Description
When young Lady Anne Macleod runs off with her true love, the handsome young falconer, Kirk Buchanan, she inadvertently sets off a chain of events that turns her young daughter, Cordaella, into a pawn between wealthy lords locked in a game of power, wealth, and greed.
At age nine, Cordaella is forcibly taken from her Highland home, and given to her uncle. Once there, Codaella learns the truth. She is the heiress to the Macleod fortune, to the dismay of many of her family members.
Thrust into an uncomfortable new life in England with her uncle, the Earl of Derby, she is unaware that she’s being groomed for a marriage to a Castilian duke who cares nothing for her and everything for her dowry…
Will Cordaella continue to act as a pawn in her family’s games or will she seize her own destiny?

If you read Book 3 of The Falconer’s Daughter series, you will need to read Book 4 to see Cordaella find her HEA. With Book #3 turning into a page turner, thriller about mid-way and ending with an action packed cliff hanger, Book 4 starts off with a heart hardened by tragedy Cordaella and her devoted but uncommitted love interest, Bran, who are traveling by ship to London. They become separated again and stay that way throughout most of of this sequel. This short storyline revolves around Cordaella proving to herself and others she is a strong, capable woman. Personally, I think this 120 page read should have been part of book 3. It had a rather anti-climactic, predictable ending. Other than the birth of Cordaella’s child at the beginning, nothing major happens. With Bran choosing duty over Cordaella once again, even leaving while she was in labor, coming back, then leaving again, I found myself thinking him less of a hero. Especially when he was gone five times longer than he thought he would be. Overall, it would be pointless to read this book unless you have at least read book 3.

Book four of The Falconer's Daughter completes the saga of Cordaella's journey from childhood in he Scottish highlands to her teen years at her uncle's home in Derbyshire and her married life in Spain, bringing her back to England as a young widow forced to rebuild her life. This book is gentle and has healing qualities about it, soothing Cordaella as she recovers mentally and physically from the hardship of her formative years. It is heartwarming and endearing and a wonderful conclusion to this interesting tale.
The final installment of the saga finds Cordy dealing with loss and trying to find her way in life. Despite her strength, she realizes how little women's brains are valued in her time. I love how her story wraps and that she finally finds peace. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and following Cordaella's journey. I thought the author did an excellent job developing the characters and the story line. I was pulled in quickly and hooked, anxious to read the next installment as soon as I finished one. I highly recommend the Saga from the beginning. I hope to see more from the author in the future!
I read book 3 in this series, and this one is just as good. The author does a great job bringing the characters to life, and keeping the story flowing. This book is an easy, but interesting read, and I would definitely recommend checking this series out!
