Michael loves to speed down the driveway on his bike. His little sister is too scared to ride, so he becomes her bike ride guide. Michael is blind and uses many of his tips and tricks to teach her. Based on the real-life experiences of author Kristin Smedley's oldest son, this early chapter book also features illustrations by artist Kim Crothers, who is visually impaired.

About the Author
Kristin Smedley is a TEDx speaker, award-winning author, trailblazer for the disability community, and mother of three children, two of whom were born blind. In 2022, Kristin co-founded Thriving Blind Academy. She is also co-founder and CEO of the only patient organization in the world for people living with the rare eye disease that caused her two sons’ blindness, CRB1 LCA/RP. She is co-creator of the short film, The Greatest Equalizer. All of these media harness Kristin’s important message: uncovering ability in disAbility and seeing advantage in disAdvantage.

About the Illustrator
At 6 years old, Kim Crothers was diagnosed with a rare eye disease. Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA) causes her to have low vision and color blindness. A love of art led Kim to pursue her degree in graphic design at Mississippi State University. This set up her career as a freelance illustrator, artist, and graphic designer. When Kim isn’t drawing, she spends time with her husband, three kids, three dogs, and her parents in Madison, Mississippi.
