Description

A HEAVY CROWN

Three daughters were born to High King Uorsin, in place of the son he wanted. The youngest, lovely and sweet. The middle, pretty and subtle, with an air of magic. And the eldest, the Heir. A girl grudgingly honed to leadership, not beauty, to bear the sword and honor of the king.

Ursula’s loyalty is as ingrained as her straight warrior’s spine. She protects the peace of the Twelve Kingdoms with sweat and blood, her sisters from threats far and near. And she protects her father to prove her worth. But she never imagined her loyalty would become an open question on palace grounds. That her father would receive her with a foreign witch at one side and a hireling captain at the other—that soldiers would look on her as a woman, not as a warrior. She also never expected to decide the destiny of her sisters, of her people, of the Twelve Kingdoms and the Thirteenth. Not with her father still on the throne and war in the air. But the choice is before her. And the Heir must lead…

Advance Praise

Praise for THE TALON OF THE HAWK:

“A competent romance set in a fantasy world…series fans will find this installment satisfactory.” – Publishers Weekly

“The saga of The Twelve Kingdoms returns in grand style! It takes a great deal of trust for Ursula to accept that Harlan is interested in her as a woman; his position as a mercenary means he’s skilled at playing courtly games. She’s always possessed a physical strength, so it’s beautiful to watch her accept her own personal power, as a woman and as a daughter of Salena, even when her stubbornness gives you fits. Harlan is her perfect match because his talent at observation allows him to see beyond the tough warrior image she employs to avoid showing her feelings. This is a complex world full of danger, subterfuge and secrets with empowering female characters who are not afraid to fight for their future.”– RT Book Reviews, 4.5 Stars Top Pick

Praise for THE MARK OF THE TALA:

“Well-written and swooningly romantic.” —Library Journal, starred review

“Will captivate you from beginning to end with a richly detailed fantasy world.” —RT Book Reviews

Praise for THE TEARS OF THE ROSE:

“Although The Tears of the Rose picks up immediately after book one, new readers will have no trouble following along as the events surrounding Prince Hugh’s death – at the hands of Amelia’s sister – are quickly described. Amelia’s journey from pampered princess to empowered woman begins with sorrow and pain, until she begins to see her purpose and embraces her newfound strength and power. She is a surprising female character, as is the scarred and mysterious Ash. He shows Ami what passion and love truly mean in the sexiest way possible – loving her unconditionally even when it seems impossible for them to be together. One of the highlights of the Twelve Kingdom series so far is that the women are charged with saving themselves and creating their own happily-ever-after, with the men surrounding them just one part of the process.” – RT Book Reviews, 4.5 Stars Top Pick GOLD

"A romantic story within a fantasy landscape. Kennedy creates a well constructed world, and Amelia has a solid character arc." - Library Journal

This is an amazing book I hadn’t read the first 2 books yet but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of this one. I am going to get the other because the writing was very well done and the world building clearly laid out so the reader didn’t miss anything without reading the others in the series. If you like the fantasy series you will love this one. I have tried to find other books as some others and finally I have found one.
