Description
All the good men and women, past and present, who shone a light for others to follow, had their own share of demons to conquer, and they emerged victorious.
Malcolm is a young Harvard graduate visiting Italy. He befriends an enigmatic priest who offers to give him a tour of the Duomo Cathedral. The truth unfolds; this so-called priest is actually the devil, and he is after Malcolm’s soul! In their travels to get to the cathedral, Malcolm and the devil encounter people with various sins. Their names are written in the devil’s book; he will claim their souls. Malcolm argues with the devil over the alleged sins of these people while at the same time a little fearful; will the devil take his soul, too?
“You may as well call me the devil, for I might as well tell you, I am indeed the devil.”
“That’s impossible; the devil would not dress like a priest, carry the holy book, wear a cross, and work in a church.”
The devil smiled and said, “Why not?”

"Human life is all about experience and the fulfilment of desires. Souls are no business of human beings themselves. That's a matter between God and me."
The Devil's Way by Lamees A. is an intelligent and interesting read. I enjoyed it very much and would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in philosophy and the nature of good and evil. Despite the heavy subject matter it is written in a highly engaging way and makes a good story!
Malcolm Murray, a Harvard graduate, is on the cusp of joining his father's law firm but has taken a year out to travel across Europe and 'find himself'. Malcolm is ostensibly on a quest for knowledge. In particular he wants to understand why there is so much suffering in the world when humankind is able to achieve such amazing things.
In Florence he meets a charismatic and intelligent cloaked priest who offers to show him around the Duomo Cathedral. To his surprise the priest seems to have odd views about God and morality, and the intellectual Malcolm eagerly engages him in conversation.
Thus they embark on a discussion and debate about the nature of God, evil and human nature, but unfortunately for Malcolm he is in the company of the Devil and the Devil wants his soul. Malcolm is convinced of the fundamental goodness of human nature so the Devil decides to educate him on evil by taking him across the world to prove his point...
Can Malcolm save his soul, or will the Devil add another name to that dreaded little book?
