A well-written historical novel that will entertain readers with its sharp, insightful observations.' KIRKUS REVIEWS
'As the book travels back and forth in time, Young shows extreme skill that cannot be ignored in how seamlessly past and present connect... I recommend this book to anyone who wants something with real heart and meaning.' Tahlia Gillings, http://themadt-party.blogspot.co.uk/
'When I grow older, I hope I have the resilience of Sarah, who is my new literary heroine. Her quiet courage in the face of so much inspires me.' Joy, Goodreads.com
''Although the cast of characters is large, and the author has written the book in such a way that the reader identifies with all of them, Damson Hayes is the star of the show. It is with Damson that the book starts – as she suffers a hideous ordeal – and it is with her that we finish, and it is Damson’s journey more than that of any other character that holds the novel together. I really don’t want to give too much away, but her story is full of drama, pain, suffering, steadfastness and ultimately redemption.' Helen Walters, http://fictionisstrangerthanfact.blogspot.co.uk/
'The book flows so well and is compulsive reading. I really identified with all the characters and felt passionately about what happened to them.' Jane Pepler, Goodreads.com
'Unusually well-written....It succeeds in something unusual, which is making good people interesting.' Amanda Craig, Hall of Fame reviewer, Amazon UK
'Sail Upon the Land is a novel that unveils the complexities of motherhood and feminine experience, something which is rarely written in such a raw and true way as Josa Young has done here. The level at which the characters are relatable is remarkably deep. Absolute winner.' Immolator, Amazon UK

An inheritance, a death and a love affair gone terribly wrong are just some of the things that four generations of women and two families will struggle with, from the Second World War to the present. A beautifully written, engrossing family story
This book spans four generations of mothers and their daughters lives over 80 years and is a brilliant read.. The women are all connected and I just loved this book it is totally un-put-downable. The book opens with Damson who is backpacking in India and she suffers a humiliating ordeal.. We learn about her granny, Sarah who was a VAD nurse in WWII and how she met her husband and her fragile mother, Melissa. Mellita is the one who offers the gift greatest gift of all. There is drama, pain, love, loneliness, suffering, mental health issue, death, duty and hope. A must read.
