Description

Bad boy Jed Hamilton is ex-special Forces and a current undercover recovery agent who's mentally and physically tough, a lone wolf and, above all, violently allergic to commitment, permanence, and anything wedding related.

So when he learns, in the very sexy McKenna Dixon’s bridal salon, that his younger sister is getting married and wants him to be her “man of honor”, Jed wishes he was anywhere but in Cape Town. Especially now that he'll be spending more time around the one woman who makes him consider perilous phrases like “what if” and “maybe”…

McKenna Dixon loves bad boys, but her past experience with the species has led to nothing but pain and heartbreak. Jed Hamilton is exactly the type of man she should avoid, but when a nasty incident threatens her and her daughter, Jed immediately appoints himself as their protector, even though it’s not a part of his job description.

McKenna is determined not to allow another bad boy to flip her life inside out, and Jed is determined to retain his bachelor status and to keep travelling and working. But, as they both discover, love does its best work when they are busy making other plans…

Bad boy Jed Hamilton is ex-special Forces and a current undercover recovery agent who's mentally and physically tough, a lone wolf and, above all, violently allergic to commitment, permanence, and...

A Note From the Publisher

Joss Wood’s passion for putting black letters on a white screen is only matched by her love of books and travelling (especially to the wild places of Southern Africa) and, possibly, by her hatred of ironing and making school lunches.

After juggling a career in business lobbying and economic development with writing, and somehow managing to produce sixteen books, Joss now spends her days creating contemporary fairy tales. She lives in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa with her husband and two children surrounded by family, friends, animals and a ridiculous amount of reading material.

I've enjoyed reading Claimed By The Warrior. Joss Woods is a new to me author with an easy to read style that flows well. I did have a bit of a problem with her sentence structures, however. They tend, at times to be a bit too complex, meaning I'd have to read a sentence through a couple of times to work out the intended meaning. I'd have preferred shorter sentences conveying just one idea in each. That aside, I did like this book for a number of reasons. Firstly on a purely personal note, the fact that it is set in Cape Town appealed to me because I lived there in my late teens. Mind you the setting really didn't play a huge role in the story.
Secondly, I liked both McKenna and Jed. Both are believable characters with the right balance of sexy and sensible. I liked that even though his job had Jed living very much on the edge, he still had a deep seated sense of duty and concern for those he loved.
Thirdly I really liked the way Joss Woods handled the sex scenes. me by "He made her scream. More than once." Nice! All encompassing, conveys the message neatly without all the often boring clinical details and frankly I think a lot of authors could learn from Joss Woods in that respect.
This book is part of Tule Publishing's International Bad Boys series, and if you enjoyed other books in the series I think you'll enjoy this one too. The books are not interconnected so don't worry if you haven't read any of the others as Claimed By The Warrior stands up just fine by itself.

The story of Jed, the protective, caring, blunt, what he wants he gets man and McKenna, the single mother trying to live life moving away from the bad boys for the sake of her kid is a very good read. They story is successful in keeping the reader guessing on who could be the one trying to target McKenna's life. A short quick read, interesting and light.

Jed Hamilton is not pleased when his sister asks him to meet up with her in what turns out to be a bridal salon in order to reveal that she wants him to be her "Man of Honor." However, he is very attracted to the owner of the salon, McKenna Dixon. When he finds out that McKenna has a stalker, he insists on staying with she and her small daughter in order to provide protection. The two are unable to resist the pull between them and they embark on an evening of passion that they don't intend to repeat. As Jed and McKenna get to know one another better, they develop feelings for each other. They have to decide if they can move on from the past while McKenna is being targeted by someone who has it in for her.

I thoroughly enjoyed Claimed by the Warrior. I thought that the main characters, Jed Hamilton and McKenna Dixon, were both great. They each had some things to overcome from their pasts, but were very likable. I enjoyed the chemistry between them and seeing their relationship develop. McKenna's daughter, Daisy, was adorable, and I loved seeing her get to know Jed. I liked how protective Jed was toward both McKenna and Daisy. The storyline was interesting and had a good balance of suspense and romance. I enjoyed the South African setting, which was a departure from the locations the books I read normally take place. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

When Jed is summoned back home by his little sister, Leah, he has no clue that his life is about to change dramatically whether he wants it to or not. As he finds himself standing in bridal salon he realizes all the horrors that he is trying to avoid. However, when he meets the owner, a new set of emotions start distracting him. McKenna Dixon is the perfect woman, and he is determined to have her.

When McKenna notices the handsome stranger standing in her hallway she can't help the attraction that immediately inflames her. But after a life time of hurt at the hands of "bad boys" she is smarter than to get involved with another one, right?

When danger strikes Jed immediately steps in to protect her and her daughter. And as the hours spent together start piling up, the attraction keeps building. As he wins over not only McKenna's heart, but that of her daughter, Daisy, she finds herself doing the one thing she told herself she shouldn't do...she falls in love with the bad boy.

As Jed helps bring the danger to an end he finds that he cannot give McKenna all she and Daisy need and takes off on a new assignment. After he has left, he realizes the only place he wants to be is back with his girls. He just hopes it is not too late.

Great read. This is the first novel I have read by Joss Wood, but will definitely not be my last.

I loved this! Jed & McKenna are great together. I loved the suspense of the stalked & I didn't really think it was Craig but I defiantly didn't think it was Mattie! I wish it was longer & it ended kind of with a cliffhanger, even though I don't think there is a sequel. Overall I really enjoyed it.

It was good! Maybe more of a beach read than anything heavy, but a good solid plot and real connections between the characters. I liked the twists and turns with the spots of humour and warmth. Would read more by this author!

I really enjoyed this book, Jed and McKenna's story! It had intrigue and love and a man who really wanted to fall in love but was just afraid. Thank goodness Jed realized what was important before it was too late. If you are looking for a great, quick read, you must add this to your TBR pile.

Claimed by the Warrior by Joss Wood is scrumptious, fun, sexy as can be, and just a real good read. I found myself giggling in some places and sighing with pleasure in other. The characters are so dang interesting and the storyline is written to perfection. The cover alone draws the eye of the reader, especially when its a female reader.

The moment Dixon meets sexy bad boy, Jed, her girlie bits wake up and take notice, and as she tries to control herself, the sparks fly even more and soon the passion is too much for these two to fight. The fact that author Wood puts a bit of humor in the story just makes it that much more enjoyable to me. When I can find myself laughing throughout the story, it definitely makes my day.

Claimed by the Warrior gets a SOLID FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its a good time filled with steamy sex, witty comebacks, and sassy and loving characters. You definitely want to check this book out!

Jed is technically a photographer. He is very good at it, loves it and is gaining recognition for his photos. The not technically job? He does "recovery" missions for an organization all over the world and the photography is a great cover.

He doesn't do relationships or family hardly. He and his father can barely stand the sight of one another, his mom deceased. The only family he really cares about is his younger sister Leah. Leah has demanded he meet her and as usual she is late. So here he sits....at a bridal salon of all places and he isn't very happy about it.

McKenna owns the salon, She creates the design and her cousin Mattie sews the dresses. She is a single mom to Daisy, a 3 year old. She has terrible luck with relationships so has decided to dedicate her life to raising her daughter. It isn't what she really wants though. She has dated a bit but hasn't found anyone.

When Jed shows up at her Salon the sparks are flying between them. Both are very attracted to one another. Then Jed opens his mouth and she realizes he is just another bad boy, like the other ones in her life.

Leah finally arrives and he is thoroughly annoyed when he finds out she is getting married. He is very protective of her so he thinks she is too young and the guy isn't good enough for her. She even wants him to help her pick out a wedding dress and be her Man of Honor! He is having a very hard time with this!

NcKenna has a stalker. She has been getting texts and phone calls for months. She thinks it may be a guy she dated briefly but the police say they can't do anything without proof so she saves the answering machine tapes and texts and puts them in a file.

Jed is there a couple of times when the phone has rang or she has gotten messages and they talk about it some. He has decided to protect her and Daisy and of course he needs to stay there with them. They agree to sex-only but that sex only changes both of their lives as does the stalker.

What will happen to sex-only and the no relationship rule? Who is the stalker?

Jed of course is a hottie, with plenty of attitude. McKenna gives it right back to him though without the arrogance he has. Little Daisy is just adorable, who doesn't love a 3 year old!

Daisy's real father died in an accident and I loved that Daisy had a relationship with her dad's parents. They loved her like there is no tomorrow. McKenna's parents were deceased. I had a laugh out loud moment when Jed cursed and she repeated it! That has happened to all parents, you have to hold in the giggle while you remind them that they weren't nice words.

I also loved the relationship Jed had with Daisy. He slipped right into Daddy mode, like automatically wiping her hands and face after she ate, all while denying any feelings for McKenna.

This really was a good book and I think most would really enjoy it!

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

I received a copy of this book through Tule Publishing for an honest review. This book was soooo good and entertaining! Told from dual points of view, it was fast-paced, the characters were well-developed, great tension (the plot as well as between the characters), and just a touch of humor to round it out. There's a HEA, but a tiny cliffhanger or what in the world?? about another character to set up for another book.

Loved this one! Jed and McKenna were awesome and their story definitely left me smiling!!

You'd think she'd learn her lesson! McKenna has always been drawn to bad boys but they only meant one thing. Heartache. So why oh why is she so attracted to her clients brother. Just looking at him let's you know he's the baddest bad boy of all.

Jeb doesn't do relationships. So staying away from McKenna should be on the top of his priority list. She has relationship type written all over her. But when McKenna and her young daughter are in danger, he's determined to protect her, no matter the cost. He doesn't plan on it costing him his heart though....

Great read that I highly recommend to everyone.

A great bad boy book from Wood. It was really fun to read a romance set in South Africa. I love a hero who is opposed to falling in love, then does, and then has to fix the mess he made. Jed apprehension for love makes perfect sense, with his childhood and relationship history. McKenna wants to avoid love with a "bad boy," so she does not get hurt again. I loved her daughter, some great three year old related details.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the novels in the International Bad Boys series and this is no exception! The novels are written by a variety of authors, tend to have totally different characters, settings and events and are each standalone stories in their own right. I hadn’t read anything by this author before but I will certainly look out for more by her in future!

The bad boy in this instance is Jed Hamilton, ex-SAS and now a photographer of growing renown who also uses this to cover his secret role as an undercover recovery agent. He turns up at the Bridal salon of McKenna Dixon to meet his sister for the first time in more than a year and can’t think of a worse meeting point as he abhors anything wedding related! Mind you that’s about to change as he is instantly attracted to single Mom and shop owner, McKenna - and she feels the same though is extremely wary of any possible relationship between the two of them. Her daughter, Daisy May, is a poppet and heart stealer. Add in a mysterious stalker who is threatening McKenna and his protective instincts kicking in - you’re in for a mystery, suspense and thriller along with some hot romance!

This is a great story with lead characters having to overcome their past to start looking forward. They were very likeable and easy to relate to - and the chemistry between them was explosive, Having said that, I really appreciated the author’s technique in describing the sex scenes - with plenty of implications but little unwarranted and unappreciated detail (I wish more authors would use this technique and leave the details to the reader’s imagination!). The stalker and threats are handled brilliantly, adding suspense and drama to the story. Exploring Jed’s relationship with members of his family and its impact on how he relates to others now is empathetically described, explaining so many of his actions and reactions. A great story highly recommended to anyone who enjoys their romance to be well written and have a military/spy hero helping overcome threats to the heroine’s safety - he's a bad boy but a good man!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

Loved Jed and McKenna. Always love finding the soft heart in the bad boy. McKenna has always been attracted to bad boys, but she knows it will just leave her heart broken again. Jed, undercover recovery agent, has returned home to be man of honor for his sister's upcoming wedding. He meets owner of Bridal salon, McKenna when she needs protection from an unknown assailant. He moves in with McKenna and her young daughter, but the one thing Jed does not do is relationships. When McKenna is safe from harms way, can Jed just leave or will his heart win him over.

This is a page turner of plenty of romance and the element of suspense that will keep the reader going until the end. Loving the Bad Boys! I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.

When a stalker is driving McKenna crazy with worry and annoyance, she doesn’t see any good solution except perhaps to ignore it and hope it goes away. Oh, she’s pretty sure she knows who the jerk is – but proving it is a far different story. What she doesn’t need right now is a hot, sexy, pure alpha male making himself her bodyguard and maybe more. Sure, she’s the first to admit that Jed is steamy hot and she’s been in a drought lately – but that doesn’t mean anything beyond sex. Her track record cries nothing more, and Jed is sending off no commitment vibes that can be heard a continent away. So if…when they get together it will be sexy, hot and explosive and not permanent.

Claimed By The Warrior was such an intense and fun read. Jed is so Alpha. McKenna is so not going there again. But we know they will and they do. And their relationship is as hot and steamy as Mac thought it’d be, and just as entangling as Jed feared it would be. This isn’t an intensely mysterious story – a basic suspense bad guy and a reveal, plus Jed’s sister, Leah who is getting married unexpectedly and that is giving Jed bad feelings but she’s happy so, good for her. The story was fun, engaging and McKenna’s daughter, Daisy, was totally adorable. It took her less than 5 seconds flat to have Jed wrapped around her dainty little pinky finger.

It’s a story of two people who have trouble trusting and picking the right partner for the long term. And a story of second chances at finding a love worth fighting for, worth taking a risk. Yes, there is an absolute end of the book cliffhanger… but… this story is complete, we have Jed and McKenna’s story completed with the happy ending. Look on it as a tease for another story that is sure to be coming along soon.

If you love a bad boy Alpla styled romance then Claimed by the Warrior is perfect for you. T would recommend this one for readers who enjoy their romance hot and heavy, their males strong and stubborn and their ladies independent with a need for love – add in an adorable little one and you have a great love story. indulge and enjoy.

A nicely plotted romantic mystery. I especially liked the hero. I was given an advance copy by Netgalley, the book still needs quite a bit of editing throughout. Ends with a bit of a cliffhanger but doesn't really affect this book's storyline.

Very enjoyable story, a great mix of fun banter, danger, and intense attraction and sensual heat. I swear I was either smiling, or towards the end, had tears in my eyes, while reading this story. It touches emotionally, and is great entertainment at the same time.
McKenna, single mom, with adorable daughter Daisy, who so often steals the whole show. But there's more to McKenna, she is talented, tough, independent, and tuned in to the people around her. Mostly. But there's a stalker after her, and Jed offers to be her bodyguard, to keep her and Daisy safe.
Jed is a complex character, with an interesting profession of being a photographer and an undercover agent. He is very secluded, self sufficient, and not used to share his thoughts or plans with anyone. The more time he spends with McKenna, the more she sees through all the walls his build, and slowly takes them down. A lively story, filled with passion, threat, peril, and enthrallment - until it ends in a cliffhanger, not really about Jed and McKenna, but still, it was just as annoying as cliffhangers usually are...

Jed Hamilton is ex-special Forces and a current undercover recovery agent. Returning home after almost a year, he realizes that he has missed too much; his sister's pending marriage for instance. A strong disbeliever in marriage, his distaste is evident to his sister as well as McKenna Dixon, the second as he walks into her bridal salon. The attraction between them though, is instant and sparks fly right away.

But McKenna has a history of choosing the wrong guy and living with those mistakes has made her cautious. Even worse is that the one guy she thought was decent enough to go on a couple of dates with is now threatening her through emails and phone calls. And when he attacks her home and destroys her bridal salon, Jed moves in to provide her and her toddler daughter with protection.

But in spite of the imminent danger to their lives, love creeps up on them and stirs up feelings within Jed that he never thought would be a possibility for him.

Joss Wood's Claimed by the Warrior is a great addition to the International Bad Boys series. I loved that we get to visit South Africa with McKenna and Jed's story. I really enjoyed Daisy. Wood gives us a fun and fast romance that has a touch of mystery. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

Claimed by the Warrior was an OK read.

It had the perfect amount of romance and action for a short story.

Thank you to Tule Publishing via Netgalley for the advance copy.

This was a good read. I didn't want to put this one down, it had me so engrossed into the story. I could feel the chemistry between the main characters. This was a cute and funny read and I enjoyed it.

I first discovered Joss Wood with the launch of Modern Tempted (or KISS, as it was called in the US), back in August 2013. My review of that novel, If You Can’t Stand the Heat, was accompanied by a Mills & Boon boy (one of my male friends caroused into posing with the book) and so a love affair began.

I love Joss’ writing, which is one of the reasons why she’s an autobuy author for me. Her characters have heart and sass and there are plot twists which I love.

Claimed by the Warrior is no exception.

It’s got a typically Wood-ian hero in Jed Hamilton (yes, I`m making that a thing): a man who is strong and fiercely independent, who doesn’t usually rely on anybody else. I’m a sucker for these heroes, partly because my own fiance’s incredibly similar. There’s something swoonworthy about someone who won’t open up to anyone but the heroine; it helps create a special bond between the characters that is impossible for either of them to deny forever, however much they may want to.

And to go along with this (rather delicious) hero is McKenna Dixon. I love the way that she interacts with Jed, calling him out when he unintentionally upsets his little sister`s wedding dress shopping and standing up to him when she doesn’t think he’s being upfront with her.

The chemistry between the two of them is sizzling from the outset, with a particularly steamy scene at a restaurant standing out, but the thing that’s most apparent to both the reader and the characters, is that there’s genuine tenderness and affection amidst the heat.

In addition to all this, there’s a thriller-esque element to the story, with Jed stepping up when he realises that McKenna has a stalker, and the eventual revelation at the end came as a bit of a surprise (in a good way – I like that writers can still surprise me sometimes). Romantic suspense is a sub-genre of romance that I’m beginning to enjoy more and more, so I was delighted t see this kind of writing from Joss.

All in all, a delightful read, with Wood’s strong characterisation once more at the forefront of a darn good read.

Jed is home for his sister’s wedding and if there is anything Jed hates worse it’s the idea of marriage and commitment. That is until he sees the owner of the bridal salon and decides that he wants to spend time with her but with no attachments. McKenna takes one look at Jed and knows he is just another bad boy that she needs to avoid. This was a great cat and mouse story with both of them denying their true feelings and finally giving into their feelings. This was a fun story with two genuine characters that I enjoyed reading.

I liked the book and the storyline. I figured out the bad guy way too quickly and fell in love with Jed about as fast as she did. That being said, what happens next? I don't see another book by Joss in the works for this one and the series is by multiple authors so it isn't my thing, well it is my thing the ex-military alpha male who finds his woman and not only falls in love with her but her daughter and action in one story. I just felt that it needed some work. Would I read another book the had Jed in it? Heck yeah in about 2 seconds. What a cliff hanger. There has got to be a continuation to this story!!!
