who knew ordering food could be foreplay?
I liked that he went after her when they fought in the car after lunch.
His vision of his future sounds wonderful.
The romance seems a little fast, but not if you believe in love at first sight. And plus, she loved him as a child.
The epilogue makes you do a double-take.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Take Me, Cowboy by Jane Porter is an absorbing novella that I could not put down. The first chapter drew me into this entertaining romance with the primary characters being likeable, complex and real. This is an intense and impassioned read that kept me engaged from beginning to end.
Executive Assistant extraordinaire, Jenny Wright, is back in her hometown of Marietta Montana, looking beautiful in her bridal attire as she prepares to walk down the aisle. Unfortunately, it is at this time that Charles, her husband-to-be and boss, decides that he does not want to get married. Working with her and living together is just fine, but marriage is not. Of course Jenny is upset and feels like her entire future has been swept out from under her. However, when the man she has crushed on since she was able to walk finds her on the sidewalk crying, things begin to look up.
Colton Thorpe is a well known bull-rider and the small town of Marietta considers him to be a hero. He is back in town for the rodeo and to visit with his family. Colton was the resident bad boy in high school and left immediately after graduation in order to pursue his dreams, just like Jenny. When he sees a gorgeous bride sobbing on the street, he has no choice but to see if he can be of any help.
Jenny has always been in love with Colton and due to her break-up, they end up getting together. Their chemistry is unique and magnetic, especially considering the circumstances that brought them together. Ms. Porter does an amazing job of evolving their relationship from friends into lovers.
This is the first book I have read by Ms. Porter and it certainly won't be the last. I was able to truly visualize and understand Jenny's poorest of the poor upbringing, due to Ms. Porter's explicit descriptions. This is a well-written novella from the Cooper Mountain Rodeo series that should not be missed.
"Take Me Cowboy" by Jane Porter. The story of Jenny and Colton. This was a sweet romance - girl gets jilted, reconnects with her childhood crush. It happened fairly quickly and, although sometimes the instant love bothers me, in this case it didn't, since they knew each other before. Ms. Porter did a good job of making the reader feel what the characters felt - I believed and felt Jenny's heartbreak and I got exactly how Colton felt and his wariness to trust women after his own heartbreak. This a quick read, being a novella, and I can honestly say that I would have liked more. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Porter's works.
