“His Outback Cowgirl” brings the readers back to Marietta, Montana and the two newcomers whose families have roots in this Cooper Mountain town.
Remember Cordell Morgan who is now married to Payton Hollis of Beargrass Hills Ranch? His brother Ethan Morgan is in Larkspur Ridge Ranch taking care of their father Henry who just had hip replacement surgery.
Remember Zane Nash of Hollyhock Creek Ranch? His long lost mother is back in town and brought with her Zane’s half sister, Australia born and raised Bridie Willis.
“His Outback Cowgirl” is the story of Ethan and Bridie, who are both broken hearted; Ethan from growing up with a life on the run and Bridie from losing her father not even a year past.
Both are taciturn and have a hard time expressing their feelings; yet there is a growing attraction between them. The question is who will tear down the walls they built around their hearts first and break the silence.
A sweet romance that tugs at your heartstrings; “His Outback Cowgirl” is not just about romance. It’s also about familial love.
His Outback Cowgirl by Alissa Callen is Rated PG 15 due to some adult situations. The sex scenes are implied and not graphic.
His Outback Cowboy is sweet! I liked both Bridie and Ethan and I found their story fairly believable though I do have trouble coming to grips with love ever after in a matter of days. Alissa Callen clearly knows her way around farms, cattle (black Angus at any rate) and horses and she writes well about that lifestyle. I enjoyed her descriptions of matchmaking Henry. He made me smile with his very obvious efforts to throw Bridie and Ethan together. His Outback Cowboy will appeal to people who like warm-hearted feelgood romances with just a touch of adventure thrown in for good measure.
This was another great read from Alissa Callen. Bridie is dealing with the loss of her father and finding a new family waiting for her in Montana. While she loves it there and is enjoying making new friends and getting to know her brother and nephew she just can't seem to let go of her grief. Ethan knows about loss and he knows that Bridie is trouble right from the start. But after his father throws the two of them together they both begin to realize that the other is not necessarily what they seem, The romance was sweet and poignant and very very clean. I really loved this one a lot.
Alissa Callen’s Wildflower Ranch Series has become one of my favorites in recent times, and I’m so in love with these cowboys and cowgirls as well as Alissa Callen. Each book in the series is a charming love story under the big skies of Montana, people with big hearts, warm relationships and immense support and love. And into this heartwarming land comes “His Outback Cowgirl” Bridie Willis, Zane’s stepsister. Filled with grief over her father’s death and having no home in the outback anymore, Bridie is at a crossroad in her life. Spending time with her recently found family, all she wants to do is hone her love for photography and put a closure to her grief. Life has dealt Ethan Morgan a few hard blows that had molded him into what he is today, a warm and caring man, open with his love, and his unconditional support for his family. Seeing Bridie stirs feelings that have been buried, yet he feels inadequate for her. Ethan is one of Alissa Callen’s perfect heroes, humble with his imperfections. I loved him for the way he’s tuned into Bridie’s sadness, her desires and her insecurities. I just loved him!!!!
Too short for my satisfaction ;) “His Outback Cowgirl” is another feather in Alissa Callen’s series. There’s no dearth of sentiments and emotions, and you can’t help but fall in love with Ethan and Bridie. Now all Bridie has to do is trust her heart with Ethan and Ethan needs to trust his feelings for Bridie. Simply beautiful and captivating!!!!

Birdie comes to Marietta with her mother and finds out she has a half brother she never knew about. Now she's her in Montana away from the only home she grew up in and has ever know to deal with a loss that has her world falling apart or so she thinks. Ethan has a heart of gold but know that is a situation presents its self he has no problem defending and protecting his family. He came to Montana to help his dad he he just found with in the last few years recover from surgery. Now he is put into a situation he seems to not be able to say no to, or will he find loss greater then love?
I feel like even before the chemistry picks up which you just find yourself falling in love with all the characters. I love the quirkiness of Henry and Birdie. Once the chemistry hits you have no chance you will want to read every page to find out what is going on, not just because of the chemistry but because of the storyline it self. This book is a real page turner for sure.
It’s never easy losing a parent. Everyone reacts and grieves differently, there is no “right” way to move forward – there is only “your way” to do what is needed.
Bridie has lost her father, even though she has found her half-brother, the grief, the emptiness of not having her dad to turn to is weighing heavily on her. She knows with certainty if she could just get to the mountains, if she could just be alone in the vastness of the wilderness she could let her deep grief go, release it into the heart of the solitude of the mountains – she could start to heal. But she has to get there first.
Ethan is the quieter twin, not a risk-taker. Even though Bridie pulls at him, he feels that her live life to the fullest, risk-taking view of life would clash with his quieter, slower way of looking at life. That doesn’t stop the longing though. He just can’t see how they could ever make it together. Not to mention she lived on the other side of the earth and was obviously still grieving over her father’s death.
But his dad, Henry, the old matchmaker, has a different idea of Bridie and Ethan’s chances. And when Bridie ask for permission to head into the upper areas of his property, up into the mountains – Henry sees a plan in the making.
Ethan understood Bridie better than she thought. He had lost his mom about a year ago, so he knew the release that would eventually have to come in order for Bridie to be able to work through her grief to get to the other side. He just didn’t think babysitting her on her trips into the mountains was the best way to give her the solitude she craved. And it sure didn’t help that every time he was with her, she pulled him in a little bit more.
His Outback Cowgirl is a short read – but a powerful one. It’s tender where it needs to be and realistic when depicting the ultimate release of Bridie’s grief. I enjoyed learning Ethan and Bridie’s story. The love slowly building between them was just right for this type of story.
This one gets a 4 outta 5 rating from me. I would recommend this one for anyone who simply loves a good romance, anyone who has dealt with grief and wished for a strong shoulder like Ethan’s to turn to.
*I received an e-ARC of His Outback Cowgirl from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
On the outside, Ethan Morgan is the opposite of his twin brother Cordell--he's level-headed and thinks before he does or says anything. Spending a few weeks with the father he met not too long ago in order to help him after his hip surgery is simply something he would never say "no" to. However, his father's request that he play tour guide and babysitter to one Australian cowgirl is something he may refuse to do.
Bridie Willis is in Montana to spend time with her mother and to get to know the half-brother she never knew she had. While this is an opportunity for her to indulge her love of photography, this is also the time to mourn the recent death of her beloved father. Independent and willful, Bridie wants nothing more than to be alone in her grief, but Henry Watson's plea has her including an American cowboy in her plans.
Both Ethan and Bridie think that they're as different as night and day, but the days that they spend together opens their eyes to the possibility that they may have been wrong in their initial assessments. They're more alike than they originally thought, but Bridie's grief and the fact that she lives in Australia and he lives in Colorado Springs has them cautious about starting something that may lead to heartbreak.
His Outback Cowgirl is the fourth novella in the Wildflower Ranch series by author Alissa Callen and one that I quite liked. The pacing was quick but the sequence of events didn't feel rushed at all, so the progression of the love story had a realistic feel to it. After all, it wasn't as if Ethan and Bridie fell in love the minute they laid eyes on one another. Their feelings and relationship developed over a period of time.
Ethan was introduced in the first book, Cherish Me, Cowboy, and I've been wanting him to have his own story told since then. Bridie seems to be the perfect fit for him, especially since they first came off as being opposites. They're able to provide one another that sense of balance that makes them an ideal couple. Henry's matchmaking is obviously still as effective as ever, the father wanting his sons to be happy.
This was a quick and easy read and one that was touching and sweet. It was nice to be able to see how the other characters in the previous books have been doing. I do believe this is the last installment and I'm happy to say that the Wildflower Ranch series is one that I truly appreciate. Though standalones, I recommend the books be read and enjoyed in order. His Outback Cowgirl by Alissa Callen gets 4.5 stars! ♥
I'm really loving this Wildflower Ranch series and this book is a great addition! Ethan Morgan is in Marietta helping his newly found father Henry get back on his feet. Bridie Willis is here visiting with her brother Zane and deal with the recent death of her father. Ethan is so kind and gentle with her and it's not long before strong feelings develop. They both need to listen to their heart. This is a sweet story and one you shouldn't miss. I definitely recommend it.
I like this series of Wildflower Ranches. I like this author who builds the emotional connection between the characters as strongly as the physical connection. And I especially liked this book, His Outback Cowgirl. It has its roots in the first in the series, Cherish Me, Cowboy, but does not need to be read in order. Unless of course you want to see Henry’s first try at matchmaking. Honestly, he’s pretty darn good at it. I just love this old coot so I enjoyed getting to know him a bit better in this book. Since he was not around when Cordell and Ethan were growing up, he is making up for that now by meddling in their lives. Cordell is happily settle with Payton so I guess it stood to reason he would set his sights on Ethan.
I am so glad that he did. I agreed with him that Ethan, who is calm and strong personality wise is perfect for Bridie who is his opposite. Even in their backgrounds they are somewhat different. Where it counts mind you, in their core values they are carbon copies. I like them both, how could you not. They are hardworking, self-reliant, and loyal to family and friends.
Again, this Wildflower Ranch book is not long. However, it is long enough for the author to deal with the issue of grief in a sensitive and touching way. Just a wonderful read with characters I would want as neighbors in a place I would love to live. Thank you, Tule Publishing, I can always count on your well written books to always end with a smile.
One last thought, idea or something. I hope Nick Ryan straightens up and matures because he could sure use a woman’s touch. There something about him that makes me think there is hope for him yet.
4.5 stars
A short, sweet romance with strong characters - just what I enjoy reading. Ethan Morgan certainly does not relish babysitting Bridie Willis as much as Bridie wants anyone, particularly, Ethan, while she wants closure from her father's death by spending time by herself. But as they are thrown together, they realize they are more alike than they thought, and the way their romance develops is touching and sweet.
A sweet romance with both hero and heroine having experience with grief. She's in the process of letting her grief go and he has dealt with in in the past so knows to give her what she needs. Someone to listen and hold her. Enjoyed this but also felt it was too short.
**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion**
As Bridie goes to the mountains to grieve, Ethan helps by giving the right support and kind words. Neither was looking for love, but in the darkest moments they find light and more in common than originally thought. Starting over in Montana, and taking a risk of the heart is exactly what these two souls need.
Many grieving emotions through this quick read. Ethan's character was all heart and Bridie's strong personality was a good match for him. A pleasant read that is a good addition toThe Wildflower Ranch series :)

Bridie Willis travels to Marietta, Montana to say farewell to her deceased father and to meet her family but she found herself a cowboy, Ethan Morgan. Ethan is careful, cautious and wary. Bridie is hoping to pass her time in the hills with her camera, Ethan accompanies her for safety. As time together brings on increasing feeling for each other. In the end, Bridie has found friendship, a home and love with fer forever cowboy.
This was a great addition to the Wildflower Ranch series, but can be read as a stand alone. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.
a story of love and loss back dropped in the wilderness and mountains of the US. A nice and sweet novella where you'll want to smile and frown along with each and every scene. Normally I have things I can rant off, but this novel is just that- a quick and fun read.

His Outback Cowgirl is book #4 in the Wildflower Ranch series and it was a great addition to the series.
Bridie came over from Australia to spend summer in Montana in order to meet her half brother and her nephew but also in order to escape the pain of losing her dad. She plans to spend as much time as she can alone in the mountains, taking pictures of wild animals and mourning her dad.
Ethan is spending the summer in Montana helping his dad Henry recover from surgery and the last thing he's looking for is a relationship but his dad as other plans for him and Bridie and he's trying to fix them up.
Henry doesn't want Bridie to go to the mountains alone so he makes Ethan go with her.
At first Ethan is sure that Bridie is all wrong for him since she's adventurer, spontaneous while he loves order and stability but the more time they spend together he realize that they are not as different as he first thought and he finds it very hard to resist her
He wants to give her time and space to mourn her dad and move on from losing him but it's very hard for him to keep his distance.
I enjoyed reading about Bridie and Ethan and how they found their HEA.
I also enjoyed reading about characters from previous books.
Overall His Outback Cowgirl was an emotional book that I enjoyed reading.
His Outback Cowgirl is the fourth book in Alissa Callen's Wildflower Ranch series. This latest tells Bridie and Ethan's story. Family brings both of them to Marietta and with a little matchmaking, they find themselves spending time together.
I couldn't believe when I reached the end of His Outback Cowgirl. Bridie and Ethan's story hooked me in and I didn't put it down until the end.
I love revisiting with characters with each new book in the series. I'm hoping for a few more books in The Wildflower Ranch series.
A touching, tender romance with strong characters, and a hint of danger mixed in.
The sorrow and sadness in Birdie are so real and raw. She has just recovered from the scare with her mother's cancer, when she lost her father. Now in Montana, to get to know her half-brother and his family, she is determined to get over her heartache, by riding into the wilderness, with Ethan as her guide.
Birdie and Ethan are not as different from each other, as one would think. They complement each other perfectly, Ethan's calm, with Birdie's restlessness makes harmony, when they are together. The way Ethan understands her, and her loose, her need to grieve, takes care of her and gives her the place and time to say goodbye to her father, is so loving, tender, and beautiful. They are like two pieces of a whole, and their love for each other so delicate and delightful.
The poachers at the wilderness brings elements of danger and fear into the story. The lovely bunch of family and friends are entertaining, and Ethan's connection with his twin brother fascinating.
Touching story of dealing with grief, learning to let it go, trust in life again, and daring to love and live in the moment
~ Four Spoons
Birdie Willis has travelled from her home in Australia to Montana in an effort to help herself get over the trauma of her father’s death. She plans to continue with her online work and to spend most of the summer alone photographing wild animals. Henry has other ideas for her future - he’s matchmaking, again! He is trying to match her to Ethan Morgan, one of his twin sons. Ethan and his brother, Cordell, had a traumatic childhood and only discovered who their father was when their mother was dying. Ethan is the quiet twin, thought by most to be a thinker and talker rather than fighter, quiet and steady rather than fiery like his twin. Henry manages to get Birdie to agree to let Ethan act as her guide in the beautiful mountainous countryside. They both have grief and trauma in their lives and now they are exploring together will they be tempted to explore attraction to each other and trust their hearts as Henry has plotted? Will Henry succeed again or will Birdie’s grief stop her trusting her heart to this handsome cowboy?
I have thoroughly enjoyed several books in this series and it is great to meet some familiar characters again but I don’t think you need to have read the others to still enjoy this book, too. Having said that, if you read this one you’ll probably want to read others in the series, to! It is very well written with characters whose attitudes, actions and emotions are developed and changed whilst their relationships with others are explored. It is a lovely sweet romance, with danger from poachers, interference from a meddling matchmaker and all the angst and turmoil from grief all playing important roles in the story. A lovely light read to enjoy and escape into the marvellous setting with well developed characters - highly recommend!
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
His Outback Cowgirl was the first book I read in the 4 book series. I do wish I had read the first three books just for back ground characters. However, that did not take away from this book.
Ethan is helping his father,Henry take care of his ranch while he recovers from hip surgery. Ethan is quit, sensible and a non-risk taker.
Bridie is sweet, fun-loving and can hardly sit still. She is grieving the loss of her father and is in Montana to heal.
Their story is very sweet and a slow steady build to the end.
I enjoyed this story.

Another fun story set in Marietta, Montana. I really like these stories, and for the most part they are quick and easy reads, and this one is no exception. A good easy romance for summer reading at the beach if you like the strong quiet cowboys and you like the mountains of Montana. Yum. Would recommend.

The Wildfire Ranch series was a delight to read! I've loved every story!
I thought this was a very sweet romance. The story was written proportionally, meaning the relationship between our leads wasn't just thrown at us, it developed easily and at the right pace. And there were just enough hiccups along the way to make it relatable and believable.
There's no real surprise to the story, but it's not predictable either. When you read this story, even tho you know the HEA ah-ha moment is at some point coming, you'll still be anticipating when.
Really quite GOOD!

In my travels through the wonderful Montana Born books, I do my best not to miss any. That turned out to be huge for this book. I hadn't read the first book in the Wildflower Ranch series when I started His Outback Cowgirl. What a mistake that was! Despite these books all being connected, for the most part, a reader can skip around. But, because of the connection between this book and Cherish Me, Cowboy, it is imperative to read it before this book. The heroes are brothers and events that take place in Cherish Me, Cowboy directly affect events here, and the knowledge a reader needs to fully understand the characters. I started this book, then went and read CMC, and then came back to this one.
Ethan Morgan is a man who requires stability and safety, a man who doesn't take chances and doesn't want to take them either. He prides himself on his ability to use words and not fists (in contrast to his risk taking brother). A childhood filled with moving and fear has shaped him. Even the relative safety of his father's ranch isn't going to allow him to lose his control or his cool. In Marietta with his brother and looking after his cantankerous father and his father's ranch, he finds himself "babysitting" visiting Bridie.
Bridie is Zane's (Her Big Sky Cowboy) half sister and she has followed her mother - who is also Zane's mother - to Marietta after the death of her father. Her plan: meet her family and recover from her father's death by hiking and photographing alone in the hills. She needs the solitude and the danger to help her. But Ethan's father has other plans. He's worked out his matchmaking plans for Cordell and now has his sights set on Ethan's love life. And he's decided Bridie is the one. She's not interested in having a babysitter and Ethan doesn't want to be with a risk taker.
But it doesn't matter. Bridie needs Ethan to help her grieve and Ethan needs Bridie to help him let loose just a little. His Outback Cowgirl is sweet and emotional, dangerous and fun. Ethan and Bridie complement each other well, giving strength where the other is weak. A couple of rustlers later, a beautiful waterfall and sunrise, and a cave set the stage for a beautiful match. I enjoyed this book a lot: the sweetness, the emotion, the complementary characters, the way it all just fit. I wished it hadn't relied quite so heavily on assuming the reader already knew the brothers, but other than that, a lovely book.
