Initially, the short chapters, dual perspectives, and shifting chronology may prove challenging. However, once readers become accustomed to the fast pace, the intertwined stories make this novel impossible to put down. Many threads are woven throughout the book that are carefully drawn together in the end. The few loose ends that remain will most likely be picked up in later sequels. The multidimensional characters and complex writing will help teens share in the frustration, disappointment, excitement, and hope of the relatable protagonists.
