Loved book and story, will be a huge hit!!!
Loved how Kara and Reid kept being thrown together. They made a great couple in spite of themselves.
sign, sign, every where a sign. this was a sweet, heartwarming well written book.
(This review is based on ARC e-book received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion. It will be posted on Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.)
If you are looking for a short but sweet, well-written, heart touching romantic tale, you might want to consider His Touch (Book 1 of Summer in New York series) by Patty Blount. Handsome NYFD paramedic, Reid Bennett, is used to rushing in and saving lives. However, it is his heart that ultimately gets rescued by single mom, Kara Larsen, and her toddler, Nadia. Reid has never gotten over the tragic death of his little girl, Erin, when he keeps running into Kara. Nadia reminds him so much of his loss, in his anguish, he is always seems to be lashing out at Kara. With a backdrop of memories of loved ones lost on 9/11, a great cast of believable secondary characters, this emotion packed story unfolds with angst-filled twists and turns. If my research is correct, “The Christmas in New York” series is based on the love stories of Nadia’s friends and sister. This reviewer would definitely like to read all the books in both series. Please note each book appears to have a different author.
Woohoo! We finally get Kara Larsen's story! Kara was the one character from the multi-authored Christmas in New York series that had yet to have her story told, and she definitely made her mark on me in the fourth and final book, Goodness and Light, which I just discovered has a new title--A Match Made at Christmas. And now, Patty Blount, who wrote the aforementioned series ender that received a five-star rating from me, has written a poignant but hopeful story entitled His Touch, the first book in the new multi-authored Summer in New York series. All four authors have returned to weave new tales to tug at our heartstrings, and I don't think there could have been a more perfect beginning to this new series.
Kara Larsen and Reid Bennett first meet at a CPR class he's conducting, leaving Kara with a less than stellar first impression. Their next three meetings involve Reid rescuing Kara's daughter Nadia and while those first two rescues had Reid thinking that Kara was a careless mother, he quickly realizes that he may have been too harsh in his assessment of her mothering skills, especially when he sees how frightened and desperate she is when the third rescue involves a trip to the emergency room. Kara was abandoned by the father of her daughter while she was pregnant, but Reid's past holds on to a deep pain that he's never tried to deal with and one that led to his then wife divorcing him--the death of their young daughter Erin.
My heart couldn't help but break for both Kara and Reid--Kara for having so much on her plate and trying to deal with everything on her own and still hoping to receive a sign of some sort from her late mother and Reid for the loss that no parent will truly ever get over and for his need to seek advice from his late brother who also died during the September 11 attacks. With all the pain and heartache these two have had to deal with, you know that they're due for some peace and happiness in their lives. They're both believers in signs and the signs appear to have been there from the very beginning for them, but then sometimes, signs can be misconstrued, leading to decisions that cause even more hurt and further confusion.
It was easy to cheer these two on to their happily-ever-after and the fact that the road there wasn't an easy one for either of them made getting to the end even more meaningful. I was also happy that three of the four couples from Christmas in New York made appearances and that fans of that series see where all four of the couples are at in their respective relationships. That's the thing with these characters and stories--you become attached and invested, which is exactly what happened with Kara, especially in her sister Elena's story. If His Touch is a sign of things to come, then the Summer in New York series is one that will be worth reading from the first book to the last. Patty Blount has done it again. Five stars! ♥
His Touch was a good read. This was a story about two people who come together in a time when they both need it and fall in love. They believe in signs and follow those signs to their HEA. I liked how this cast of characters came together when one of down. I want to go back and read the other character's stories that I missed.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review.
Great start to a new series of books. This is a wonderful heartwarming story of two people who are dealing with life's unexpected bumps. Reid is a man who had it all....until he didn't. After losing his daughter he's gone through life making sure he doesn't get close to anyone, especially anyone with a child. When he continuously keeps crossing paths with sassy single mom Kara Larsen, his way of living and his heart are both put to the test.
This is a fantastic story that is well written and with characters that feel real. I definitely recommend it.
Sometimes you’re given a gift in the form of a story. A story that touches your heart, your soul, that thing that we call our “being”, it’s so deep that there really aren’t words for that place… but we know it well.
His Touch is that kind of story. It hits right in the middle of the heart and never lets go. There are many references to September 11, 2001 within this tale, not in a morbid way, but in a remembering the people and what they meant to us way.
Kara is a single parent. Her beautiful daughter, Nadia, is certainly a handful. It seems to Kara that she is doing just about everything wrong. A fact that seems to be reinforced by the angry paramedic that she keeps running into everywhere around New York City.
Reid keeps running into Kara and the heartbreaking Nadia. Just looking into those beautiful baby eyes brings such painful memories. Erin, his daughter, would look up at him with those same beautiful baby eyes – eyes that would never twinkle at him with mischief again. Why wasn’t this mother more careful? Didn’t she know she could lose everything if something happened to Nadia? On some level Reid knew it was his grief talking, his desperate desire to hold his own daughter once more that drove him to say the awful things he said to Kara – but he couldn’t stop himself.
Kara and Reid seem fated to be together, and slowly their attraction becomes the focus of the story. A health scare for Nadia will bring Reid to his knees, and his fears will almost cost him the woman he loves and the baby he adores. Reid has to overcome his grief and Kara needs to understand that she’ll make mistakes, but she’s not alone – and that they need each other to find perfect.
His Touch is such an emotional roller coaster story. You will smile, cry, get angry and remember. Finding their happy ever after may take a while, and each has baggage they need to lose, but these two people need to be together and the journey to get there is fun, charming and touching. I would gladly recommend this novel to any reader at all. ‘Cos we all need the simply feel good stories in our lives.
*I received an e-ARC of His Touch from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
"His Touch" by Patty Blount - this is a story about two people that are lonely and hurting. Kara, a single mom, is doing her best. She loves her little girl more than life itself but she never feels like she's doing a good enough job, etc. Enter Reid, a paramedic, that has several encounters with Kara before pursuing a relationship. I liked Kara - she's strong and a wonderful mom, despite her misgivings. Although I liked Reid, I didn't like his initial reactions and criticisms of Kara. I'm not sure what made him such the expert and had her seeking his advice. That irked me quite a bit. Despite that, it was obvious that he was falling head over heels for both girls, even if he didn't want to admit it. This was an enjoyable read that didn't take too long and didn't have an overabundance of angst and drama.
The first in the Summer in New York series, His Touch was another enjoyable offering from Patty Blount. Whilst easily a standalone read, it's also linked to the Christmas in New York series released last year and if you read these, you'll have already met Kara and her daughter, Nadia so I was please to see she got her story.
"She had a perfect baby girl. Who needed anything more?"
Sweet, romantic and full of emotional moments, Kara and Reid are both lonely, haven't had it easy over the past few years and both suffered loss in the 9/11 atrocities. Whilst I felt their romance seemed to be paced a little oddly; they go from nothing to full-on fairly rapidly, they were lovely together, Reid's relationship with Nadia brought a serious dose of cute, and it did bring plenty moments to pull on the heart strings.
If an easy but emotional read with likeable characters is what you're after, this ticks the boxes. 3.5 stars.
I received a copy of this story through Tule Publishing for an honest review (thank you!). This book is part of the Summer in New York series written by different authors. So far, I've read His Kiss by Jolyse Barnett and from what I can tell there is one more - His Love by Jennifer Gracen. These books are tied to another series written by the authors - Christmas in New York. These friends make appearances, but it's not a make/break situation to read this as a standalone. I am going to go back and read this series as I'm more of a completist and like to get the full picture. Plus, it sounds great to read Christmas themed books in July!
Kara is the sister of Elena (A Match Made at Christmas - book 4 of the Christmas series). The sisters lost their mother in 9/11 and this factors into both stories as Reid's brother also died on that day. Again, the story can be read as standalone and is actually the first I read from either series.
In addition to losing his brother, Reid's daughter also died from an accident (not 9/11 related). Kara and her daughter, Nadia (adorable!), are a trigger to his buried pain. At the same time, they help him to heal as he learns to better cope with his loss. Kara is a single mother doing the best she can. Unfortunately, she has several run-ins with Reid which leaves him with the wrong impression of Kara's capability as a mother. He lashes out at her and I swear my heart broke for her for some of the hateful words and accusations he made. He had a lot of groveling to make up for (and I wanted to punch him in the crotch). At first I was a little surprised by Reid's assertive involvement with Nadia's care, but his guidance to enroll her in a daycare with other children to help her development was really interesting and eye opening.
This was a great book and I'm anxious to read the rest of this series and go back to catch up with the Christmas series.
Summer in New York series seems to continue where the winter in New York ended, where we were introduced Kara, and her friends. His Touch can be read as a stand alone novel, the previous history is well shared and explained in this story.
Kara is struggling with her single mom life. She is doing the balancing act with a baby and job and life. She feels insecure as a mother, she misses her own mother who dies at 9/11 attacks, she is tired, overwhelmed, and weary. And then she starts to run into Reid constantly.
Reid is still in recovery from the loss of his daughter. He is not ready for a relationship, and even seeing a baby gives him a panic.
But there's a connection between Reid and Kara, an attraction they can't deny. Nor can't they deny the signs they keep seeing, that makes them to believe they are meant to be together. I loved how they were always there for each other, reading each others needs. The way Reid run into them every time Kara needed it, like serendipity. All the signs they are seeing and experiencing are endearing, who hasn't looked for a sign at an important moment in their lives. The raw pain and mourning both Reid and Kara feel for the lost family members is palpable. The mourning, they are going through, so painful, yearning for their loved ones constantly. The story goes deep, it touches emotions, the insecurity and faulty all parents must feel at times, is real and evident. The romance and feelings built slowly between Reid and Kara, they are so perfect together, for each other. The connection this little family makes within each other is genuine and true, the connection to 9/11 is gripping, the support and love from their friends and family admirable. A poignant story, also filled with hope, joy, faith in the future, and love
~ Five Spoons!
I receive an ARC from netgalley for an honest review. This story is very good. The story is different and beautiful.
This is a lovely, emotional story about lost loved ones and present struggles. We met Kara in the Christmas in New York series, about four close friends all finding love. Kara was the sister of one of those friends and had been alone and pregnant. Jump forward eighteen months and her little girl, Nadia, is full of energy and Kara is struggling to balance everything as a single mother. She is also struggling to live up to the memories of her own mom who tragically died on 9/11. She is feeling very down on herself because she keeps bumping into a grouchy paramedic, Reid, who seems to be judging her at every turn.
Reid is judging her, but it isn't intentional. He’s just a man who knows exactly how bad things can go in the blink of an eye, if a parent isn’t watching their child. He knows this truth all too well. He’s not trying to make Kara feel bad, but he finds it hard to rein in his temper when the beautiful little Nadia keeps running into him everywhere he turns. As much as Nadia makes Reid’s heart hurt, he can’t help being drawn to her – and her beautiful mother.
This is a sweet story with a lot of underlying sadness and tragedy. Reid is a mess, and he has shut himself off emotionally from everyone, but he does try to change and give Kara a chance. He is a good man underneath all his guilt and the scenes between him and Nadia were touching. I liked Kara too, even if she is trying to live up to impossible standards, she is doing her best for her daughter, Nadia.
There are some heart wrenching scenes in this book and the author has a great way of conveying the characters heartache. This book does a wonderful job of dealing with grief and loss, and the unrealistic expectations of memory, it is a touching book. I look forward to reading more in this series.
I'm becoming more and more of a Patty Blount fan. I absolutely LOVED her contribution to the Christmas in New York "series". I was absolutely ecstatic to get Kara's story- whom we met in A Match Made at Christmas. Kara and Reid have a pretty rough start and continue to run into speed bumps as their relationship progresses. It's a bit of a two steps forward, 3 steps back situation at times. I really enjoyed this book and I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for more from Ms. Blount and Tule publishing!
Review to be posted on Amazon and Goodreads.
Kara is a single mom with beautiful daughter Nadia. Kara's sister Elena is from the book Blount's previous book A Match Made at Christmas. Kara's overwhelmed with her daughter by herself but she hates asking for help from everyone even though she has .friends and her sister. She feels she should be more responsible for herself. Nadia is an energetic child who doesn't want to sit still. Kara meets handsome paramedic Reid at her CPR class. Both did not have very good impressions of each other. Kara thought he was mean and rude and Reid thought Kara was irresponsible and not a fit mom. She keeps running into him in numerous ways. When she called 911 for her daughter, he comes to rescue her.
Nadia really believes in signs from her mother who she lost on 9/11. She was looking for a sign from everywhere. As the time goes she believes Reid was sent for her. Reid has his demon as well as Kara does. He lost his daughter and he couldn't face her death. Nadia keeps reminding him his daughter Erin. Both had to overcome their fears and finally finds each other. I loved when Kara when she propose to Reid in the bathroom.. It was definitely different. I did enjoy reading this one better than the other one.
It was quick read and it was fun.
4.5 stars
His Touch was such a good read.
I loved seeing Reid and Kara fall in love. After the way their first few interactions went you'd think these two would never get along lol It was heartwarming and entertaining seeing them come together.
Loved baby Kara, she was such a sweetheart and totally won Reid's heart =)
A very enjoyable afternoon's read, highly recommend it.
Thank you Tule Publishing via Netgalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
5 star review from Kitty Angel:
I had so much fun with this book. I smiled, I laughed and just really enjoyed reading “His Touch” the first in the Summer in New York Series. Patty Blout just made this such an easy and lovely read that I am looking forward to His Kiss and His Love and really hope that the authors that wrote them make me fall in love with their characters too.
I love reading quick, summer reads especially when the the leading man happens to be a hot paramedic with FDNY. **swoon** Mix that with his scruffy attitude and precious little girl and you have me hooked. And, believe me, Reid was one hot male. He may have had some hardships and wore them on his sleeve but, he turned out to be just was the doctor ordered for Kara.
Kara was a strong-willed, loving women. Even though she had a hard past, she stood up on her own two feet and made a life for her and her daughter. She may have had some “woe-is-me” times but they were well deserved. Enter Reid and her life becomes totally complicated. Then bring in the ex with some horrifying news and Reid becomes her rock.
Together, they save each other. Kara makes Reid take a good look at his life and face the past and his grief. Reid lets Kara know that she doesn’t have to go through life alone.
I loved this story. Patty Blount made you feel for both of the main characters in the book and she surrounded them with loving, fun friends that would do anything for the other, especially in times of need. She moved the story along and didn’t drag out anything that would have had you wondering when she was going to get to the point. Reid was handsome, strong and vulnerable. Kara was loving, caring and fragile. Put them together and you had an HEA that was touching and beautiful.
Reid Bennett lost his brother on September 11th and through him became an EMT. When he met Kara Larsen because her child ran away from her while in a store, he was very quick to judge and told her exactly what he felt.
Kara was trying to raise her daughter by herself and trying to have a successful career, just like her mother had. The mother who seemed perfect before she died on September 11th. But nothing seemed to be going right at all and when she saw Reid for the 3rd time after a 911 call it became even worse. It didn't help with Nadia's father appeared out of the blue with some secrets that she should have known about.
There is a true fire between Kara and Reid, one that neither wants to extinguish and could keep on going as long as they stayed together.
His Touch was such a sweet romance that had its weighty moments. I really was rooting for Reid and Kara to get it together and stop fighting their attraction.
Single mother Kara Larsen has done her best to care for her young daughter and keep her safe, although when she loses her daughter in a department store and a handsome paramedic finds her little girl, Reid confirms Kara’s fear of being a horrible mother. Yet there’s something striking about this man and Kara can’t seem to get him out of her mind. When he’s the first responder to her 911 call when Nadia, her daughter, has breathing trouble, she doesn’t want to let him go.
Reid Bennett has made it his goal in life to help parents avoid tragedy that could have been prevented if the parents paid more attention to their children, so when he finds a baby wondering a department store alone and her mother playing on her phone, Reid’s fear causes him to react poorly. He knows he should avoid the two of them although Kara needs his help and soon he finds himself falling for both Kara and her daughter.
While Reid has no intention of falling head-over-heels for a woman and her child, he discovers he’s doing just that until potentially earth-shattering news lands in their lap. Now Reid has to decide if loving Kara and her daughter is worth the risk of losing another person he cared about.
I loved His Touch. I could not put it down. It’s the first in the Summer in New York series but it’s also a spin off from the Christmas in New York series, although I haven’t read the first series and thankfully I didn’t feel left out.
Kara and Reid are both grieving. They both lost people that they cared deeply about—Kara her mother and Reid his daughter—and it has affected the way they’re living their lives. Kara is also struggling with raising a child on her own without the help of a mother to guide her. I really liked that Reid was willing to step in and show Kara how to become a better parent. While Kara is stubborn, she knows that Reid’s right and eventually stopped fighting him and started taking his advice.
Reid has been fighting his attraction to Kara because he doesn’t want to date a woman with a kid and he doesn’t do long-term commitment anymore, yet he knows that he’s a goner when he meets Kara. And while he tried to fight it, he eventually went with the flow and allowed himself to fall in love with both of them.
The conflict in the story comes from a health scare with Nadia. It makes both Kara and Reid reevaluate things and Reid isn’t sure he can risk losing another person. While he steps up and makes sure Kara gets the answers she needs, he starts to pull away from both of them.
Overall, I enjoyed this one. The characters had amazing chemistry and the plot flowed brilliantly.
His Touch was sweet and while there were some serious points, it was still a feel good read that had me smiling. It made for a perfect weekend read and I was so glad that Kara was able to help Reid heal. The only problem with this was one was that it seemed a little short. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, I just would have liked to have seen more of their story.
I really enjoyed His Touch. While it is a light Read for the most part, it deals with some pretty challenging topics and handles them pretty well. Key to this book are the themes of grieving and loss and guilt. For Kara, it's the loss of her mother, killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre. Kara feels her mother's absence acutely. She craves he mother's guidance and advice as she struggles to raise her own daughter but she is forever measuring her own parenting skills against what she remembers of her mother's and finds herself wanting. Reid is mourning his daughter Erin and struggling with guilt over her death. He's not willing to commit to Kara and her daughter Nadia in case something goes wrong with that relationship too.
This story is nicely crafted and well balanced and kept my attention from start to finish. Both Reid and Kara are likeable characters and I wanted things to work out for them. If you're looking for romance with a touch of healing this book will work nicely for you.
I loved the Christmas in New York Series in which this new Summer in New York Series is tied. I didn’t know that until after I started reading His Touch by Patty Blount. Tule Publishing is doing for New York what it did for Montana with the Marietta Series. Many of us who live elsewhere in the US see New York as an icon and since 9-11 as a place of tragedy. These stories make New York come to life with the lives, loves and continued healing that is happening.
Just like Goodness and Light novella, His Touch is an authentic, heartwarming and moving story. I can easily see why providence is given credit for Kara and Reid coming together. Reid is harsh to Kara in the beginning. While both are dealing with grief and the struggles of life in different ways, if I had been Kara I would have avoided Reid at all cost. Thank goodness, little Nadia has a different opinion than mine.
This is a do-not miss story by Patty Blount. Truly she put that new laptop to excellent use in writing His Touch.
This is a great story with well developed characters, building on previous events but still robust enough to be read as a stand alone. I’ve enjoyed all the books I’ve read in this series, each with an additional different focus. In this book that focus explores how childhood medical issues can impact on the child throughout their life and on how they interact with others.
Bree, Elena, Kara, Jade and Cassandra are best friends and relate to each other as though they are sisters. Their mothers had been sorority sisters in college and had remained best friends afterwards. Their children had grown up sharing holidays and key family events together. They do have real siblings too and this book is one in a series by different authors about the girls and their relationships.
Single Mum, Kara, has an eighteen month old daughter, Nadia. She’d been in a long term relationship with Nadia’s father even moving to New York with him but he’d run off as soon as they confirmed she was pregnant. Kara is an independent lady, with a great ob and support network of family and friends but she really misses her Mum, who was tragically killed in the 7/11 Twin Towers attack. She particularly misses her when she’d like help or advice about Nadia.
Read is a NYFD paramedic who lost his brother in the same disaster. He later also lost his daughter in a tragic accident, her loss impacting negatively on his relationship with his now ex-wife leaving him divorced and alone.
The three first meet when Nadia runs off whilst her Mum is shopping in a store. He shouts at Kara, suggesting that she’s an inadequate mother and should pay more attention to her daughter and less to her mobile. He does regret this, especially as they keep meeting unexpectedly and attraction flares but both are extremely wary. Can they put the tragic events of the past behind them and build a future together?
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kara has her hands full she has a toddler who seems to like to disappear and seems to be up to no good. She has work and she has being a single mom to deal with. She knows she wants to be just like her mom she just wishes her mom could be there or would send her some sort of sign. When Reid crashes into her life she knows this can not be good at all. Reid knows one thing he will never loose another child on his watch and he wants everyone to take that just as serious. When he keeps dropping into Kara's life he never expect what happens and he knows one thing he want never to be part of someones life again and he never wants to deal with loss again. I really loved being able to catch with the girls from the series Christmas in New York. What a fun group of friends and to follow up will not let you down with this bunch. The story was so well written and had you laughing and really enjoying reading it while there where certain parts that were so heart wrenching you just wanted to cry. I loved how the author wrote Nadia's personality into the story it really was an amazing part of this story and it was fun to read her little personality. You really can not go wrong with this fun read.
This was my first experience with Ms. Blount's work, and I have to say it made a very good first impression. The story line pulled me right in, and had me so entranced that I ended up staying up into the wee hours of the morning just to finish it. Definitely worth the loss of sleep!!
Kara is a single mother who is struggling to juggle everything in her day to day life, as well as, being a single parent to a young toddler. She often wonders if she is doing what is best for her child and if she is providing a safe enough environment for her. All of worst fears are realized though when she and her daughter are out shopping and her daughter wanders off from her and is found by a handsome paramedic. After being berated by the paramedic about her lackluster parenting skills, she really begins to believe that she isn't such a great parent after all.
Reid Bennett is a NYFD Paramedic, and prides himself on safety, so when he discovers a lost little girl in a department store, and finds her mother talking on the phone and not paying attention to her child, he loses it and goes a little overboard on offering her child safety advice. After three different chance encounters with Kara and her daughter, Reid begins to give in to the spark that is between him and Kara and starts to fall for her, even though that is the last thing on earth he wants or desires. Sometimes though the heart doesn't always agree with the mind...
This book was a refreshing change of pace for me, and I thought the author did an amazing job maneuvering through all the challenges single parents face everyday. It was a heartwarming story, brimming with passion, vulnerability, and hope! And I loved every minute I spent reading it!!
ARC requested through NetGalley, and kindly provided by Tule Publishing in exchange for a honest review.
A wonderful beginning to the Summer in New York series that has ties to the earlier Christmas in New York series by Tule Publishing, but is also a strong stand alone. This was a truly enjoyable read with real and likeable characters.
Kara Larsen has had her share of tough times. She lost her mother in the attacks of 9/11. Then her boyfriend high-tailed it out the door when she told him she was pregnant, so she has worked hard to raise her daughter and maintain her career to support them. She feels she will never measure up as a mother, and feels even more inadequate when her daughter's Houdini stunt brings her face-to-face with Paramedic Reid Bennett and his lecture about being an attentive mother. Reid also lost someone in the attacks of 9/11, but that isn't his only tragedy. No matter how hard he resists, he can't help getting involved with the precocious toddler and her beautiful mother. Can they learn to trust another enough to lean on each other and grow their love?
The characters are extremely well-developed and enjoyable to read. The story kept me involved, and I adored Nadia's antics. Kara and Reid are complex characters that have faced tragedy and also have their every day problems. I enjoyed the story and happily read it through without putting it down. With such a fun beginning to the series, I can't wait to see who we visit next in the series.
*I received an Advanced Copy from the Publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
I am a recent Patty Blount reader/fan. I loved the set up of His Touch. I really liked that Kara and Reid kept running into each other. This is definitely a sign...a sign for both of them. I enjoyed His Touch and can't wait to wait to read the other Summer in New York stories.
I was given a copy of His Touch from NetGalley for an honest review so this is my review. This was a very heartwarming romance book. I loved the characters and the story. I especially liked liked the idea that someone who you had lost lost like Kara did would give you signs to help you find the right person for you and in her case it was Reid. This entire book pulls at your heartstrings from start to finish. I don't want to get into spoilers but for me this was a very emotional book and I loved it. The pairing of Reid and Kara was well written and very well done. The only problem I had with the book was I thought this was the first of the series but it pretty much told how all the other couples got together so one would think this would be last unless is fits elsewhere and that was a bit of a letdown due to spoilers for upcoming books. With that said, I really did enjoy this book, it was a fast read for me and I am going to give it five out of five stars.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley/Tule Publishing for an honest review. "His Touch" by Patty Blount is book one in the "Summer in New York" series. This is a sweet heartwarming romance. Kara being a single parent she struggles to balance work and home. Kara wants to be the best mom possible. Reid is a paramedic who is dealing with his own losses. Reid and Kara meet in a CPR class which didn't end very well. They keep running into each other. Finally, they decided to give their relationship a chance. Their relationship was a bumpy ride. Will they be able to overcome all the obstacles they encounter? This is a sweet and heartwarming story where the characters deal with grief, trust, and romance.
I loved this book so much I read it twice back to back! I would definitely recommend this book!
Summer in New York series ...
Book 1: His Touch by Patty Blount Excellent start to a series. It was fun and heartwarming, well written and relatable. Nothing over the top, just simple romance.
Book 2: His Kiss by Jolyse Barnett Really well written story of struggle and growth and perseverance and love .... This series keeps getting better and better..
Book 3: His Love by Jennifer Gracen Another excellent read in this series. Well written with endearing characters and an engaging story-line. The story is passionate with just enough drama to keep you hooked.
Three excellent authors, each with their own unique style, have managed to write three stories, all with a central theme, but not connected in a way that they could not be read as standalones. So pick any of these quick reads or pick all three. You will not be disappointed!
