Pleasant Day is Vera Jane Cook's eighth published novel and her fourth Southern fiction novel. Dancing Backward in Paradise was the recipient of an Indie Excellence Award for notable new fiction in 2006 and also won an Eric Hoffer Award that year for publishing excellence. The Story of Sassy Sweetwater was a finalist for an Eric Hoffer Award in 2013 for Ebook fiction aswell as a finalist in the ForeWord book of the year Awards in 2013. Where the Wildflowers Grow earned a four star ForeWord Clarion review and is a finalist in the Prize Writer Awards for 2015. Also by Vera Jane Cook: Marybeth, Hollister & Jane, a mystery involving the stolen Eagle Diamond, Lies a River Deep, a book about the sweetness of revenge and Annabel Horton, Lost Witch of Salem, involving time travel, shape shifting and Satan. Vera Jane Cook has a BS from the City University of New York in Communications, a Masters from NYU in Educational theatre and is a present student in the MATSOL program at The New School. Professionally she has worked as an account manager for The New York Times, The Daily News, Scholastic, Oxford University Press and is presently a territory manager for Rally Education.
