Description
The ominous tone of this exquisite collection is established at its onset, as a bereaved father stalks the man who murdered his son. Three stories later, a college student suffers a violent death at the hands of her boyfriend. And in later episodes, relationships falter and fail, not allfatalities being of the flesh.
Featuring some of the Dubus canon's most haunting narratives, Finding a Girl in America is a remarkable lesson in the depiction of the darker side of human nature.
Thisebook features rare photos and never-before-seen documents from the author's estate and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
Award-winning author Andre Dubus (1936-1999) has been hailed as one of the best American short story writers of the twentieth century. Dubus's collections of short fiction include Separate Flights (1975), Adultery & Other Choices (1977), and Dancing After Hours (1996), which was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist. Another collection, Finding a Girl in America, features the story "Killings," which was adapted into the critically acclaimed film In the Bedroom (2001), starring Sissy Spacek, Tom Wilkinson, and Marisa Tomei.
