A Note From the Publisher
Just then, the dawn's early sun rose with full intensity, and the morning mist quickly burned away. Everyone sat silently in anticipation while contemplating how a dolphin might reveal itself. The undulating waves of the bay lapped against their wooden boats with rhythmic tapping reminiscent of how someone might transmit a secret message from days gone by. As Maven turned to get a better view of the distant escarpment, the oar next to her slipped and fell into the boat, causing a ripple of sound that seemed to spread across the bay's waters. The sound echoed from the towering rock face several hundred feet away, creating a beautiful chamber effect that lingered in the air as it reverberated throughout the cove. Maven whispered in a soft voice. "Guys, the echo actually exists." The small expedition's members sat still to enjoy its enchanting effects. She always wondered about this phenomenon and felt strangely reassured and even fortunate to have finally experienced one of the most captivating mysteries of Bon Echo Bay. But the towering escarpment had even more to offer. The forces of nature and the passage of time had etched intricate patterns and lines upon its rocky face. As the morning sun rays heated its rocky walls, the granite's warm hues increased until they glowed. This light, in turn, cast beautiful reflections across its waters below. This wondrous convergence of space and time was Grandma's cue. "Now, everyone, a unique portal in time has arrived concerning the escarpment. The sun is shining just at the right time and angle, and because of this, the escarpment will reveal one of its mysterious secrets only from our vantage point and only if your mind is open enough to its presence. Grandma pointed at the sheer rock face of the massive escarpment before them. "Now children, tell me, what can you see?"

The central theme of trying to arrest Global Warming will attract many to this book. Personally, the title caught my eye. When I was a youth, I used to hike at Bon Echo in the summer. Always remained a special place to me and suddenly, BAM here's a book titled Bon Echo...
The world-building here is incredible. The author has taken the necessary steps to set the groundwork for a skyscraper of a book series. As you read this book you will get to know Maven and her oft annoying bro. You will get to know their groups of close friends. You will have a hoot meeting Hoot, too.
The creative thought that went into the storyline is impressive. Centered on the need to do something to stop the Climate Crisis, this book nails that issue. Such a well-defined and clearly strident approach, it is lovely to read. I would surmise even those not accepting the fact of Global Warming will enjoy this book.
If you are a reader who is concerned about the future of the planet then read this book. Fans of science-based fiction will love this book. I personally can't wait for book two. Once you read the first book you will be hooked.

One more thing before I close this letter. If you ever get a chance to visit Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario, grab this chance because it is truly beautiful. Mazinaw Rock is absolutely magical. Its sunset-lit, towering rock face is famous, and at its base, its beautiful reflection of golden hues shimmering upon its lake below is truly breathtaking to behold. The cliffs seem to generate their golden glow from within. Also, this park is famous for its 260 Indigenous pictographs, making it a significant cultural and historical landmark.
I used to live in a small town near Bon Echo Park and visited it often with my family. Even as a child, I remember the park's powerful beauty and peaceful stillness, especially when the sun was just at the right angle and at the perfect time of day. As a child, it truly felt magical.
If you can visit Bon Echo Provincial Park, I highly recommend taking the short trail to the best viewing spot for Mazinaw Rock. The ideal time to see it is about an hour before sunset. To ensure I found the best place to enjoy this stunning sight, I communicated with the park superintendent, who confirmed that the trail I was looking for was called "The Narrows."
This trail leads you to a shallow channel where the upper and lower waters of Mazinaw Lake meet. If you need assistance along the way, don't hesitate to ask; the staff at Bon Echo Park are very friendly and happy to help direct you to "the Narrows." Enjoy the view!
Once there, you will be only 100 feet away from its enormous rock cliff face, and your efforts will be rewarded by one of Ontario's most impressive natural wonders. Just before sunset, as the sun's rays begin to work their magic, the colour saturation of the granite's hues is warmed and increased so much that within a tiny window of time, this enormous rock face begins to glow with great golden intensity and then fade into darkness. The brief, fiery display will only last a few minutes, but its memory will stay in your heart forever.
My book, Bon Echo and The Competition, is a fictionalized recreation of this region. Still, as I mentioned earlier, its mystical beauty is not an exaggeration. So, I hope you will be able to visit its beautiful shores someday, too, to have your own remarkable experience of Mother Nature. Until then, as always, I wish you the happiest trails in all your future adventures!
Warm regards,

I found this book to be a very interesting read. Colette Bos did a good job in plotting this story with the theme of stopping global warming. The world building was well done, and I felt like it was very descriptive. The characters, such as Maven and Hoot, were well written and had growth. The books theme of the climate crisis were address in an impressive manner, and I was hooked from the first page. I can't wait to see more from this author. I recommend this book to readers interested in a global warming themed book. It was a good read.
