This is a quick, easy read that can easily be finished in one sitting. I loved that Lindsay stood up for herself and initially refused Mikhail's advances. I appreciated that she didn't drop to his feet when he snapped in his fingers. All too often women are portrayed as weak when there is a strong alpha male in a story.
The connection between the two characters in this story is just off the charts. Mikhail is so sure of himself and knows exactly what to say to get what he wants.
The latest book in the International Bad Boys series, Pursued By The Devil is a sexy, sultry weekend read that should have you eagerly turning the pages from start to finish. If you're into strong, powerful men who know what they want and relentlessly set out to get it then you'll love Mikhail Lysenko. Lindsay Carlisle can't resist him, no matter that she knows he's dangerous.
Mikhail is a ruthless, powerful and successful businessman. He's also the grandson of Russian mafia boss Viktor Lysenko. But despite this, Mikhail is protective of those he cares about and loyal. He cares about Lindsay, though it takes him a little while to work out just how much, and when he finds out somebody is threatening her he sets out to deal with the problem and take her into his care.
Lindsay is a junior lawyer who met Mikhail during legal negotiations between him and her client. She's felt an undeniable attraction to him from the first, but after being betrayed by her former boyfriend she's not keen to get involved, and she doesn't do casual sex. When these two get together there's chemistry and then some. The sex is strong and hard and plentiful and at times pretty explicit. If that's not your cup of tea then this book is not for you but if you enjoyed the other books in the International Bad Boys series then you will love this book.
This sexy novella, part of the International Bad Boys series (linked by the story concepts but not by the characters) is the story of Mikhail, a ruthless business man and Lindsay, a strong and competent lawyer. Mikhail is looking into purchasing a business and Lindsay's legal firm is handling the case, with her being in charge of the deal. But Mikhail is far more interested in pursuing Lindsay, and makes a play for her, one that could cost her her job. But even more sinister are the black roses that start to show up on her doorstep. Will she pay the ultimate price if she accepts Mikhail's overtures?
Mikhail comes across as a very strong alpha male - confident and possessive and with the arrogance associated with a man used to getting what he wants. I liked that Lindsay didn't capitulate immediately to his demands, although ultimately he's too hard to resist. He does come on quite strong, and had it not been made clear that Lindsay secretly was enthralled with his attention to her (despite not understanding why he would choose her over the multitude of females he could have) it would have bordered on stalkerish (particularly when he shows up at her house despite her initial rejection). But the truth of the matter is that Lindsay is equally attracted to him and they share some passionate love scenes. Mikhail doesn't really soften up in character until the end of the story ( he seems to get angry a lot at a variety of circumstances, most notably when anything is beyond his control). Things change for him though with Lindsay in the picture, and when she is threatened he finds that he cares very deeply about what is happening to her and finding out the culprit. The suspense plot doesn't overwhelm the story, just adds a bit of an edge. Lindsay worries that her involvement with Mikhail could cause her problems in her job, but that doesn''t stop her from taking a chance on him, one that turns out to be a good choice. The story is told from both point's of view which I liked as I always enjoy seeing the thoughts and feelings of both characters in a romance. Part of Mikhail's harsh exterior comes from his background and his Russian Mafia family connections, ones that he has steered clear of in building up his business. Still they've left an emotional impact on him, making it hard to commit to a relationship - until Lindsay, who drives him crazy and soothes him at the same time. As an aside, I noticed a lot of exclamation marks in both Mikhail and Lindsay's thought patterns - enough that I started to pay attention to when they showed up. I thought they could have been toned down a bit, but that's my personal preference.
Overall, a good story with interesting characters, not too long, and with some sexy and emotional scenes. 3.5 stars.
It was a good read, but I wish we had more of their happily ever after.
haven't read this author is years.. good to see something good out by her
3.5 STARS
Mikhail is a ruthless, powerful and successful businessman. He's also the grandson of Russian mafia boss Viktor Lysenko. Mikhail is protective of those he cares about and loyal. However, he’s also arrogant and always gets what he wants, and what he wants now is Lindsay.
Lindsay is a junior lawyer who met Mikhail during legal negotiations between him and her client.
The speed of the relationship between Mikhail and Lindsay is a bit surreal and hard to believe. The sex is strong, hard and very explicit. The character are very appealing, which makes the story more likable!
Pursued by the Devil by Carole Mortimer, is good story with interesting characters, but very short for my taste!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher thru NetGalley for an honest review.
This was a good book. Steamy sex scenes with a quick romance. They meet on opposite sides, but attraction causes them to meet in the middle. Sex grows into a bond and they fall in love. They get their HEA. Both characters are strong and interesting, which kept the story interesting.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
Ok let me start by saying if this was real life I would personally get a restraining order, but it not, and I did like this book. He is arrogant, pushy and very very hot. The single minded pursuit because of mikhails belief that Lindsey is the one for him is nice to read. She has doubts, but as they learn about each other, yes it's not just sex, she begins to see him as a real man. Would definitely recommend.
I loved this! I want more! More of Lindsay & Mikhail/Misha! I was not expecting her creepy client to be her secret admire nor did I think he would have attacked her. It was a great surprise!
Steamy hot, fun read. Lindsay Carlisle is a lawyer who is representing the other side of a business deal by this doesn't stop Mikhail Lysenko's unrelenting pursuit. She's been keeping him at arms length even though he shows up uninvited all the time. When black roses start showing up on her doorstep, she can't hide her fear and Mikhail can't keep his protective instincts in check. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe!
A little bit of drama, a little suspense, and a whole lot of steam make this a good read. I would recommend it.
Short, Sexy Novella About Alpha Male and The Woman Who Can't Resist Him
FINAL DECISION: This novella is short and sexy with a protective alpha male and the woman who is being stalked. The length of the story doesn't allow for much character development, but the chemistry between the hero and heroine makes this story a good read.
THE STORY: Lindsey Carlisle is a career woman. A lawyer, she is representing a company opposing a corporate takeover by Mikhail Lysenko. Mikhail is a Russian billionaire, alpha male and intensely attracted to Lindsey. Lindsey is attracted to Mikhail as well but knows that professional responsibilities mean that she cannot become involved in Mikhail. When Lindsey begins receiving mysterious black roses, Mikhail insists on protecting her from her stalker. The mystery of who is threatening Lindsey and the sexy romance between Mikhail and Lindsey are the focus of the story.
OPINION: This novella is short and as a result, there is not as much character development and I would like. The attraction between Lindsey and Mikhail is immediate and it would have been nice to understand more what Mikhail sees in Lindsey that makes him want to immediately toss aside everything that is important to him in order to pursue her.
I did very much enjoy the chemistry between Lindsey and Mikhail and he is so completely devoted to her that it was impossible for me not to like him. The story is simple, but effective.
I thought that Mikhail especially was a very interested character and I would have liked to get to know him better as a character. He does have very good qualities, however. His determination, protectiveness and single minded pursuit of Lindsey are attractive. He is a definite alpha male but Lindsey can handle him.
WORTH MENTIONING: Mikhail identifies strongly with the bear. I wish the title would have reflected that rather than using "devil" which doesn't really have any connection with the story.
CONNECTED BOOKS: PURSUED BY THE DEVIL is part of the International Bad Boys series. These books are loosely connected only by theme and concept without overlapping characters. Therefore, this book can be read as a standalone.
STAR RATING: I give this book 3.5 stars.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in order to provide a review. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions herein are my own.
OK, so this is a short story packed with a lot of sexy sexy. And it's hot!! Mikhail Lysenko is very intense and he doesn't do anything half measure, including pursuing Lindsay Carlisle. I gotta say, for such a short amount of pages, Carole Mortimer managed to pull off a well developed story that was intriguing and engaging. I'm a little impressed LOL

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Tule Publishing for an honest review. This was a fairly quick read (around 1.5 hours) and a lot more than I expected. For a book full of sexual tension, I was surprised nothing was acted upon until about the 60% mark of the book. had in my mind it would be heavy on the eroticism and less on the suspense. The character's chemistry is a dominant element of the story, but it's a lot more. In addition to their tension, the overall plot equally builds throughout the story. Yes, it's not too hard to figure out the who, but it's the how the author gets you there is the entertainment.
I will say I read another reviewer's comments about "Mischa." If I had not been aware of that going in, I may not have found it as funny. Good grief, that escalated! I kept trying to picture my husband insisting or believing that and... never mind! Unintentionally funny, but I really enjoyed the quick story overall.
Rating: 3.5/5
Take one wealthy international corporate shark intent on buying up companies during the recession, add in a feisty ruthless lawyer working on behalf of a company he has targeted then mix in some serious attraction between the two and you’re in for a volatile reaction! This is one short but sexy romance with a mysterious black rose leaving stalker to add extra drama to the story.
I’m not sure they got the title for this book right - as the hero, Mikhail Lysenko, likes to be called Mischa which is Russian for bear so 'Pursued by the Bear' might have been more appropriate! At times I thought this was going to be a bear shifter romance! With instant attraction and abundant hot sexual action against her core life tenets I wanted to read more about the characters, especially Lindsay, outside of their working relationship. I think this would make a brilliant longer story! Considering how short the story is, the author has skilfully managed to keep the story full of action and intrigue making this a quick but very entertaining read - just right for when you’re short on time but need a jam packed page turner to read!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

this is a short and sexy read. typical of this series. Mikhail and Lindsay have a lot of chemistry between them. Lindsay tries to stay away but Mikhail is relentless. there is a little bit of a mystery but it is easy to see through. Mikhail is hiding something but it is a non-factor. Although the story was predictable, I enjoyed the read.
Sensual, brooding and commanding are perfect descriptions of Mikhail. Lindsay is his total opposite but falls under his spell. Lindsay and Mikhail were a total mismatch as a couple for me. He was mysterious, she was way too trusting. He was a borderline stalker and she had a curious nature. Drawn to one another despite all the red flags cautioning against it, nothing will stand in their way. Pursued by the Devil is full of action, intrigue and fireworks. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Mikhail and Lindsay are on opposite ends of a business deal but that doesn't stop the attraction between the two from scorching up the pages for us. I enjoyed their little byplay. The plot got a few more twists to keep us on the hook. Good story :)
Whew, this is one hot bad boy story from Mortimer. Great plot twists in this one.
I love the International Bad Boys series from this collection of authors.
This was a sizzling , don't put down book. The characters Mikhail and Lindsay... Wow.. Their chemistry , and his power and confidence , with a softness and vulnerability inside , and Lindsay , her drive to succeed on her own in her career , and her recent breakup finding her boyfriend with his secretary in a compromising position in his office would be enough to hate men for a long time .. I enjoyed how there was the mystery of the black roses and the surprise of who was behind it.
For this novel, everything you really need to know to decide about Pursued By The Devil is in the book/cover description. But hey, who wouldn’t want to be pursued by this hot millionaire?
Mikhail is attracted… no, that’s too soft of a word… he’s captivated by Lindsay. Where he could easily have any woman in the world by simply lifting a pinky finger – he wants Lindsay with a passion that to some might seem unreasonable. He will do anything to have this intelligent, beautiful, driven woman in his life and his bed. He doesn’t alway play fair. But then he’s a millionaire, go figure.
Lindsay is attracted but sees a huge conflict of interest. And when someone begins to send her love tokens that reek of a stalker, Mickhail is right there protecting his woman. Their love story is full of sexy passion, deep emotions, suspense and a strong love to last a lifetime. Honestly, there really is little more to say that you couldn’t read from the description.
Pursued By The Devil is a sexy story with strong characters. I would recommend this novel for anyone who loves their heroes on the alpha side and their heroines feisty and strong. It is a delightful, enjoyable story – but I expect no less from Ms Mortimer, who has given me years of lovely stories to lose myself within.
*I received an e-ARC of Pursued By The Devil from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
I really enjoyed this story by Carole Mortimer. The main characters were well rounded and interesting with good back stories. I liked the female character Lindsey, a career driven female lawyer, whose career is dramatically threatened when she crosses swords with Mikhail, a hot Russian businessman who is determined to take over a company connected to Lindsey's firm. Added to this is a little mystery, as Lindsey is sent black roses and Mikhail tries to protect Lindsey and find out the senders identity.
The romance and sex happens very quickly between the two, but as this is a novella, quite expected. The skill shown by the author comes during the quieter romantic and personal moments when the two characters let their guards down and reveal their secrets and fears, and so what could of been a quick light story became more engaging.
Mikhail Lysenko is a shrewd businessman; when he know what he wants he goes after it with laser focus.
Lindsay Carlisle is lawyer on the wrong end of Mikhail's crosshairs, but she thinks he's pursuing her to gain an advantage on his business deal. And she definitely does not want to be another notch on his bedpost.
He just wants her, any way he can get her. But when her life is threatened everything changes and Lindsay is forced into close proximity with Mikhail. Only he can't hide his true self or his intentions from her anymore and he's not afraid to reveal his darkest secrets.
Short and passionate story, with lots of emotions, and insta-lust.
The desire Mikhail and Lindsay have for each other is tangible in the air, from the first moment they are in the same scene. The graphic thoughts, and conversations, they have, building up for their fulfillment of their fantasies, goes into the details, as well as the sex-a-thon they have afterwards.
Yes, Lindsay says 'no' to him, but that just seems to raise the heat between them.
Mikhail, or Mischa (bear in Russian) as he likes her to call him in bed, is arrogant, forceful, even rude at times, commanding, overpowering, who has never heard the word no before... But he is also caring, thoughtful, protective, and affectionate, when Lindsay needs it. His Mikhail/Mischa changing trait is a bit odd, like a split personality, that I don't think was meant to be amusing, even though I did find humor in it.
Lindsay is a junior status lawyer, she is goal oriented, focusing on her career, and reeling from her former boyfriends cheating ways. Her instant lust and desire towards Mikhail has woken up her fantasies and desires like never before, leaving her hazy with longing. When danger and menace comes to her door, Mikhail is there to protect her, to take care of her, and ultimately, step in front of the danger to save her. The ending took me completely by surprise, I wasn't quite ready for that bombshell. But overall, it is a steaming hot, graphic story, filled with sensual thoughts and actions, mixed with a bit of danger, and few surprises

I love picking up a Carole Mortimer romance. I know that I'll get to escape for a bit with an alpha hero in a page turning romance.
I loved the chemistry between Mikhail and Lindsay. With a couple of unexpected twists, I couldn't put down Pursued by the Devil until I reached the very last word.
Wonderful short story . Mickhail Lysencko, a wealthy corporate shark , takes interest in the beautiful young lawyer employed by the company he is trying to buy out, but Lindsay Carlisle is not like most of the women , she is actually forcing him to chase her, he is used to having women fall at his feet, super attractive, confident and wealthy he never has to chase , but he can not seem to forget about Lindsay.
Mickhail approaches Lindsay the way he approaches taking over a business ; full on and demanding, but Lindsay is having non of that; men are not high on her list after finding her last boyfriend in a very compromising position with his secretary.mickhail is not one to take no for an answer he keeps turning up and invading her personal space. Setting Lindsay's body to a thrum, she can not deny she is attracted but getting involved with a man who has a history of changing women daily and is actually trying to take over her clients company not a good idea, but when Lindsay is subtly threatened having this demanding , controlling alpha at hand is just what she needs! So strap in for a quick read with a little mystery, domes teams sexy scences and an overall happy ending!

A novella, this was a quick read. Mikhail and Lindsey were an interesting couple, but, to me, the relationship moved too quickly and didn't have time to really develop in a way that really connected with me.
The story was well-written and the story-line was interesting, but Mikhail was more Alpha than I, personally, like. So, while I liked the story, I am sure others will love it more than I.
I Love how Carole brings us this amazing stories and her characters omg they are on point and then some, the story line is second to none and the romance wow wow, and the sexual tension omg i was melting
look no further than this book its everything you want and need Carole mortimer is an amazing author i love her.
