December Rain by "new to me" author A.L. Goulden, is both an erotic and slightly bizarre love story. Monica is the damaged emotional heroine, still worrying about her ex-husband Alex, while falling madly in love with Quinn, an amazing man and professional artist. Add to the mix a former high school boyfriend that is a little off his rocker, and who is also married to her best friend. And last but not least, a few girlfriends that may never forgive her wanton actions during a night of drunkenness and lunacy. It is no wonder Monica has trouble navigating through life.

Quinn is Monica's rock and his love for her is unconditional. Their passion for each other is scorchingly hot both in and out of the bedroom. Quinn wants Monica to be happy and he does everything in his power to make her feel loved and accepted, by treating her with respect and dignity. They have a lot of fun together, exploring former haunts through each others eyes, spending time with family during Christmas, and experiencing a unique form of dinner theater on New Year's Eve. Due to both internal and external factors, their relationship is stormy yet workable.

Overall, I liked this novel. It is an adult love story that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Both the primary and secondary characters are well-defined and interesting. Although I did not read the first book from the series, I did not feel lost in anyway while reading book two. Naturally, I have put the first book, August Fog, on my TBR list.
