4 First Loves, First Heartbreaks...
And Then The Way We See Ourselves Stars * * * *

This new series based on Fairy Tales of our childhood uses them to bring all of these experiences and lessons to light. We are given in this first entry our main characters and one of them is the Irish bar in Brooklyn, Sully's. There they will connect as it is the safe, warm haven for them all.

In this book, we have the premise of the Ugly Duckling...but is not really the main focus in my eyes. Yes, Dawn felt she was awkward, not pretty or popular... but for me it was more than the surface pain. Our Dawn grew up in Australia, was a child of parents who had this drive to better the world... to go places and make it safer for its children. Dawn loved being with them, discovering all the mysteries of the new locations.... but then one day her mother decided to send her to her aunt in Upstate New York... away from them... away from everything she loved and knew. She felt unwanted and abandoned...Her aunt didn't really know how to deal with a young girl... never having any children of her own...and Dawn would overhear the frantic conversations between the sisters re-enforcing the internal doubts Dawn had. Her aunt decided to send her to boarding school at St. John's when a scholarship became available. There she was known by the Sisters and students as "the Scholarship girl" and felt like an outcast.

She somehow wasn't alone in those thoughts, though. There were others who had those feelings of being outsiders and somehow they all became roommates and deep friends. There was Faith, the Irish lass with brothers who were talented, handsome and a father who had the pub, Sully's in Brooklyn. Faith lost her mother young to cancer and it was her cross to bear. There was Mercy, a beautiful Brazilian girl with a wild streak and open heart... stuck in a land so different from her own and then the last and newest entry to this group, Zel...a girl who had lost all her family except an uncaring brother who couldn't wait to get rid of her.

These four girls grew together into the young women they were together during Dawn's biggest moment in her young life... and the girls had no clue as to what was happening. Dawn did what she always did... dealt with thing alone... because that was what she had been taught by life...a lesson she took with her into her future.

As the main part of the book opens, we are going to a reunion of sorts. Dawn has grown into her beauty. What may have been off center as a child and teenager now has developed into a woman who has grace, poise and assurance. Too bad she still feels it is all a facade. She has become an award winning authority in the Scientific community with her company devoted to DNA testing. She is respected and regarded with high esteem. She comes across as driven and focused yet cool. She does not allow herself to have relationships; sex...yes, and she likes it...but no relationships and will cut the men off if they even hint at it. She has her reasons and keeps them very close to the vest.

She has moved to New York to further her company's profile and all of the other women are here too. Mercy has arranged an overdue by 10 years reunion. Dawn had kept in touch with Mercy and Zel...but stayed clear of Faith since that night at school. She couldn't deal with the idea of being around her and hearing about her brother Finn...it would have been too much...

For Finn was her First Love... Her First Heartbreak and with those experiences she couldn't even share them with her best friends, the only close people in her life...Finn was Faith's brother after all...

But oh, Finn...when they met... it was something which could not be believed for Dawn...He took a look at her and told her how beautiful she was...Her, the awkward one, the one who needed Mercy to show her how to fix her face and pluck her eyebrows and what colors would compliment her...This man/child clearly saw the beauty which was Dawn... and it reflected in his eyes and touched her heart. They were young, inexperienced and crazed together by it all. Things happened in a rush… a frenzy and then Finn went to Julliard and Dawn was left to deal with the aftermath....alone again.

This reunion caused dread in the pit of her stomach but Dawn clung to the hope Finn would not be at Sully's tonight...after all he was an acclaimed, World Class violinist, much sought after and would probably be in some foreign country playing with their symphony orchestra as a guest artist to a standing room only crowd.

The women walk into the pub and all the memories come flooding back to Dawn as if she was there on that fateful night with Finn. She feels it... a knowing and turns to see him there...watching her...

Finn has always thought about Faith's friend...he never forgot the connection between them...how could he... she was his First... and together they shared a fumbling, special time together. He wanted to connect again throughout the years but somehow Faith lost touch with Dawn.

Faith missed her but never pursued it... she thought the loss of the friendship was due to the trouble they were punished for that night at school... taking wine from the church and all... With the memories of what the Sisters made them do...Faith thought Dawn held that against her as she was the one to take the wine and bring it back to their room.

Finn has traveled all over the world; played on violins worth more than the Mona Lisa and just as precious... but looking at Dawn now here at Sully's...his heart is full and he moves to connect with her again.

These two are like magnets... the pull is so strong, the pub and all the noise fades away. Banter and desire surface, with Dawn laying down her ground rules firmly... No Relationship... just sex. Both are kidding themselves into accepting this idea. They agree to the terms with Finn knowing it is the only way to be with the girl who had won his heart so long ago.

Of course, when they have their first time as adults... it isn't just sex for either of them... no matter what they may say verbally....both know it but let the elephant in the room walk around and silently laugh at them.

Dawn has other issues she is dealing with...they rule all of her life choices and how she regards her future. They are the reasons she is so focused and driven in DNA research and testing for disease. She feels she only has a limited time of productivity and it feels the clock is ticking.

Kelly Hunter has done an excellent job in presenting serious issues about self image, life expectancy and the burdens we bring onto ourselves. She drew a clear picture of the relationships between the girls, their brief insightful back stories and the love between Finn and Dawn. She did this in a mid length book and it didn't feel as if there was anything missing for me. All of the pieces fit with us interested in following up in the books to come. What is lovely is the heart of this series. It is plainly there and is reassuring.

On a side note, Ms. Hunter shared the role model for her Dawn, Elizabeth Holmes. She is a woman who saw a need for blood tests for us without the usual red tape. At 19, she started to pursue her dreams of bring medical treatment to the people before a deadly symptom occurred. She developed a blood test of a single drop from a finger tip which could be used to check for multiple diseases rather than the usual tubes of drawn blood. I was curious so looked her up and found this link of her discussing her vision on TedMed http://tedmed.com/speakers/show?id=308981.

She is Thirty Years Old.

Per Wikipedia,
"As of 2014, Holmes, has 18 US patents and 66 non-US patents in her name and is listed as a co-inventor on over a hundred patent applications. Holmes is the youngest self-made female billionaire on the Forbes 400 list, where she is #111 with an estimated net worth of $4.6 billion."

As you can see, Elizabeth Holmes left a very real impression on the author and by sharing this tidbit with her readers in the front of the book; I had the role model for Dawn firmly planted in my mind.

This series will continue with Tempting the Knight by Heidi Rice, Taming the Beast by Lucy King and Seduced by the Baron by Amy Andrews. It looks like Tule Publishing has another winning series on its hands...

Kelly Hunter's story of unrequited love, low self esteem and being true to yourself is a winner in my book. Dawn is one of those characters that you think you have figured out but as you dig deeper you discover that you weren't even close. Finn comes across as an easygoing guy but he has hidden layers as well. My favorite kind of story is a book that deals with serious problems and subjects but not in an overly preachy way. Pursued by the Rogue did exactly that.

Pursued By The Rogue is the first book in the four novella Fairytales of New York series. Based on The Ugly Duckling, it's a promising start to what I'm hoping will be another great series from Tule Publishing.

"I can only offer general friendship and sex."

Centralising around four ladies who were friends at boarding school, first up is Dawn and her no-strings fling with her friend's older brother, respected musician and the boy she lost her virginity to, Finbar Sullivan. This couple brought much of what I want to find in a romantic read; sexy together with a great chemistry and some revelations, I found myself shedding a few little tears as Finn's words to Dawn were full of feeling and emotion. Sweet, tender, heartfelt words that just unleashed the romantic in me and made me fall in love with him.

"I would have been there for you if I'd known...You didn't have to be alone."

The ugly duckling trope is a firm favourite when done right and Kelly Hunter has done it justice, as well as handling real and difficult issues with sensitivity and emotion. If you have a couple of hours to spare, this is a book to fill it with and I'm very much looking forward too seeing what the rest of the series holds in store.

What an emotional novella! You will need an entire box of tissues to experience the highs and lows of Kelly Hunter's Pursued by the Rogue. The rogue in this story is Finn Sullivan, a professional violinist that is able to communicate his feelings through his mesmerizing music. He is a kind and sensitive man with a tendency to go a little alpha in the bedroom. Dawn Turner is the geneticist and CEO that Finn pursues. Faith, Finn's younger sister, was one of Dawn's three best friends while attending boarding school.

Dawn has always considered herself to be an ugly duckling or misfit, even though she has developed into an amazingly smart and pretty woman. She works constantly in order to improve the world, and to avoid the realities of her past, present and future. Ten years after their one night stand, Dawn and Finn meet again and embark on a "sex only" relationship, which naturally doesn't work because they are very much in love. Lots of baggage is unveiled, which ultimately brings them together.

I really enjoyed this story. To begin with, the cover of this novella is extremely creative and sexy. Secondly, I really liked both Dawn and Finn, and there was never a moment that I did not want them to end up together. Their sex scenes were both hot and passionate. Lastly, the secondary characters added a lot of interest and fun to this well-written story. This is book one of four in the new Fairy Tales of New York series from Tule Publishing. Each story is focused on one of the four women that attended boarding school together.

Loved this book!! My heart fell right into the characters and their struggles!! Dawn and Fin are perfect.....wish it were longer, deeper and more drawn out, but otherwise, spot on!

Although short, this book provided a satisfying HEA for two creative people. Dawn and FInn make a great couple and I was happy that they ended up together.

The story was a little slow to start, but once the author developed it I couldn't stop reading! There is so much more to this story than the blurb gives: angst, love, pain, regret, abandonment, family issues and heartache. I'm looking forward to reading the additional stories by this author once they're published. I'm hoping she brings back this couple at least in small parts so we can see how they're doing.

Wonderfully written, great character development and a plot that is unexpected!

A nice start to a new series featuring a group of friends that originally met in boarding school! This is a very emotional read filled with sadness, romance, love, and hope. The main characters of Dawn and Finbar have incredible chemistry and passion. When Fin decides there is no way he is letting Dawn go again, he has to find away around her incredibly tight defenses. This is one I definitely recommend.

The title can be misleading, a reader might think this is one novella that would be simple and lighthearted, in fact its quite the opposite. Pursued by the Rogue is the first book in the new Tule Publishing series Fairytales of New York which is a modernization of fairy tales (or its theme) centering around four friends from an all girls school. This particular one is a reimagining of the Ugly Duckling. Dawn has always felt awkward and a misfit in looks and upbringing especially when she was transported to live in the US with her aunt instead of with her parents in the outback of Australia. If her parents seem to not want her who else will see her as something special. But the three friends she has made in school seems to have made up for some of the insecurities a burgeoning teen has. Mercy, Zel and Faith were her angels but it was one of Faith's older brothers, Finn Sullivan who made her feel the most special until one night of magic had some consequences that couldn't be undone. When this story starts its been ten years since the friends last seen each other and also when Dawn had last contact with Finn. Now both of them have conquered their individual dreams, Finn with being a world renowned classical violinist and Dawn opening up her own gene research center. But what was between them has never been resolved and when they meet again they restart their affair. For Finn Dawn has always been the one but for her she can never have been because of the secrets she keeps.

This for a short story packed quite a punch with all the emotions and the characters persona unveiling before the readers eyes. It had all that heartwarming, sweet and yes sexy but without sacrificing how the relationship really developed tone that had readers begging for more. A very good introduction to a series that will have readers hooked from the get go.

Pursued by the Rogue by Kelly Hunter is the first novella in the multi-authored Fairy Tales of New York series from Tule Publishing. Each of the novellas is inspired by a classic fairy tale, with this first one finding inspiration in The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen. Dawn Turner has never believed herself as a beauty or anyone worthy to invest time in or commit to personally, so that even as a highly successful adult who is now CEO of her own company, she still has certain doubts. She’s also keeping secrets from her friends and from Finbar Sullivan, the one guy who’s ever made her feel truly beautiful. This is a second chance romance but one with a twist because the resistance to any sort of committed relationship is coming from the female lead, making it somewhat of a rarity in the contemporary romance genre that carry commitment-phobic storylines. It’s a fairly short read but paced really well and doesn’t leave you wanting.

This was an excellent beginning to the series, introducing readers to the four friends who will each get their stories told—Dawn Turner, Faith Sullivan, Zel Madison, and Mercy, whose last name I don’t recall being mentioned. While this was about Dawn and Finn, we gain a bit of insight on Faith, Zel, and Mercy with the snippets of information they share. I’m curious to find out what the three other books will be based on, especially since I enjoy stories that find inspiration from much loved fairy tales and then have their own unique touch to them once they’re set in more contemporary times. This first book had a bit of humor mixed in with a fair dose of angst-driven drama and I certainly liked that it was about falling in love and the importance of family and being able to forgive and accept the shortcomings of certain family members. Pursued by the Rogue is my second Kelly Hunter book and I have yet to be disappointed. This gets 4.5 stars! ♥

A new series based on four friends from boarding school. Dawn, known as the ugly duckling, trusts no one for fear of being sent away or left behind. Finn and Dawn had a one night stand in high school and he has never has forgotten that special night. Fast forward and they reconnect. With Dawn's trust issues she agrees to a relationship with casual sex. Can, Finn make Dawn realize that it much more than that.

This is an emotional story that you will want to read from start to finish. I could not put it down. Love, Finn he is my hero for not giving up on Dawn. I highly recommend this story. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Seriously I didn't want to give this book, a novella even, five stars. You start throwing them around and they aren't worth anything. But at 54% I teared up and it was pretty much all over for me from then on. I have a rule. If it makes me cry, I'll give it five stars.

Dawn is the Ugly Duckling of the group of four girls who are the heart of this series. She's always known it so the one time, when she was 17 and Finn Sullivan (brother of her friend Faith) made her feel beautiful, it stayed with her. Unfortunately so did the aftermath.

Ten years on and all the girls are back in NY so of course they meet at Faith's family's pub. (bar, hotel, whatever) And Finn is there. He's now a world famous classical musician (think Andre Reiu but younger hotter and IRISH). Dawn is the head of a genetic research company she founded so not too shabby either.

This reunion is fraught with emotion. Neither has forgotten the other but Dawn has very good reasons for holding back. *sniff*. This is a seriously good read for a novella length and I'm looking forward to the other ones in the series.

A good take on the Ugly Duckling. Dawn never felt like she fit in, since she was sent away without details, then put into a boarding school in a different country. Finn was a sweet partner for her, and they made a good couple. I just wish the fear she had of being like her father, once that was discussed it made things stronger. Good story, I recommend for a light read for the summer. This is the first of four girlfriends stories.

Four friends, from such different walks of life first began their friendship at a strict Catholic school, One night with some stolen altar wine earned them separate dorm rooms, but the friendship stayed. Years and distance separated them for a time, but now all the women are in New York City and it’s far past time that they reunited.

Pursued by the Rogue is Dawn and Finn’s story. They had met and connected as teenagers,. Finn thought she was beautiful, though she knew better and they had one unbelievable night together, each other’s first which made their coming together all the more beautiful. They might have had a future, but Dawn’s determination to maintain her aloneness, even in her pain and Finn going off to Julliard to work his musical magic… well, Dawn broke ties with everyone and worked on her medical research, beginning her own company and still remained alone. Her choice, her decision and she guarded that aloneness like a princess in an ivory tower.

Finn made certain to be at Sully’s, his family’s bar and the place where the reunion would take place almost ten years later. He’s never forgotten Dawn and very much intends to see her again. And again, if his charm will work correctly. He felt the connection all those years ago, and if he’s right and that feeling is still strong when he sees her again – there is nothing that will stop him from being a part of her life. Except maybe – Dawn.

This is a novel that I do not want to give much away. This one needs to be read, to be experienced and to feel as you read it. I could completely understand why Dawn acted as she did. I wished differently for her, but I got it. So my trying to explain that to you is simply robbing you of an amazing reading experience. Yes, this is a wonderful, charming love story – yet there are deeper layers to this story that are well presented, easily made part of the overall story in a way that is real. Bad things happen to good people. It’s called life – and we live it the best we can. If we’re really lucky we get an amazing partner to share that life, the good and the bad with. Such a man is Finn for Dawn. She just has to be brave enough to reach out and say yes.

I can strongly recommend Pursued by the Rogue for anyone who reads romance, of any genre. It is a emotional, satisfying read that will cause you to think just how you would have reacted in a similar situation. A novel that is a joy to read and teaches a life lesson along the way — what more could you ask for? Pick this one up, give yourself some quiet time and simply fall into Dawn and Finn’s story. You will find a fascinating, enjoyable experience along the way. Don’t forget the tissues – you may need some.

Fairy Tales of New York series is about 4 best friends who grew up together in a boarding school. Dawn, Mercy, Zelda and Faith. Except for Faith, each has seemingly been abandoned by their respective families and develop a close knit relationship with each other.

Book 1, "Pursued by the Rogue" kicks off with an amazing story about Dawn and Finn, who is Faith's brother. Dawn considers herself an "ugly Duckling" but Finn thinks her otherwise. As teenagers they are instantly drawn to each other. She dreams of a future together with Finn. But life gets in the way and Dawn distances herself from Faith and Finn with secrets of her own,

Years later at a reunion, she and Finn reconnect but Dawn's priorities have changed. She only wants a no strings attached relationship and her focus is her genetic research company that she has put all her efforts into building. FInn agrees with her but intends to change her mind. Soon Dawn realizes she wants more than she thinks but her secrets will not allow her to dream of a future with Finn.

I read the second half of this book with tears in my eyes. A short and sweet book about love lost and regained with many sad scenes but a lovely HEA.

This is the first book in a new multi-author series The Fairy Tales of New York. It is a really good start to the series which features a group of four friends who went to boarding school together. Dawn's story is an emotional read filled with heartache but also love, and hope. Dawn sets very strict boundaries for their "relationship", however, Finn finds himself wanting more and he needs to find a way around the walls she has built. Dawn has a couple of secrets that come out and Finn's reaction is so touching....the things he says just make you want to cry. This is a really good read and I look forward to reading all of the friends stories.

This is a magical beautiful story one that you will read in one sitting it will have you smiling and grabbing the tissues as we journey with Dawn and Finn to a HEA that takes a few years to get there and a very emotional one as Dawn especially has a few things that she needs to work through and with feelings that are so real. Dawn has always felt like the ugly duckling and being sent away to boarding school back in The States while her parents are still in Australia. This is the start for Dawn where she meets three other girls Faith, Mercy and Zel and they form a bond of friendship that lasts for years but Dawn falls for one of Faith's brothers at the young age of 17 and never forgets him as Finn never forgets their night together either.

When ten years later and now Dawn runs a company that does DNA research and Finn is such a master of music with his violin they are re-united this starts a vey sensual and emotional path with ups and downs and the honest opening up of deep feelings that you will need tissues but it is a story of fun and friendship you will also be laughing at the banter between Finn and Dawn.

Don't miss this story really it is beautifully written it is a story that will pull you in from the first pages and yes you will be smiling and crying throughout thank you MS Hunter for a fabulous story and I look forward to the other three in this series.

There's so much story and emotion in this novella, that is heartfelt, and beautiful.
Dawn has felt rejected and an outsider most of her life. She felt she was abandoned by her parents when they send her to the States to go to school. She had a moment in her teenage years, that she felt beautiful, adored, and wanted, with a dreadful consequences, that broke her heart.
Now, with a second change to feel cherished, she started a hot fling with Finn, no strings, no future, just here and now, for a moment.
But there's so much sorrow, pain, and fear Dawn carries in her. The solid, caring, good man that Finn is, will pull the strings of her heart and soul, and make her open up for the first time with her loved ones. And makes Dawn to understand that she does not need to go through life alone anymore.
There are many beautiful, captivating scenes in the story, that goes deep into the soul, sorrow and depth of the Irish mindset. Its allure and charm in the endless love, commitment, and support of the inner circle of friends and family, the delicate way Finn processes his feelings through exquisite music, and the growth and healing Dawn has to deal with. The new series, tales from New York, sets off in a noteworthy way in this emotional, poignant, and engaging story.

A good hot read. Enjoyable. Unique story.

This emotional, heart-tugging reunited lovers story tells the tale of Finn and Dawn, two people who connected once as young adults but then were separated over distance and time for ten years. When they are reunited, they find that the moments they spent together haven't faded for either of them, though they have both changed. I really enjoyed this story (there were definitely some teary moments) as Dawn has struggled with many things over the course of her still young life, and especially the terminal illness her father has, that she may also be carrying genetically. She worries about getting involved with anyone when she can't guarantee them a real future with her. Finn was a wonderful hero as a classical musician (a first for me in a romance novel!)who expresses his emotions equally with his music and his words. He struggles to understand why Dawn won't open up to him and why she wants a sex-only fling (which, incidentally, leads to some steamy scenes between them). It's a battle of hearts and minds as Dawn must decide whether to take Finn's obvious affection for her and let it become part of her life. It was a really enjoyable read and as the first in a series of 4 stories featuring Dawn and her 3 boarding school best friends, it will definitely lead me to reading more of them! 4 stars.

A wonderful love story with just enough angst to make it a powerful - tearful read. Loved the chemistry and depth of Dawn and Fin.

Who doesn’t love fairy tales? And when those fairy tales are made of devilishly handsome males and sinfully beautiful females, with so many hang-ups and insecurities, it only adds more charm and sizzle as readers relate to their fears in life.

And the “Fairy Tales Of New York” are just that and some more. Co-written by four talented and lovable authors, the series is just pure magic and pixie dust as they take us on the journey of four friends through their life.

First in the series, “Pursued By The Rogue”, is just that. Supremely intelligent and hardworking Dawn Turner has made a name for herself in genetic testing and runs her own company. But all the fame and money doesn’t erase the fear of genetics running in her family nor do they help in fading the memories of the sinful Finbar Sullivan.

One night ten years ago changes all and ten years later, one glance changes her future. Finn is a world-class concert pianist and one glance from Dawn is all it takes to start where they left off.

I just loved, loved this story!!!!! It’s beautiful in its love, rich in its friendship and support, deep in emotions as Dawn struggles with the possibility of a genetic disease and Finn solidifies his stand right next to her, and powerful with its chemistry and strength of families.

And Kelly Hunter is dead on with her writing prowess!!

I predict this series to be very successful. The premise is strong, and this first offering from Kelly Hunter sets quite the precedent. Pursued by the Rogue is just a well crafted romance. Don't take that lightly, as it's not an easy task to write a lovely romance. Kelly Hunter manages to give readers vivid, layered characters with clear voices. This evenly paced romance is beautifully written and I appreciated the lover's ups and downs on their journey to happily ever after. I look forward to seeing what the other series authors have to offer.

I received a copy of this story through NetGalley from the publisher/author for an honest review. This is the first book in a series written by 4 authors. I really like the idea of taking a fairy tale and modernizing it. This one is "the ugly duckling" and first centered around 4 friends from boarding school. I really liked Finn and his Irish family. His sister, Faith, will have her own story. It's a quick read and I really enjoyed the last half of it. Dawn is very cold and standoffish for multiple reasons. Once we learn the biggest reason, the book became very emotional for me. Of course, there's a HEA and I'm anxious to read Zelda's story in book 2 - Tempting the Knight by Heidi Rice. The one line that made the book for me? "Have you ever danced at the edge of the ocean in the moonlight?" Swooooon.

It was first Fairy Tale for this series. It is about four twenty something women finding their true love and this was story of Dawn and Finn. Dawn, Mercy, Faith and Zel met at St. J and one night one of them stole the wine from the kitchen and that changed course of their lives. Dawn was smart and intelligent out of four. She is successful scientist with gene lab under her belt. However her childhood was not happy. She was lonely and only things kept her going was her friends and after the incident she focused in study. her father has Huntington's and she was afraid she carried the same gene and she gave herself a deadline until 30 to enjoy whatever she can. Pursued By The Rogue is the first of a new series of novellas set in New York and loosely based on fairytales. This book is based on the Ugly Duckling and tells the tale of brilliant but insecure Dawn Taylor and Finn Sullivan, the man she's not stopped thinking about since she lost her virginity to him as a teenager.
Bits of this book really tug at your heartstrings. Finn is a violinist and composer and when he lets his violin do the talking it's incredibly moving. Both Finn and Dawn are characters I identified with and cared about and cheered on. I found this book incredibly moving. KellyHunter has done it again. Recommended!

I absolutely adore Kelly Hunter. Her writing style flows so nicely and you can always feel the emotions of her characters as if they were your own.

After being abandoned by her mother and shut out of her father's struggle with Huntington's disease, Dawn has shut herself off from everyone. Determined to never hurt or be hurt again the last thing she needs is Finbar Sullivan back in her life.

Finn has never forgotten his one night with Dawn and when they meet again he is determined to keep her this time. Trouble is he has no idea what Dawn has been through since he saw her last. These two sizzle right off the pages. You can feel Dawn's fear and pain as well as Finn's passion for both his music and for Dawn. The secondary characters are very interesting as well and I can't wait to see what the rest of the series holds.

I was provided a copy of this book via netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.

I was so excited when i got accepted to read this new four part series, each of them is based on a fairy tale which i loved, its a great idea to do modern spin on our beloved tale's.

Dawn Turner considers herself as an Ugly duckling she does not do relationships. Yes she has her reasons and they are really good ones. But there is one that she has never been able to resist the very magic in Finbar Sullivan’s touch, so she decide's to negotiates for the next best thing with him. Scorchingly Hot, casual sex.

Finnbar Sullivan is a World class musician he is a master at pushing the limits to get to what he wants, and he wants Dawn...... Every little bit of her. But soon he wants more than just casual intimacy, he wants Love, commitment and a future for them both together. So he reneges on there deal and composes a brand new one.

So what’s stopping Dawn? And will Finn’s new offer be enough to change her mind once and for all?

What an amazing start to a fantastic new series, this story will pull at your heart strings for sure and be aware you may need some tissues at hand as well.

This book is all about second chances, and taking the chances of living there life to the fullest. Dawn and Finn are just so perfect for each other.

Dawn she is definitely the uptight one, she is very organised and loves to stick to the rules. she has allot of insecurities especially about her looks. But she does have some awesome friends who are so loving and supporting the kind of friends ever woman wishes for.

Where Finn is the free spirit, he is chilled and easy going and extremely confident in who he is as well as what he does. Finn is so lucky he has such a great loving family.

Their past goes so much deeper than Finn could ever no or believe, Now Dawn’s very future with him, may not be as easy as he hoped it would.

( my favourite excerpts from the book )

"I love your hands..."
"You should. They worship you."

I fell totally in Love with Finn he is ever woman's dream man you may even say your prince charming.

This story had some of my favorite elements - high school romance revisited, an irishman, etc. It was pretty good. I'd like to read more by Ms. Hunter.

This is the first story in the Fairy Tales of New York series that focuses on four friends from boarding school who were split up after one night's mistake. Now, ten years later they are reuniting and recapturing their friendship. Dawn Turner, has always felt like the Ugly Duckling. Her parents sent her to Boarding School with no explanation, and the only time she felt wanted was with her friends. Now the head of a successful biotech firm, she meets up with her old friends with trepidation. She never told them that right before they were split up, she and Faith's brother Finn Sullivan got together. One of many secrets she has buried, she comes face-to-face with Finn and realizes that he hasn't forgotten her.
Dawn has haunted Finn for 10 years. With a chance to reconnect, he takes the no-strings affair she offers, convinced he can change her mind. As things progress, secrets come out, and Finn has to decide if he is strong enough to fight for Dawn.
A truly emotional read, both these characters are well-developed. Dawn is a strong, but lonely woman who keeps everyone at a distance. Finn is also a strong character, but has the confidence and drive to go after what he wants and succeed. This is an emotional read that will make you laugh and bring you to tears and end in a very satisfying way. A great start to the series, I am very excited to see what the other three authors have in store for the other three friends!

Kelly Hunter's Pursued by the Rogue is the first in the Fairy Tales of New York series. The series will follow a group of four friends. Hunter kicks off the series with an Ugly Duckling retelling. I loved Finn. And with their past history, I couldn't wait to see how he was going to get through to Dawn. Hunter had me feeling all the feels with this one. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Pursued by the Rogue by Kelly Hunter is a twist on the Ugly Duckling and I thing she did it well. Dawn has her reasons for only doing casual sex, so when she gets the opportunity to be with her friend's older brother Finn again, she takes it. Well, Finn and Dawn have a past. They lost their virginity to each other ten years earlier and the result of that caused scars for Dawn. That, combined with some family health issues, causes Dawn to push everyone away. Finn falls for Dawn immediately and knows that she is the one for him. He starts pushing her for more, but she is pushing him away. When her secrets are revealed he must decide if he wants to stay with her or let her go for good. This was a well written story and a good start to a new series. Kelly Hunter is a talented author and I look forward to more books from her in the future. I give this book a solid 4 stars and will be reading more from both this author and this series in the future.

The first time I saw this book on NetGalley, I wasn't tempted at all. After reading the description of the three following books in the series, I changed my mind and I'm so glad I did. The story is full of feelings, hardships and chemistry, full of family, friends and love.

Dawn is a smart, tough woman who has experienced so much heartache in her life. Her parents shiped her from Australia to America to stay with her aunt when she was twelve. No explanations, no reason were given at that time. She later learned that her father has Huntington's disease and her parents wanted to spare her the hard truth. Moreover, she lives with the fear of having the disease herself after she decided to wait to be tested.

Finn Sullivan is one of her best friend Faith's brother. Dawn and Finn met ten years ago, while Faith and Dawn were in school together. Dawn and Finn had a one night stand with an awful aftermath for Dawn. Now, ten years later, the girls are reuniting and Finn goes after Dawn, having always thought about her.

The characters were so great, so real for me. Dawn is so strong, I hope I have backbone like that if something like that happens to me. Finn is the epitome of the Irish man with music in his soul. Seriously, how can we not fall in love with him? With characters like those two, I planed to read this book all over again many times. I highly recommand it!

Pursued by the Rogue (Fairy Tales of New York 1) by Kelly Hunter is the first story in a series of four friends, I really enjoyed this story that set the stage of hoe these four women became friend while in boarding school. Skip to ten years later and the story takes off.

All four of the women are strong and talented in their own fields, though none of them are as brainy as Dawn. I was amazed that this intelligent woman felt so inadequate in her appearance then blooms into other perceived inadequates, but she did make a convincing ugly duckling.

Besides the obvious changes in the story, I loved the idea that her true love saw her as a beautiful woman, hence the swan. Finn makes a wonderful hero especially since he had never forgotten Dawn in 10 years.

Wonderful start to friends of four fairytales, dealing with fears and anxieties that are al o real. Ms. Hunter wrote this story in such a way to cause the reader to have great empathy for Dawn and Finn. I was on edge with them at the doctor’s office waiting to hear the test results.

I look forward to the all of the other friend’s stories. Each of them need a Happily Ever After. The way all good fairytales should end.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.

You know what I love most about Tule Publishing ... most of the books they publish are short, sweet and to the point. Just what you need on a lazy afternoon/evening!

Anywho... Pursued by the Rogue starts off the multi-author series Fairy Tales of New York. It sets the stage, if you will. It introduces our future leads and tells the story of one, Dawn Turner. Her story is not only about second chances, but also risk and reward. You're going to feel a lot in this little story ... Dawn has some issues! But you're also going to believe because Finn is the man that's going to release those issues :)
I love this story because I love Dawn and Finn. They made the perfect yin-yang!

A great introduction to author. Well written

This was such a sweet and sad story; Dawn Turner hasn't had an easy life growing up, after being sent away by her parents and then being sent to a boarding school by her aunt and uncle, she's always felt unwanted. The only person she ever felt wanted with was her friend's brother, Finbar Sullivan. Years later Dawn knows why her parents sent her away, but it's never made the pain any easier; after a reunion with her old friends from high school she re-encounters her teenage crush and first love.

Finbar "Fin" Sullivan grew up to be a famous musician and have a great life, but there is one girl he never forgot. Years later they are brought together again and this time he's not letting go. There is just one problem, while Fin is thinking of forever, Dawn is only thinking of right now.

The whole story, you want them to come together, but with Dawn knowing certain things about her family and what it might entail for her future she becomes the biggest obstacle for their happily ever after. Fin I loved, he was such a caring guy; and everything he does to show Dawn he'll stand by her no matter what.

The Fairy Tales of New York series starts with the same life-changing event in the lives of 4 misfit friends - propelling them into different life trajectories. There is a nod to famous romantic fairy tales but it is subtle and not too domineering in the story. There is a common thread of insta-love/lust that jumpstarts all the relationships but the interwoven stories and well-written characters (main and supporting) do the series justice.

The first one in the series gives a nod to the Ugly Duckling and deals with Dawn and Finn...young lovers who achieved success in the intervening 10 years find themselves as enmeshed as before. Throw in a possible death sentence of a disease...angst, nobleness and lots of crying and hand holding...Sweet, hot and a good second chance story.

Pursued by the Rogue book #1 in The Fairy Tales of New York series.

Pursued by the Rogue was such an emotional story,

Dawn Turner is afraid she has a life altering disease called Huntington so she has no plans to get married and have kids since she doesn't want her husband watch her get sick and have to take care of her like her mother is taking care of her dad.
She doesn't want kids because the disease is genetic.

When she meets her friends after 10 years apart she also meet again her first love Finnbar Sullivan and the strong attraction is still there so they decide to have a no string affair but they soon learn that they care deeply for one another but Dawn is not ready to share her secrets with Finn and it looks like they won't have a future together.

Pursued by the Rogue made me cry and I just couldn't stop reading it.

It was a great read, full of emotions and real life problems.

A great start to a new series from Tule Publishing.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Cute story. I like this group of friends...although to be honest, Dawn kind of annoyed me. I get that she was dealing with stuff, but she was kind of mean about it. Also, we never really got closure on the whole "ugly duckling" thing or what she meant about possibly not being able to have kids in the future. Overall a cute story and I'm excited to see who's next.

Dawn sees herself as an ugly woman. Dawn had traveled with her parents who wanted to better the world for children. Then out of nowhere Dawn is sent to her aunt in upstate New York. Dawn felt unwanted and abandoned. Her aunt had no children do had no idea how to deal with a young broken hearted girl. Then her aunt sent Dawn to St John's boarding school. There Dawn was “the scholarship girl”. Dawn is a beautiful woman but doesn’t feel that way. Faith is Dawn’s friend. Faith had a brother Finn who was Dawn’s first love as well as first heartbreak. Dawn had been Finn’s first and he had never forgot her . Dawn is now the head of a genetic research company she had founded. Finn was a world renowned classical musician. Finn wanted to connect with Dawn again. The attraction is still strong between Dawn and Finn and Dawn states . sex only if Finn wants her.
I really loved this story and plot.I even shed a few tears at times during the story. My heart went out to dawn no matter what she appeared she still felt ugly and doesn’t want to get hurt again even by Finn. I loved the characters especially dawn and Finn and all the ins and outs they go through. I highly recommend.
