Hailey is a sixteen year old girl who's brother is in a horrible accident the night after his High School graduation. Her brother is in a coma, her parents are understandably preoccupied with his recovery, and Hailey start throwing herself into a project of cleaning up the garden of an old abandoned house with her best friend Jenna. The old house was the home of a young man that Jenna's grandmother was in love with in the 1960s, but he was drafted to Vietnam, where he died. In a twist of fate, Hailey ends up time traveling back to the 1960s -- and proceeds to do what every time travel story always tells you not to do -- changes the past. It was an engaging storyline for the most part, but (spoiler alert) I was very bothered by the fact that changing the past worked out wonderfully for Hailey but completely wiped out her best friend Jenna from existence (as well as Jenna's brother, who Hailey had a crush on). Hailey doesn't even notice, though, because once you change the past, it's changed, and she doesn't have any recollection of what life was like before. The lack of consequences intrigued me, and not in a good way. Are you really going to end the book there? I felt like there was more to explore.
