I loved this book. Loved the main character and the supporting characters. The story was great, I was caught right away and I just could not read it fast enough. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because I just don’t want to give anything away, but I promise you, this is a great read. I was surprised this was the author’s first book. And can I say? Oy Vey…..the ending! Read this book, the author is going onto my must-read list.

As an avid reader of true-crime books, I took the chance to read this fictional crime thriller. I am happy I took that chance! This book was exceptionally well written and had great characters and character development. The story itself was creative and imaginative while still being realistic and believable. The plot, the twists and turns, and the tradecraft used by the good and bad guys all read like a true-crime story. This book was challenging to put down, and I am looking forward to the follow-up.

This was really something special. I'm a fan of crime fiction that usually skews towards the literary (whatever that means) though still love a good old fashioned thriller. This has all the usual tropes - a former FBI agent turned PI with a troubled past, shady businessmen, officious law enforcement management types, drug runners, hitmen, plus the Florida Keys setting. Could be good, or it could be a paint by numbers story. I love a breezy beach read, but often the writing and the story aren't up to par. But this book grabbed me. It hits the expected beats, what you might uncharitably call 'cliches', but it is put together in such a sharp way. The pacing is great, the characters are believable, and the author manages to shift between several POVs and juggle two plot lines without getting bogged down in the minutiae or confusing the reader as to what's going on. With an ending like the one here, I'm hoping this becomes a new series. I'm a fan.
