The reason I gave this book 4 stars was because I was disappointed that it wasn't longer - I wanted more images!
What Mickey Z has presented here is a historical reference of our time. As a follower of the Occupy Movement since its beginning, I found the photographs captured the raw energy of the streets and our people and the commentary profound.
I imagined myself as someone reading the book 20 years from now, perhaps as someone not familiar with the movement and the protests and thought "We need this book and more from Mickey Z."
Mickey - please keep going forward with this. Your voice and your keen eye are the recordkeepers of the change needed in the world.
Review will be posted September 25 Occupy These Photos is a book containing 30 photos taken by Mickey Z at various Occupy & Black Lives Matter and other protests. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think these photos beautifully depict what has been going on in New York City as well as other locations in protest. It's hard to put into words what these pictures say with very few words. If you're interested in the protests and want to learn more I definitely recommend you check out this book.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.
About the Book
Mickey Z. continues his advocacy work by taking his camera to the streets and showing a number of major demonstrations and protests that occurred in NYC between #OWS and #BlackLivesMatter as he saw them. Not a professional photographer but a street photographer capturing those who, like him, turn out daily to protest and demand changes to an unfair and unequal system as it affects all life in NYC, human and non-human.
