LOVED it!, Devoured it in a day. Brilliantly told stories that were so true to their time. Emotional and sad and yet another book that makes me thankful I live now and not back when these stories were told.
Not my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. A very touching storyline set over different time periods. A letter was found in a jacket. The finder goes looking for the person who should have received the letter. There were a number of issues handled - domestic abuse, unwed mothers, reuniting mothers and children. An interesting way to highlight unwed mother / Irish convents in the 1940s as a social answer. I did not see that coming.
A thought provoking way to dovetail the two stories. Thank you
Tina is in an abusive marriage and saves all her money to leave him.
Tina finds a letter in a suit at the second hand shop she volunteers at.The letter is addressed to somebody named Chrissie but never delivered from 1939.Tina opens the letter and finds the letter is from somebody called Billy so tina decides to track down Chrissie and give her the letter she finds out Chrissie is the daughter of a middle class doctor the are quite different but over time will have a direct link on what happens in the story.
The book travelled between 2 stories Tina in present day and the people behind the letter.
A wonderful story.
Thank you Netgalley and the Author for a chance to read this book.
