"Some writers are thoughtful. Some have style. John Daly has both. When I read his work, it's time well spent." - Bernard Goldberg, New York Times #1 bestselling author of 'Bias'
"This book has so many twists, turns, mis-directions and layers of plot that I even forgot to eat where I was so involved. The characters are larger than life and when you think you know them there is another surprise just around the corner." - Best Selling Crime Thrillers
Sean Coleman is back in the latest thriller from John A. Daly, set in the mountains of Winston, Colorado.
Six months after the murder of his uncle, Sean is trying to get his life together. He's stopped drinking, he's taking better care of himself, and he's working hard to keep a fledgling security business afloat. At a blood plasma bank Sean frequents to earn extra income, he meets the distraught relative of Andrew Carson, a man who went missing weeks earlier on the other side of the state, with a pool of blood in the snowy driveway of his home as the only clue to the man's fate.
Sean decides to help in the search for Carson and quickly finds himself immersed in a world of deception, desperation, and danger---a world in which nothing is what it seems, and few can get out of with their lives.

Welcome back, Sean Coleman, you old so-and-so ...
Sean is slowly getting back to reality. He isn't drinking anymore and he is trying to really make a go of a security business.
Then he falls into investigating the disappearance (murder?) of a man with the only clue being blood on the driveway.
This was supposed to give Sean new direction in his life, but is actually threatening his life.
Sounds intriguing? it is, believe me!
I found Blood Trade very engrossing and gripping. Fantastic.
Absolutely fantastic. Loved it. Great plot great characters.
I was offered and advance copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.
The second in a series that will certainly continue, this book is a darned good read. The status of hero is shared by a super cop now living in a small community and his hapless (formerly) alcoholic brother-in-law. The main characters are well developed and the storyline good. This reader was torn between who to cheer for (the 'goodies' or the 'baddies') on several occasions and in many respects, the plot is quite unique.
An enjoyable read with characters that wouldn't fit in with either the 'gung ho' or the 'splendidly rich and beautiful' crowd that usually populate American action stories and all the better for it!
This is a stand alone book despite being the second in the series. My enjoyment wasn't marred by not having read the first and I will certainly go back and read the predecessor.
Pretty good read. Kept the pages turning. Well written and entertaining.
This is the first book I have read by this author and can be read as a stand alone novel. Sean Coleman is a believable character with many human flaws and is facing problems we all do each day. He has an alcoholic past which has caused all who know him to not take him very seriously. Sean becomes involved in the disappearance of the brother of the man he meets at the blood bank where he donates blood and as he becomes more involved in trying to discover the fate of the missing man he is not sure he is prepared the handle what he finds. Fast read with twists and turns. I would like to thank the publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.
Blood Trade John A Daly 4 stars
Can anyone really go from town drunk to hero?
Andrew Carson has had a bad day, culminating in a blazing row with his daughter, where both said things they will later regret. Then he comes across a crashed car and parked nearby a motorist who is not prepared to get involved. Andrew can’t drive away and just leave someone to possibly die and so he starts to climb down to look for any survivors. His day continues to get worse as the driver is not only unhurt but is also violent and demands that Andrew drive him to Denver which Andrew is determined not to do. He manages to get away and home to the safety of his garage, but the stranger has hitched a ride in his boot and Andrew is stabbed in the stomach.
Sean Coleman is the town drunk, or at least he used to be, but now that his uncle has been killed and left his security business to Sean he has cleaned up his act and is trying to become a respectable business man. The business isn’t doing well and whilst he struggles to pay off the mortgage, Sean volunteers twice a week at a clinic which pays him hard cash in exchange for his blood plasma. Sean has a soft spot for Jessica, one of the nurses and one day he finds her crying over a newspaper article. It relates to her uncle, one Andrew Carson who has disappeared in suspicious circumstances. Hoping to gain Jessica’s gratitude, Sean involves himself in the search for Andrew only to find that that the twists and turns of event leave him, (and the reader,) breathless.
At the same time Sean’s brother-in-law, Gary Lumbergh the local police chief, finds himself and his family being threatened as a result of a spectacular case he recently resolved.
This book has so many twists, turns, mis-directions and layers of plot that I even forgot to eat where I was so involved. The characters are larger than life and when you think you know them there is another surprise just around the corner.
This is a very easy book to read and lacks much in the way of sophistication, but that doesn’t mean it is lightweight; it really does pack a punch without stretching the credibility too far. A very satisfying crime thriller which I thoroughly enjoyed.
