Description
Unlucky in love, Maddie St. Clair hides behind an antique store and her mudlarking hobby. That is until she finds a medieval ring that throws her back to 1102 Cumberland and into the life of Lady Madeline Vincent, heiress to Norman lands and about to be married to an autocratic Baron, William Dowell, nine hundred years her senior.
Lord William Dowell protects his own. Usually, from his closest neighbor and long standing foe the Baron of Aimecourt. Forced to marry his dead enemy’s daughter, Lady Madeline, by King’s decree, he hides his growing respect for his wife behind a wanton mistress. Yet when Madeline’s life is threatened, William’s loyalty to his kin is tested by the astonishing desire that flares between them. Not to mention the love that Madeline ignites that would last an eternity. If fate will allow . . .

I really liked this book! I am not one to go for the time travel romance books but I do sometimes love the story so much it hard to say no too. This book was one of them. I must say I did like how the heroine did the best she could living in the past time. The hero was sl0w to act like the hero but when he did so he won me over. I overall loved this book and the authors writing. I would recommend this book!
Maddie lives in London, is single and has a small antiques shop of her own. She likes to go out and about trying to discover new treasures. One day she uncovers a boxed ring in the sand. She takes it home to research it and while cleaning the box and ring she can't help but try it on.
Next thing she knows, she is in a horse drawn carriage on the way to her wedding and it is the year 1102 and the ring is gone! Her maid thinks she may have hit her head because they went over a bump and she fell of her seat, this is the only excuse she can think of as to why Maddie is asking such strange questions such as the year and where she is.
When Maddie gets to the chapel where the wedding will be, she tells her groom William she can't marry him but he reminds her that the King has ordered this. She ans William marry and he sends her on her way, informing her that they will not be spending the evening together. She is surprised but she finds that William is a cold, stern man.
It seems that her and Williams family have been in conflict for many years and the King decreed there to be a marriage to forge the families together,
Will Maddie ever find the ring to go home? What will happen with William?
I loved this book! I would call it a "time travel fairy tale", lol. The writing was so smooth and I felt like I could "see" everything in the book in my mind. That's when I know I like a book! The characters are well developed also.
Maddie was a sassy one and it gets her in trouble. Women in that era did not have the right to speak like this! William is a very cold, arrogant man in the beginning but it doesn't take long for Maddie to start getting under his skin. He was brought up to hate Maddie's family as the real Maddie was brought up to hate Williams family. Our Maddie doesn't know this though.
She is attracted to William but doesn't want to act on it because she is planning on going home once she finds the ring. Williams' mistress also lives at the keep with them and Maddie finds this unbearable, she will not be with him if he can't respect her enough to get rid of his mistress!
Something really surprised me and caught me off guard toward the end, never expected it.
I HIGHLY recommend this book. I never wanted it to end.......
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book!
