Instead of the usual black and white line drawings, these spot the difference puzzles are twenty five pairs of similar looking coloured photographs. Each pair is shown on facing pages, with the unaltered image on the left page and the one which has been changed on the right, complete with a tick box to record differences spotted. The photographs are ones that children will easily relate to, often involving children in familiar situations. The e-book version of this displays easier on a tablet or computer that displays in colour (my kindle only shows black and white/greyscale versions). Would love to see the book version when it is published!
This collection will be great for developing visual acuity in a fun, engaging manner that adults, as well as children, will enjoy.
This book contains 25 pairs of real photographs. The original on the left and the changed on on the right. There is also a check-box at the bottom to record differences once spotted. (The answers are in the back of the book.) The photography are of everyday life making it easy to feel familiar to kids I also found the photographs to vary in challenge, allowing for hours of enjoyment.
Spot the Differences by Peter Donahue is a wonderful book for young kids who love to figure things out on their own.
The picture puzzles for kids contain actual kids, and the changed pictures are photoshopped with the differences. For adults, it is pretty easy, and same for older kids. But younger kids ages 6 to 9 are the perfect ages for this book. I thought that the pictures were very creative and they provided a few chuckles, especially the picture of the children painting. At this point this book did not work on my kindle, however the downloaded version was wonderful. I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
My Review: This was a very cute book. Working in a library, I often grab children's books while covering the children's desk, so I have something to suggest. I spy and Spot the Difference books are always popular - and this is a great example of one. I had fun finding all the differences, so I know young library patrons will as well!
Cute little book, nice bright pictures, should keep younger kids amused for a couple of hours
We're going to give this one five stars as the colorful, interesting photographs are sure to engage your child. However, the eVersion appeared jumbled and disjointed, rendering us unable to compare photos side-by-side. By switching back and forth between three or four pages, we were able to see a couple of changes in the cut-off pics. We figure the hard copy of this publication won't be as difficult to navigate.
