Trail explore the fascinating world of plant survival and propagation. How do plants and seeds survive freezing cold, blazing heat, drought and floods? Readers learn how different plants have evolved to live in very specific settings and locations or even under dire circumstances – some seeds will not germinate until they have been through a fire. The role of pollinators is also explored, who the pollinators are – from bugs, to birds, to mammals and also how these creatures are lured in to ensure the continued survival of the plant species. Informative and fun, this is a book that will be enjoyed by all who love the outdoors
A fascinating look at the plant world I received this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. Author Jesse Vernon Trail crafted a fascinating discussion about plants. He covers a lot of ground (pun not intended) but doesn't get bogged down in the details. The book is logically divided into topics and is easy to follow. This is a descriptive book and what science there is, is very clearly explained. The photographs are beautiful. I recommend this book for anyone interested in botany, whether they have a science background or not.
