Description
A twenty-nine-year-old man lives alone in his Glasgow flat. The telephone rings; a casual conversation, but behind this a job offer. The clues are there if you know to look for them. He is an expert. A loner. Freelance. Another job is another job, but what if this organization wants more?
A meeting at a club. An offer. A target: Lewis Winter, a necessary sacrifice that will be only the first step in an all-out war between crime syndicates the likes of which hasn't been seen for decades. It's easy to kill a man. It's hard to kill a man well. People who do it well know this. People who do it badly find out the hard way. The hard way has consequences.
A Note From the Publisher
The first book in the Glasgow Trilogy
Advance Praise
“Reviewers often groan at the hyperbole with which publishers adorn new novels, but with Malcolm Mackay it is justified… The youthful Mackay has the command of a writer twice his age.”—Barry Forshaw, Financial Times
“More than a page turner…a page ripper. If you like Ian Rankin, Stuart MacBride, Val McDermid, Denise Mina—Malcolm Mackay is right up there.”—Peter James, author of Want You Dead
“An amazing novel, incredibly gripping from the first page to the last.”—Mark Billingham, author of The Demands

Featured Reviews
The first book of a trilogy set in the Glasgow underworld of organized crime. Lewis Winter is a small-time drug dealer whose ambition and need to please his girlfriend are making him step on toes of some very powerful people. A hit is ordered on Winter and the book follows the setup and aftermath of the job spending a lot of time in the heads of those involved - the hired gun, the witnesses, the detective assigned to the case. An absorbing and gritty crime novel.
