** BARNES AND NOBLE TEEN SELECTION 2015: TOP 7 YA's THAT WILL LEAVE YOU TERRIFIED OF THE OCEAN ** - BNTEEN.COM
Eila Walker knows luck is not a friend, so she is downright shocked to inherit a million-dollar Cape Cod home. And yeah, her new town isn't perfect: the cheerleaders are heinous clones, the local undertow can kill ya, and her Great Grams was supposedly fried by lightning in the harbor square. Still, Eila is hopeful her luckless days are in the past . . . until history decides to repeat itself.
When Raef O’Reilly becomes her friendly, yet weirdly protective shadow, Eila thinks life is pretty darn perfect – until she is hauled beneath the waves by an unnatural undertow. Revealing coal-black eyes and iron-like strength as he rescues her, Raef can no longer hide what he is . . . or what she can do. Eila, last of her kind, can supposedly channel the power of human souls, while Raef is more adept at stealing them. Even worse, the legend about her ancestor isn't such a myth, since Eila’s grandmother was one heck of a warrior until her lightning-like power backfired.
A power that is written all over Eila's DNA.
Determined to stay one step ahead of a dangerous clan that is hunting her, Raef, along with a motley crew of high school rejects, will do all they can to protect her. But as hidden pieces of their brutal histories unravel, Eila begins to understand just what went down in the harbor square. She soon realizes that following in her grandmother’s fearless footsteps may be the only way to save those she loves . . . including Raef.
Advance Praise
“Undertow is fiercely original- unlike anything I’ve read before. The characters are interesting and relatable and their banter is adorably charming. Within these pages I found everything from mystery to romance to laugh-out-loud wit. I found myself wishing I knew the characters and got to exchange laughs or sassy remarks with them. I may have even swooned one or two (or twenty) times, but hey who’s counting? I think what I appreciate most about this story though, has to be the originality of it. It’s refreshing to read something that I’ve yet to come across in my many years of avid reading. I fell madly in love with this series and dove straight into the second book, unable to wait for even a day between books. It’s THAT good. Obviously, I highly recommend you all read this book… and then come back and tell me what you thought!” – She Reads She Blogs
“I signed up for this review 3 months ago. I knew I had to read it since my time was up but I really wasn't feeling it. For this, I want to kick myself. Once I even got 10 pages in, I just couldn't stop reading. I wasn't able to fully function until this book was done. The character development is so detailed and well written, the writing itself is breath taking, the romantic side of it is so sweet, and the story itself has wonderful plot. The book is about 400 pages, but I didn't feel like length of the book like I do with most books. I read on and wanted more. I love when a book can make you forget about how long it is and you can just enjoy it.” – Paradise of Pages
“This book was truly unique in its mythos and execution. I couldn't even fathom being bored for a second! The world was intricately woven with loads of details and hints as to the nature of each character and yet left me completely surprised by many of their actions and motives. The true allegiances of some characters totally floored me and I can not think of a way to describe any part of this book without major spoilers so I won't even try!
Full of suspense, mysteries and intrigue this paranormal tale will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time! Action and adventure pepper this chilling thrill ride from beginning to end. The myriad relationships are incredibly complex and full of drama and a twisted dash of romance! This series is a must have for any paranormal enthusiast and I can't wait to read Stormfront (Undertow Book 2)!” - Goodreads
