Description
"Stupid Boy by Cindy Miles is everything I love about a new adult romance-- angsty, emotional and sexy. I couldn't stop reading!"
- NYT and USA Today bestselling author Lauren Hawkeye
Brax Jenkins and Olivia Beaumont are the most envied couple at Winston University—but the so-called “virginity dare,” orchestrated by Brax’s old fraternity, almost tore them apart. Now, a new dare is taking shape, and it’s sure to set emotions ablaze—more than ever before.
Winston’s “It Girl” Harper Belle isn’t just president of the Deltas—she’s also a master at keeping her ugly past a secret. So, when the Kappas’ dare hits closer to home for her more than anyone realizes, she devises a competition of her own as payback. Three sorority sisters will seek out a notorious womanizer on campus and—unbeknownst their “mark”—secretly train him to be the perfect boyfriend. Always up for a challenge, Harper targets the biggest player she can find: Brax’s wickedly handsome foster brother Kane McCarthy.
But, Harper discovers there’s much more to Kane than girls, games, and partying. His easy smile belies the quiet, old soul reflected in his deep brown eyes. All it takes is one night, one secret laid bare, and one kiss from Kane to shift Harper’s world on its axis. Suddenly, the girl who’s always walked a straight and narrow path can’t think of anything else except losing control.
"A raw, beautiful, poignant story about pain, heartache and first love. I couldn’t put it down.”
- Carly Phillips, NYT bestselling author, on STUPID GIRL

The Greek system has been an institution at almost every college for years. Hazing and dares are common practice and they usually go wrong. Having not learned from Olivia's ordeal in Stupid Girl Harper sets out to get even. Delta women want to reform a bad boy from the offending frat house. Harper has eyes on Kane, Brax's brother, but needs to get past her fears. Kane is drawn to Harper, sensing familiar struggles and cannot step away. Two people with horrendous childhoods are drawn like magnets and find themselves with plenty of new issues to overcome.
As part of a series it can be read as a stand alone novel. Knowing Kane is a Southie I love to imagine the accent and tough guy swagger. He's gentle and protective, exactly what Harper needs. This was a pleasure to read and I thank Netgalley and the author for my copy to review.
Cindy Miles has outdone herself with this book. It's my favorite so far in this series and my favorite out of all her books so far. Harper and Kane's story is beautiful and moving. They both appear to come from different walks of life, but painful pasts are something they both have in common, even if they don't know yet. Something Kane sees in Harper's eyes draws him to her. And what started off as a bet to teach a bad boy a lesson becomes so much more.
This story captured my interest from the very first page. I couldn't stop reading and even stayed up late to do so. I absolutely loved Harper and Kane. I have no idea how Harper managed to hold herself together for so long. Nothing she was blamed for as a child was her fault. I wanted to reach into the book and give Harper a hug and punish those who hurt her. Kane too. That boy was anything but what his tormentor accused him of being. Kane might have looked like a bad boy and done things that were illegal, but once I found out why he was doing them, I felt better. I knew he wasn't doing anything to purposely harm Brax his foster brother or Olivia and Harper. It also helped the story was told from both their view points.
As is usual in a story where a bet is taking place, there are often times when the story can be predicted. Cindy Miles kept this from happening by inserting twists I didn't see coming. The chemistry Harper and Kane had was wonderful. I liked how their attraction to one another was a slow burn. They might have first been attracted to each other physically, but once Kane realized Harper was fragile, I like how he attuned himself to her needs. He might have taken the reins of their dating, but in everything else he let her lead. I felt that was essential to their relationship getting to the point where they trusted one another with their secrets. I hated seeing them hurt.
Overall, I would've liked to see a few more issued be addressed. I would've liked to know what Harper's surprise visitor had to say to her. Especially since the visit started a chain of events that had a lasting effect on the story. I would've liked I also wouldn't have minded an epilogue to show how Harper and Kane were doing in the future, but since there's going to be another book in this series, hopefully there'll be glimpses of them in there. I can't wait to find out who the next book will feature and if I've already met them yet.
Let me just say this...I loved Stupid Girl, so I was expecting good things, but Stupid boy surpassed my expectations! I loved it so much! I adored Harper even more than I did Olivia, and that's saying something. Her backstory is so engrossing and makes the reader so immediately empathetic, and, while I loved Brax, Zane was even better. More controlled, more stable and much more compassionate. I really LOVED this book and will high,u recommend it to YA fans! Well done and thank you!
Excellent read! This is a sequel to Stupid Girl. While it can be read standalone you'll really understand all the characters more if you read both books. Kane McCarthy is new on campus but his bad boy persona grabs the interest of Harper Belle, Winston's perfect girl. What they both want is to keep their ugly pasts firmly in the past. What they need is each other.
This is an excellent story and the characters are incredibly intriguing. I definitely recommend this one.

Ms. Miles followed up Stupid Girl with a absolute bang. This is a keeper. A wonderful fun sweet heartwarming and at times heartbreaking winner of a story. And when you find out why Brax’s brother Kane runs numbers your heart will melt into goo a little more for him.
Harper has a very heartbreaking childhood as does Kane. Difference Kane has had to face his while Harper has been scared to due to her evil grandmother. So Harper has become a facade of who she is on the inside. She seems perfect only Kane and Brax (to an extent) see past it. When the Kappas do another Dare on a girl, Harper wants to teach them a lesson. She approaches her sorority and they decide to find 3 guys to reform. For her the challenge is Brax’s brother Kane. Kane is a quiet, sweet guy but a little rough on the edges. He has had a tough life but it hasn’t brought him down. And he is a good guy. When he brings you in and trusts you he is loyal to the end. He is close to Brax and loves him with everything there is. So when he starts to have a connection with Harper it is odd for him. Brax is fearful due to Kane’s chosen way to earn money. But he sees Harper as more and he sees what is inside her. She is broken like him and Brax and he wants to help her. He also begins to fall in love with her.
The more time they spend together the closer they become and the more Kane wants to leave his current employment and become more. MOre for Harper, more for Brax and more for himself but he can’t.His sister is his world and he needs to help her as well. He is a sweet, protective, kind caring guy who does good even when he is doing something bad. He is protective of those he loves and he loves Harper. He lets her in and trusts her more than anyone else. Kane is the character you will fall into a gooey melted chocolate chip over. He will trust have you awwing. He will also have you smile and cry. When you read his past and what he has gone through and still doing it will melt you more.
Harper is fun when with Kane and he brings out a side that others never see. A side her fun and zany friend Murphy loves. She begins to have doubts about the reformation but she doesn’t do something until it is too late. After she does, instead of facing the issue with Kane she tables it and this makes things worse.
Kane is hurt and Brax is angry but he understands what Harper is going through. In the end though these two do find their way to being what they need for each other and love does win out.
A sweet fun and endearing story that will keep you entranced and wanting more of Kane and Harper as you read their journey together in healing and finding each other. Miss Miles tells a endearing and wonderfully sweet story with really fun moments and other moments that will have you weep.A true winner in the series. I cannot wait for the next in this series for the first two have been amazeballs. This one will knock your socks off.
This was a really fantastic book! I enjoyed it a lot, especially after just reading Stupid Girl, though my review of that won't be posted till the 28th. Anyways, it was great to have another couple come into play, from characters that are connected to the characters from Stupid Girl!
So both Harper and Kane have some hard pasts. Kane, well, that he's Brax's foster brother, should say something, if you're paying attention. But Harper's pain of the past is both easier, and harder, to hide. But they both wear masks, and hide their true feelings. Which isn't healthy!
I really liked that we got to see Olivia and Brax again in this book, a few times, which was really nice! And getting to have updates in their lives, that they got through their dare, gives hope through the novel, that Harper and Kane would get through their's!
Between the connection between Harper and Kane, the dare, and their subsequent relationship, this book was really fantastic! The ending did feel like there was still more to say, since I still had some questions. But hopefully there'll be a 3rd book to get those answers!
This was a really great book, and just another great NA book and series to look for! Yeah!
I was on the fence about reading this one, but after reading a review a friend did for it I decided to give it a go and am really happy that I did because I ended up loving Harper and Kane's story. The reason why I was on the fence is because the blurb made it sound like the Dare was going to be the main focus of the story and I didn't know if I could handle that kind of angst, but that wasn't the case. The Dare is in the background but the meat of the story is about two people recognizing that while on the outside they may come from different worlds, on the inside they are the same kind of broken and through that painful bond take steps towards healing themselves and each other.
Both Harper’s and Kane’s back stories were so well crafted and executed that I could swear I felt what they went through. The abuse and ultimate psychological ramifications of it all had me wanting to hug them both and try to fix them, but also had me admiring their will to survive and despite their pasts, were still both compassionate human beings. Both took the path of painting on their own perfect façade so that no one would know the pain they hid and they would be able to shut anyone who tried to see past it out, but as it would happen, when two broken souls meet they end up recognizing each other and a bond is created. What I really enjoyed was the way their relationship grew. There was a sense of Insta Love, but they did go there right away. They took their time to get to know each other and it be a much more sweet and romantic journey than I had thought it would be.
The Dare, as I said I’m happy that this wasn’t the true focus of the book, but I am glad it was there because it was a great way of weaving a recap of what happened in Stupid Girl into the story without taking away from Harper and Kane’s story for both those who had read the book as well as give those of us who didn’t read the book so we don’t feel lost when those references and couple appear in the story.
Overall I really did enjoy this story. I liked the author’s voice and writing style and I found that I was hooked from the first page and had a hard time putting it down. There are a few things that I felt were left unanswered, so I do hope that the answers do come up in future books and I hope that Murphy gets more page time down the road because she was awesome! So I’m going to be getting my hands on Stupid Girl to find out more about Brax and Olivia as well as keeping my eyes out for what’s to come next in the series.

This is Harper and Kane's story which I thought was better than Olivia and Brax's story. I fell in love with both characters and the feelings of the characters brought out the true emotions of their pasts to help them become stronger together. I was gifted this book from the author from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did and cannot wait for what Cindy has in store for us next!
