Description
Snoopy is one small dog with one huge imagination! From day to day, he can be found stalking the other Peanuts characters as a fierce ready-to-prey vulture, leopard, mountain lion, piranha, or creature from the sea. But his grandest flights of fancy are when he’s airborne as the Flying Ace on his Sopwith Camel seeking out the evil Red Baron. His forays take him through the World War I French countryside in repeated attempts to achieve his quest.
In Snoopy: Contact!, enjoy his adventures along with his other unusual encounters: catching bird burglars stealing his Van Gogh, challenging Lucy to an arm-wrestling contest, and becoming the Cheshire beagle.

A Solid Snoopy Collection
The first book collecting "Peanuts" strips came out in 1952, and for the next fifty years the Peanuts gang was a major part of public culture. Everyone knew Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang and most people were familiar with the main running story arcs. Of course, as is so often the case, some of the supporting characters became very popular in their own rights, and Snoopy was probably the most important and recognizable breakout character.
Well, time has not been kind to the physical reminders of the gravy days of the 50's and 60's. My old collections have torn paper covers, sad dried out spines, and brittle yellow pages. Who knew back then that those one dollar each collections needed to be printed on archival paper?
This collection is just right for anyone who wants a broad and reasonably thorough reminder of the best of Peanuts. As you might expect, the focus is on Snoopy rather than Charlie Brown, which is a final indignity that Charlie probably would have seen coming. But, because Snoopy was central to pretty much everything that went on, especially in the earlier days, (but without any thought balloons of his own in the very first years), a Snoopy collection ends up being a survey of the whole Peanuts gang.
I have to admit that I thought the whole World War I flying ace thing went on too long, and you do get a lot of that here. But you also get Snoopy the vulture, Snoopy the bane of Lucy's life, Snoopy and the birds, and of course Snoopy and long-suffering Charlie. There are also a fair number of stand alone bits that remind you that Snoopy could also toss off some deadpan commentary on the state of society, and there are some reminders that there could be a bit of edge and vinegar in the Charlie Brown world and in Snoopy's observations.
So, bottom line, if you'd like a nice Snoopy summary, or an easily accessible Kindle edition, or a fun book to look at with your little reader, this generous collection might very well fit the bill.
( Please note that I received a free advance will-self-destruct-in-54-days Adobe ecopy of this book in exchange for a candid review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)
What can I say? If you love Peanuts, and love Snoopy,, especially chasing the Red Baron, you will love this book. The colors are vibrant and the storyline is as fresh today as it was years ago. It looked fresh on my Ipad. Highly recommend.
This book contains a selection of Peanuts comic strips suitable for young readers. There are a lot of comics that feature Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace but the collection does not concentrate just on that scenario. The edges of the page have designs that can be used for a flip book and there are instructions and diagrams for making paper airplanes included in the back of the book. A fun book for newly independent or reluctant readers.
A fun collection of Peanuts comic strips featuring Snoopy and his various antics, including fighting the Red Baron, interacting with the Peanuts gang, and thinking deep thoughts on top of his doghouse.
Snoopy rides again! Mainly stories connected to the Red Baron, this is a fantastic look at the work of Charles M. Schulz. And so many of the stories still work today. Simple, awesome. Definitely worth a read.
Arguably the greatest cartoonist of all time, Charles M. Schulz employed elements that guaranteed success-- simplicity, humor, honesty and truth. With his iconic character Snoopy, Schulz added a little fantasy into the mix. As the Flying Ace, Snoopy has entertained generations of readers in his search for the Red Baron.
Snoopy: Contact! is a new anthology of Snoopy's imaginative adventures. The whole PEANUTS gang is here as well, playing supporting roles to this collection's star attraction.
The perfect illustrations are supported with brilliant color reproductions in this new release. Reading, I found myself taken back to my childhood days of checking out the huge Schulz anthologies from the library and losing myself, for hours, in the PEANUTS Gang's adventures. Only now as an adult, the brilliance of the work has new meaning.
This one is an absolute must for any Snoopy fan! It is super cute and filled to the brim with Snoopy comics.
You will find a lot of Snoopy The Flying Ace vs The Red Baron in this one and more. I really enjoyed Snoopy acting like the Cheshire Cat myself. I thought it was hilarious.
I also thought all the extra goodies at the end of the book were fantastic. There were some directions on how to build paper airplanes, some fun facts, and more.
This one is a lot of fun. It is a good one to get readers of all skill levels. They are all sure to enjoy it.

This is a delightful collection drawing on some absolute classic snoopy and charlie moments. A worthy addition to the shelves of collectors and newbies alike.
I always loved watching Peanuts when I was younger, but this is my first time actually reading any comics about the characters. I love Snoopy, he is such a funny, cute and adorable dog. Reading this helped me re-live my childhood and was also just a thoroughly fun and entertaining read. You have the usual characters making appearances throughout, however most of the focus is on Snoopy. Snoopy the Vulture as a success and a failure was just so amusing and made me laugh out loud. Snoopy the cheshire Beagle was a real highlight for me. If you loved Peanuts as a child then you really need to pick this up. For a comic it took me a reasonable amount of time to read through which was a good thing. If you manage to finish this comic without having It’s a Long Way to Tipperary or Pack up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag stuck in your head, then there is something wrong. I can’t recommend this comic enough.
I love all things Snoopy. I even got a Beagle because of my love for Snoopy since childhood.
If you love Snoopy, you are going to love this collection. It features Snoopy in all his best scenes. Snoppy's imagination is simply amazing and his humor is timeless.
If you don't know too much about Snoopy you can get to know him in the pages of this book. Many of the other Peanuts gang make appearances too.
I know a few Snoopy fans that we be getting this for the holidays.
Delightfully selfish and insane as he is Snoopy is loveable as always. One to read and re-read and laugh every time. An ideal gift for a reluctant reader and for the gifted as you enjoy the layers of Snoopy!
"The World War I pilot on his Sopwith Camel....it's a long way to Tippperraaay!!!"
Basically i recommend this for anyone who wants a healthy dose of nostalgia. it's a quick read and i loved a lot of the stories.....Snoopy as a pilot, the birds stealing his Van Gogh, his love/hate relationship with Lucy, good 'ol Charlie Brown, the whole gang etc. The Cheshire Beagle was literally one of the funniest parts!!. In the end no matter what your age is you cant deny that Snoopy will be an all time favorite!!
You know that something is right in the world when you can still smile and laugh with Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and the rest of the Peanuts gang. This book is good for anyone new to Peanuts or re-visiting memories. Classic and delightful!
A fun collection of Peanuts comics - great for a long time fan or someone just getting into the magic of Peanuts!
I loved this book. I used to get so excited when I found a book like this in grade school. In fact, Peanuts were the only comic books we were allowed to read. The kids will love this book, and it's nice to see that Peanuts are still as funny as when I was little. I'm excited about being able to show what I loved to read to my kids.
Curse you Red Baron!
I love this book. If you've ever wondered what it's like for a World War 1 flying Ace/Beagle to face the dreaded Red Baron this is the book for you. And yes, if you defeat the Baron it's all you can drink Root Beer at the Officers Club. Though he does not defeat the Baron Snoopy does show us how the life of a Beagle can be very exciting but also drab. That's alright because there's not many things that a kiss on the nose can't fix. The sad part is the loss of so many Sopwith Camels. Beagle maybe brave but they aren't very good at not being shot down by the Red Baron or anyone else for that matter. Thats besides the point. The point is this book is fun. And if someone you know has a Beagle that wants to be a World War 1 fighter Ace well than you tell that person to let that Beagle fly. He won't fly far and he'll probably be shot down by the Red Baron but that will only bring them closer to their Beagle as they both shout. CURSE YOU RED BARON!
What a brilliant journey down memory lane for all Snoopy fans! There are lots of his adventures, dreams and antics in this fantastic collection of this classic cartoon character. This is a laugh out loud book with most of the infamous Peanuts characters, brilliant for dipping into whenever you feel like a laugh or need cheering up. For many adults, including me, this will be delightful journey down memory land and it is certainly something I’d love to share. It isn’t a quick read, there’s lots to it, and this is a great way for people who haven’t read these comics before to do so now. Very highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a laugh ☺
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too for provided an ARC for me to read in exchange for this, my honest review.
I grew up with Snoopy. We all grew up with Snoopy, didn’t we? I have fond memories of reading new Peanuts strip in the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times with my father. So, I was very excited when I received the opportunity to review Snoopy: Contact!, a collection of Snoopy-centric strips. I was especially excited to share the book with my eight-year-old daughter, who is a Peanuts fanatic.
Snoopy: Contact! contains over 150 pages of Peanuts strips featuring Charlie Brown’s beloved beagle, Snoopy. One of the most recurring themes in these strips is that of the “flying ace”. Snoopy pretends that his doghouse is a Sopwith Camel, and he engages in dogfights with his archnemesis, the Red Baron. When he is not taking to the skies in search of his foe, Snoopy can be found in tiny cafes where he partakes in root beer.
Snoopy can be seen showing off his skills as the Cheshire Beagle. Snoopy can make himself disappear, until all that remains is his wide grin. Snoopy also experiences tragedy when his doghouse burns down.
Many of these strips originally appeared in the 1960s, so unless you have a Peanuts fanatic in your house, this might be children’s first exposure to some of these Peanuts storylines. Even if you are a longtime fan of the strip, this might be your first exposure to the strips is full color.
I would definitely recommend Snoopy: Contact! Many of the Peanuts characters have predictable personalities: Charlie Brown tends to be hapless, Linus loves his blanket, and Lucy is gruff and bossy. But Snoopy is often unpredictable; his talents are endless and it’s impossible to tell what he’ll do next. My daughter says that she would recommend this book to other kids because Snoopy is cute and adorable. She says that the strips are also very funny, and will make children laugh. There might be a Peanuts movie coming out later this year, but Snoopy: Contact! is an excellent resource for some of the more classic Peanuts moments.
This is Snoopy, and the Peanuts gang. Unless you’ve living under a rock the past decades or have no knowledge of popular culture whatsoever, there’s not much to explain about the comic strips. Funny, witty, charming.
This collection in particular is heavily focused on the Red Baron stripes, which are not my favorites, but there are some other fantastic arcs: Charlie Brown trading Snoopy in the baseball team, Snoopy’s house burning down (even the Van Gogh!), Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin.
I mean, even if it’s not chock-full with my favorite Peanuts stripes, it’s still a wonderful collection. Hard to go wrong with Snoopy.
As one might expect, this is a collection of comic strips—all Sunday editions—featuring the dog who thinks he’s a WW1 pilot trying to shoot down the Red Baron.
I probably saw all these as a kid, but I still laughed again. More than that, I was intrigued by all the research put into the situations; there were mentions of cities, battles, even going on leave, from the time period that more often than not helped the jokes.
It’s hard to imagine there are many people who haven’t heard of this comic strip, even if it was just through the holiday specials. That makes it hard to say much about the characters, the artwork, and so on. Everything here is as it should be.
This is an amazing collection of the adventures of Snoopy, the cute little beagle with a huge imagination.
I really loved Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang when growing up, the TV show was amazing and it always made me laugh. Reading this, I felt like I was a child again, it brought back so many memories and made me feel so nostalgic.
It's great to see all these amazing characters he liked to play when being on his adventures, the best of all being The World War I Flying Ace with his Sopwith Camel, in his never-ending battle against The Red Baron. That's actually the one we see the most of in this collection.
And, even though Snoopy is the big star of this comic, Charlie Brown and his friends make it as memorable with their everyday struggles. I used to love Charlie Brown as much as I loved Snoopy, and it's funny that, now that I'm all grown up, I can relate more to his problems and identify with him. Little Chuck is a fighter.
We also get to see a lot of Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Linus, Schroeder and all the others, even little Woodstock, going on their own adventures like visiting a pumpkin patch and waiting for The Great Pumpkin, or even putting up a booth to provide psychiatric help for the other children.
This is a very entertaining read for people of any age, especially if you grew up watching the show or reading the comic strips.
I'd only read Woodstock: Master of Disguise before reading this Peanuts collection (my Netgalley copy of Snoopy: Master of Disguise was corrupted and couldn't be corrected unfortunately), but I really enjoyed reading this collection as well.
Mostly very short comics, but with some often reappearing themes it was a very nice read, even for people who might be less familiar with the Peanuts gang and Snoopy in particular. But as a fan of the series, this brought back all kinds of nostalgic feelings.
Would recommend.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
SNOOPY, SNOOPY, SNOOPY
Our favorite beagle is up for adventure! With the use of his imagination Snoopy goes on many adventures and gets himself into a whole lot of wackiness.
This book is perfect for children of all ages. Its full of whimsy that will have you laughing all day long.

This is a wonderful collection of comics from the Peanuts Gang, with all of them featuring Snoopy. This book brings back memories of the comics I have read in the paper for years as well as the television specials that were on over the years.
I love Snoopy! He has so many different personas and they are all showcased in this book. Snoopy and the Sopwith Camel are frequently featured in the book. Of course we also have him as the Vulture, the hungry dog dependent upon Charlie Brown, the antagonist with Lucy and Linus, his desire to go to school, his relationship with his bird friends and more.
This is not a quick read as it is a long "comic book" but every page is enjoyable and the illustrations are pure Charles Schultz.
Peanuts collections are always fun and Snoopy is a great source of storylines what with all of his imaginations and adventures. Solid.
It's a classic Peanuts comics collection, need I say more? I think most of us, no matter our age have grown up with the Peanuts, and they are as awesome now as they were then. A thank you to the publisher who put together this great collection.
SNOOPY: CONTACT!

I will warn you I am a big fan of Peanuts, especially Snoopy and Charlie Brown! I still remember my first watch - a blue Snoopy digital wristwatch. I enjoyed this collection of comic strips and it will be forever in my own collection.
k (My Novelesque Life)
'Snoopy: Contact!' is a collection of Peanuts reprints, featuring Snoopy. I loved this collection because many of the comics featured are from the late 1960s, which I think are the golden era of the strip.
The strips in this feature Snoopy as the great World War I Flying Ace, but we also see him as a vulture and a piranha. His Sopwith Camel is shot down by the Red Baron and he is stuck behind enemy lines. He is also snowed on, and his house gets burned down (including his Van Gogh!). He meets an unnamed bird that has problems flying and is confused about his direction. This bird wouldn't get a name until later in the strip, but we know him as Woodstock. Charlie Brown also makes Snoopy manager of his team, and even trades him off to Peppermint Patty for 5 players.
I love Peanuts and especially Snoopy. He's always been a favorite of mine. The strips in here are reprints and colorized, but done well. There is a flip book cartoon that runs along the pages, and a section in the back with maps and flying terms from World War I, which would have been handy when I first read these strips, but it made me seek out encyclopedias to find out where Tipperary was and why it was such a long way. I think this would be a fun collection for kids, and I certainly had a great time reading it.
i received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
There's nothing new one can say about Peanuts, just another day another great adventure. I loved this book. I read it because I can remember when I was a kid I would watch a Snoopy movie every Christmas and after the new The Peanuts Movie (which was great) I needed more. It was a treat :)
