This is a cute story about a young girl and her pet elephant named Pete. The story tells of all the things that the two of them do together. The illustrations are very cute - I especially liked the one of the elephant hogging the little girls bed. It is the perfect little story for any child how has a stuffed elephant they snuggle or really any stuffed toy as their best buddy.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Adorable!! The child's love for her pet shines right on through-and even though an unusual pet, young children will be able to make the analogy to their own pets. Good for young readers to practice on, and for the "read to me" stage.
This is a story of a girl and her elephant, Pete. It is a cute rhyming story of their adventures together. Perfect for beginning readers.
The illustrations were just OK for me.
A children's book about a little girl who has a pet elephant called Pete, and all the adventures they get up to. It's a cute storybook written in rhyme which I think will be fun for little ones to read. The amount of words per page is also small enough to not be overwhelming for young readers. The artwork is sweet too.
This book was just okay. The words and illustrations didn't really excite my 6-year-old daughter.
If you love elephants, this is already a perfect match. Kids will just love. The illustrations are fantastic.
This is a very sweet, rhyming book about a young girl and her pet elephant, Pete. The pictures can best be described as "Happy" because the two friends are delighted to spend time together throughout the day and then the little girl sleeps on top of him at night since there isn't any room left on her bed.
This is definitely a book that will put a smile on a young child's face and may very well be one of those books that the very young would like to read again and again.
What a fun book to share with your little one. The characters are adorable and the message is positive and full of love. Please trust me, after it's read to your child ... forget the dog or cat ... she will want a pet elephant of her very own, just like Pete.
The antics and adventures that these two share proves beyond a shadow of a doubt how special their friendship is. The book is written in rhyme and each page naturally flows into the next. The sweet couple share feeding, bath, and play times that radiate pure bliss and happiness. They are inseparable and you know by their facial and body responses, the feeling is mutual.
I especially love when she rides around on his back after coming home from school for snacks and she sleeps on his head because the bed is too small for both of them to fit. I know you will be charmed by the colourful expressive illustrations that portrays the love between a cute little girl and her BFF elephant, her Pete. I highly recommend this book for you to check out.
This is an adorable book. I read it to my daughter and she liked it a lot. When the book was finished she asked me for a pet elephant though which is not great for me!! Very cute book.
This book is cute with rhyming text too,
About a pet elephant, called Pete it is true.
He has lots of fun with his friend you will see
If you look at the pictures in this book like me!
The pictures are colourful and bright.
The rhyming verses are short and just right.
So escape to the place where elephants are a pet
And see what they are up to, please don’t forget.
Sharing this lovely book will be great fun
Especially at bedtime when the day is done.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the rhymes, but this book needs a better cover and black font. Overall, it was cute but not perfect.
I Love My Pet Elephant by Lauren Micchelli would be the perfect bedtime book to read to a young child. I know my kids would have loved this story when they were young.
I Love My Pet Elephant is written in rhyme making it fun to read out loud. The pictures are cute too.
Recommend.
Review written after downloading a galley from NetGalley.
I Love My Pet Elephant by Lauren Micchelli, illustrated by Thomas Barnett is similar to Clifford the Big Red Dog without the inherent charm. Totally written in rhyme with colorful illustrations, this book is the story of a young girl (un-named) with a flying pet elephant named Pete (the name of the author's brother). They share together during lunch time and bath time and play together while swimming and sledding. When riding their bicycles, Pete's is too small, and at night he takes up the whole bed, so she has to sleep on his head. Not very complex or imaginative, the story does deal with the familiar and the simple text is perfect for preschoolers or beginning readers. The expressions on both girl and pet are also sure to please the little ones. Three stars and a thank you to Netgalley and First Edition Design Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Charming story of friendship between a little girl and her pet elephant.
I always prefer rhyming prose in children' stories because it makes them enjoyable to read and to listen to.
Humorous illustrations add to the narrative which sparks the imagination.
