Description

No One Expects a Curveball

For Rylan Cates, the gloriously sunny beachside town of Barefoot William may be home, but the pro baseball player needs to focus on spring training. Hiring a personal assistant to keep him and his four dogs organized for the next eight weeks is the first step--and Beth Avery is the perfect pinch hitter.

Beth is still looking for her place in the world, and a couple months caring for Rylan's two dachshunds, his golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas should shore up her finances before she moves on. Except it's Atlas who won't budge, pushing her toward tanned, scruffy, sexy Rylan every chance he gets. One more strike and she's calling the dog out--unless she and Rylan admit that the attraction they're feeling is a game-winning grand slam. . .

Advance Praise

“Fans of Angell’s idyllic town of Barefoot William will delight in this return to the sun, surf and, of course, her irresistible baseball-playing heroes in this sweet, quirky new release. The best feature here is the hero’s enormous Great Dane, whose huge personality and matchmaking antics make this romance a fun, lighthearted romp. Angell’s settings are simply delightful, and her charming cast is wonderfully warm-hearted.”– RT Book Reviews

This was a lovely story. Being English, the baseball side didn't mean much but that really didn't matter. The growing attraction between Beth and Ry was very well written and told from both sides. The characters around the central pair were fantastic, particularly the other players in the team and I was delighted to find that this is the start of a series.
The dogs were amazing. I work with dogs so any book which has a larger-than-life dog with a larger-than-life character is always going to be hit with me!
It was a quick read - nothing too taxing and I enjoyed the setting too. Yes, they all seemed to lead somewhat charmed lives - but isn't that part of the reason for reading? To escape from our own realities? I really look forward to reading the next book in the series and shall look out for more Kate Angell books.

This is my first book by Kate Angell, and it definitely won't be my last. Especially her Barefoot William series. I LOVED 'No One Like You. Pro Ball player, Rylan Cates hires Beth Avery as his PA / Dog Nanny, and with some help from his teammates, family, and especially his Great Dane, Atlas, begins to realize, she is is 'His One.' Rylan Cates was a great HERO. I loved him. What a sweetie. I could relate to Beth, and loved their chemistry. I liked that it wasn't rushed to much. I am a SUCKER for a romance with dogs., and Atlas just stole my heart. I am already looking forward to Ry's teammate, Halo's love story next Spring.

No One Like You is a lighthearted read. Kate Angell is an author that I have not read before but will be reading more in the future. This story has everything from opposites attracting, to matchmaking dogs and hilarious scenarios. The animals were characters as well with the human personality traits they displayed. Ms. Angell created a story that drew in from the first page and smoothly guides you through an entertaining story. Received this book for an honest review.

Kate Angell his it out of the ball park when she wrote “No One Like You”! The story of Beth and Rylan is one that brought a smile to my face from the very first page and kept me smiling till the end. I liked the fact that there were no major dramas or issues to be overcome as the two main characters got to know one another. The four dogs, Atlas in particular, gave this story a dimension that enhanced with every scene they were included in. The imaginary beach location for spring training of a baseball team was perfect, the teammates and extended family fun to meet and will allow for further books in the series. The plot was wonderful and believable with activities and interactions that were from slapstick funny to warm and compassionate. I would love to be able to go to Old Barefoot William, Florida to meet the cast of characters found in this book but alas, it is fictitious. That said, I believe this is a book I will gladly read in the future and consider a friend.

I received this book as an advanced reader’s copy through Net Galley and am thankful I did because it introduced me to an author I had not read before but plan to read again.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance at its best.
