PLUMB BOB, by Stephen SJ Hall, was written with three objectives in mind. First was for establish definition of excellence and communicate how is a is obtained. Second was to introduce an original theory of ethics which, all assemble, meets requirements for a true ethical theory. Third person establish a symbol for excellence all of which is copyrighted in this book and thus the property of the author. Excellence is defined as “ Consistently Meeting Right Standards.” Consistently meeting standards is a common definition of quality assurance and by introducing the word ”right” we introduce ethics which results in a definition of excellence being the inseparable combination of quality assurance and ethics. The new ethical theory introducing this book is clear and simple easy to teach and administer. It also meets the definition of a true ethical theory meeting that it is applicable to all people regardless of race, creed, religion, sex, sexual preference, nationality or any other differentiating features. It is readily acknowledged at the editor’s theory of ethics when I really be adopted by the general public until it has undergone the test of time and has been analyzed by those who deal in the ethics arena. Although chapters two through seven, which introduced six prevailing ethical theories are rather difficult reading (which are intended to make the obvious point that prevailing ethical theories are difficult to understand) the book has been written in a language that is clear and simple and is priced at a level which makes it readily available.

Finally, the Plumb Bob designed by the author is based on Aristotle’s proclamation that ” we are what we regularly do therefore excellence is not an act, it is a habit.” The selection of the plumb bob is a symbol for excellence counselor Bible verse, Amos seven versus seven and eight. These verses and by the Lord, or higher power, setting a plumb bob is based among the people (interpreted mean a guide to right living.
