What a genuinely creative idea!! Really enjoyed this, and I know my grandchildren will as well. Perhaps a little too lengthy for a bedtime read (could be done in two nights' read) but great for young readers ready for some length who will be engrossed.
A lovely bedtime story of a young girl, Maddie, and her stuffed dog, Murphy. Maddie makes a wish one evening that she could go to the moon. After she falls asleep, she finds herself getting her wish come true. Most exciting of all, her dog Murphy has come with her and he can talk. The story would make a lovely little bedtime story for a young child. The story involves imagination and a love of doing fun things, like talking to an alien. Most kids would love to be in Maddie's place. The story is quite fun and the illustrations are creative.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
My grandson loves to look at the moon. It was for that reason I chose to read this book. Here Maddie's mom tells her if she makes a wish on a star it may come true, but only if she doesn't tell anyone her wish. Maddie "travels" to the moon with her favorite stuffed animal, a dog she named Murphy. The book's premise is inviting,; its execution not on target. It would've worked better to have less words and more pictures, letting the reader do more independent thinking. The light bulb station was cute but doesn't connect.
This is a delightful story about a young girl, Maddie and her stuffed dog, Murphy. One night, Maddie’s mom tells her that if she wishes on a star, her wish may come true. Maddie wishes that she could see what is on the moon. During the night, she travels with her stuffed animal to the moon. Once there, she meets Davis who works in the control center for the galaxy.
The ending of the story leaves the reader with uncertainty as to whether Maddie was dreaming, or her adventure on the moon really happened.
Children will love this story and I can imagine all of them making their own wishes on stars to see what happens. This is a wonderful book to engage young imaginations.
The Snootzytime Adventures of Maddie & Murphy is a adventurous story of a girl and her stuffed dog, Murphy, who go on adventures in her dreams where Murphy becomes a real dog. I honestly didn't like the illustrations. The manga eyes might have something to do with it but I am not the biggest fan of that kind of drawing style. It doesn't take a lot away from the story though.
The first thing which stuns me, that it's Snootzytime for Maddie and Murphy and not Snoozytime. I was hoping to find some explanation in the book, why the word is here spelled with an extra "T", but found none and can just assume, it's because the adventures are of a little girl and her favourite stuffed animal, the dog Murphy.
Maddie loves to look at the moon and her mother tells her, if you wish upon a star, it may come true. As it's bedtime, Maddie snuggles up with her cuddly toy Murphy and is soon fast asleep.
All of a sudden she wakes up and finds, that she's floating in zero gravity. Luckily Murphy is with her and tells her, they are on the far side of the moon. They see a light in the distance and when they get closer they find a door with the words Control Center on it and behind the door the two meet a rather cute alien.
Turns out, the alien needs help, as one of the stars has burned out and a light bulb change is required. Maddie and Murphy are happy to be of assistance and give their best to "bring the star back to light".
Far too soon it's time to say goodbye to the alien and the moon and Maddie finds herself falling until she wakes up in her bed.
Sadly, it was all just a dream. But wait! What's that? Was it really just a dream?
The book, which is enhanced with sweet pictures on every page, is a cute little story, which makes a lovely bedtime read for small children.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book.
Maddie and her bunny, Murphy, head to bed and Mummy tells them about the moon and stars. I do this with my daughter (2 and a half years) so when we read this together she thought it funny. Maddie and Murphy fall asleep and head off to dreamland and end up on the moon and in space. All sorts of fun takes place including putting lightbulbs in the stars.
The illustrations were nice but I felt they would probably be better in a print version of the book, rather than as an ebook.
When her Mum tells Maddy sometimes wishes made on a star come true, Maddy wishes to go to the Moon. This story tells what happen when her wish comes true and the adventures she has there with Murphy.
Beautifully illustrated, this is the author’s second children’s book. It is delightful and will be a great bedtime story for younger children, probably inspiring them to have lovely dreams exploring the moon themselves!
Teachers could easily use this to help inspire their pupils to write their own adventures, choosing different destinations but writing for the same target audience. The art work is appealing and certainly enhances the story’s appeal.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another instalment in Lauren Micchelli's colourfully illustrated tales about Maddie and her dog Murphy, this story sees Maddie entranced by the night sky, and then going on an adventure in space. Little girls may love following Maddie on her adventures, as she gets to talk to the galaxy controller and help stars retain their brightness. The story unfolds nicely overall, with some delightful moments here and there.
We wer scrolling through childrens books here on goodreads and this book caught my sons eye. He is having a good time reading it and really likes the pictures in the book.
The Snootzytime Adventure of Maddie and Murphy was a short but cute read involving little Maddie and her stuffed animal friend Murphy,.During bed time her mom share a sweet moment and Maddie wishes on a star. As Maddie drifts off to sleep that night she dreams of her and Murphy on the moon. The go through a fun adventure on the moon. There new space friend, Davis helps them have a new adventure and they get to explore. They learn new phrases about the moon, stars, and space.
The illustrations were a bit simplistic and would have liked just a few more pages and illustrations o the story. It was still a a very cute read. The book was fun and my 5 year old was really smitten with it.
It expressed a wish to the stars, made by means of a dream, and the little Maddie finds himself exploring the dark side of the Moon. With her the inevitable Murphy, his teddy bear plush that will take you to accompany the discovery of space, its people and secrets.
Forty little pages that are, in my opinion, also a first approach to the wonders of the universe. Who has not dreamed of setting foot on the Moon and discover its secrets? Lauren Micchelli has managed to create an adventure given to girls (but not only) which will encourage the imagination of children. A fluent reading, from the simple language suitable to the first readings in the language to be assigned and accompanied by lively, although in my opinion slightly cured, illustrations Geraldine Sierra. What, recommended!
