Brazen Bloke is a naughty little boy who was born to Swiss parents. He is spoilt and has got everything he needs. Growing up, he pursues his dream to become a professional tennis player. All goes to plan for many years, but when he turns sixteen, life takes him down a different path: he takes up with the wrong crowd, starts to blaze and enjoys getting legless. One year later, he works up an appetite for drugs. At seventeen he drops acid, aged eighteen he tries Ecstasy and soon magic mushrooms, mescaline, amphetamine, crystal meth and coke into the bargain. True to his motto ‘sex, drugs and techno’, the cocky small-time villain leads a wild life in the rave scene for years on end, breaking the law at will, fearing neither the filth nor a screwed up future.

At the age of twenty-nine, he goes for a new drug: Xanax - an extremely addictive anti-anxiety medication, a notorious benzodiazepine. He only pops downers when counting sheep fails and manages for several years not to get hooked on them. But cos panic attacks and other headaches strike, he takes Xanax more and more. Eventually, the powerful drug gets the better of him - he becomes physically dependent on it. He tries to quit the sedative in the loony bin, but laughing academies are no good, they only drive him insane. Grappling with suicidal thoughts and the small voice within, he finds himself caught up in an emotional tornado. Will he live to tell the tale? A World of Marvels is the heart-wrenching true story of a hedonistic bloke, a journey through madness and half a life gone wrong. Laced with irony, sarcasm and gallows humour, this is a memoir that inspires laughter, shock and much, much more.

Author Bio:

Brazen Bloke was born in Basel in 1977, three weeks too late by a forceps delivery. He grew up in Muttenz, a suburb of Basel in north-western Switzerland. Aged twenty-four he became a father. His daughter is now twelve years old and lives with her Swiss mother in Switzerland. He is a commercial clerk and a certified trustee by profession and has passed both the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) as well as the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). In addition to working more than ten years as an accountant and auditing assistant in Switzerland, he has lived and jobbed few months as an English teacher in Ibiza and the UK. He now lives on his own on the outskirts of Basel and works as an accountant.
