Description
Three little rabbits with different skills passionately argue that their own abilities are the most important. Distracted by their discussion, they are caught by a hungry lynx. Trapped, the rabbits realize that their individual skills cannot help them, and that they must work together in order to escape.

The illustrations are charming, and the book has a lot of humorous moments that even an adult can enjoy. For example, the lynx may be a villain, but his unusual quirks made him my favorite character. The book was also great in that it was easy for children to read, but it also peppered in some fancier words. This is exactly the kind of book I loved as a child, and the kind of book my parents used to trigger our curiosity in learning new words. Strongly recommended!
I bought this looking for something to read to my 4 year old, and what a hidden gem I found! We both love it for various reasons, and he now asks for the "bunny book" every night. He loves the well drawn expressions (and I love the detail, right down to the comically sinister drool on the lynx's face when he is thinking about how best to "prepare" the rabbits). I couldn't be happier with the strong theme of cooperation amidst the initially bloated egos of the three bunnies with very different personalities, as it is a message more adults could even use in the world today. But most of all the humor ties everything together nicely, in a tale that not only inspires my son but is also quite enjoyable to read. And I'm sure it will continue to be enjoyable countless times ahead thanks to the level of detail in this delightfully fresh story! - Caroline Getts

Among the most wonderful experiences I have ever had in my life (now 66 years of age) were reading stories to my siblings' children, and then later to my own son just as my parents had done for me. It is more than the the sound of the voice, it is also the physical presence, the intonation, the emotion carried in a tale where there is friendship, devotion, trial, resolution, gratitude and appreciation for our differences, diversity and individual talents. This story, "Together is Best," carries these themes and more. Do any of us ever tend to brag? The characters in this story do. Do any of us learn that when we brag we will also learn, if we're smart, that our bragging may exaggerate our abilities? The characters in this story do. In life, we discover that it is those around us on whom we must rely and they in turn may rely upon us. We do this of course for our general welfare and we do this to overcome adversity. These classic themes are all wonderfully woven into this beautifully illustrated children's book. It is one that if added to your child's library will be requested again and again when you ask "what shall we read tonight?" Parenting is of course an exercise in character development in both the parent and the child. One indispensable tool for that development is a good book. This one hits the mark with distinction. - H. This book tells the story of three rabbits - Darcy, Farold and Howell - who, one day, are busy arguing over who is the best. Darcy is a great tunneler, Farold is known for his speed, and Howell has the keenest hearing. Whilst arguing, they are captured by a lynx, who takes them home, puts them in a cage, then prepares everything to cook himself up some dinner - using the rabbits, of course!
Using their cunning and skills, the rabbits work together to escape...
This was a fun story - the repetition would make this good for kids and parents alike. The illustrations were cute (without being outstanding) and helped convey the emotions of the rabbits and what they were doing to escape.
With a nod to The Great Escape, this book is well worth the read and suitable for kids everywhere.

my almost 3 year old loved this book and the art work was amazing

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, which is perfect for younger readers. The story flowed well, and there wasn't a point that I didn't know what was happening. The illustrations could be better. The story was great. The moral of it is that we may not be the best at everything, but everyone is good at something, and when we work together we can do a lot more than we could alone. That's something that we all need to learn. Overall, a good book.

Together Is Best by Sergio Blanco is a cute children’s story about three young rabbits. The rabbits are all friends that all have different talents . One rabbit is the best digger ever, one rabbit is the fastest runner ever and the last rabbit has the best hearing ever. The three friends argue about which talent is most important for a rabbit to have. While they are arguing, a lynx captures them all and plans to have them for dinner. By working together, are the rabbits able to escape the lynx or will they become rabbit stew? Don’t worry, there is a happy ending for the rabbits, not so much for the lynx.
The lessons contained in this story are important ones for children to learn. One lesson is that by working together more can be accomplished and sometimes the only way to find a solution is by accepting help from your friends. Another lesson I thought this book contained is that bragging and showing off are not really good and can lead to trouble. I think these lessons are ones that children and adults alike can learn and remember.
The illustrations in the book are so clever and really helped in telling the stories. The expressions on the rabbits and the lynx face were priceless at times. The illustrations are bright and vivid and very detailed.
The writing style is very age appropriate and the words used are ones that most children will know and understand. If there are a few new words, that’s a good thing because a child is building their vocabulary. The story is a good length for a child, not too long to lose a child’s interest but long enough for the story to be well established. This would be a good read to read to a younger child as well as for a child who can already read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading a well thought-out story with lessons to be learned to their child. I think this book would be a great addition to any family library as well as schools and daycare.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank NetGalley and First Edition Design Publishing for the opportunity to read this children’s book.
