Somebody Like You

Billy the baseball star and Brooke the wine maker were once frenemies in high school. Though they never had much of a chance back then there is potential for a happily ever after when they come together ten years later. Billy is trying to figure out what to do with his future after blowing out his shoulder then returning to his hometown. Brooke burned her bridges at the last winery she worked at and is looking for a way to make a living in the future. There is a happily ever after for the two of them if Brooke can deal with her long held misbeliefs and fears and if Billy can find a way to get through the protective fences she has built around herself.

This book has some of the usual characters: an old high school girlfriend, an ex-lover, a publicity agent only trying to help but usually causing trouble, family members to add comic relief and more trouble, a few friends and townspeople…and more. I really liked Billy but sure why he was so enamored with Brooke. Brooke seemed a bit wishy-washy and childish with unreal beliefs and expectations although she evidently was a great wine maker. Billy was sweet and generous and perhaps a bit too much of a pleaser. Then again, who can say what one person who falls in love with another actually is attracted to?

This was an enjoyable read and a book I would recommend to someone looking for a day of easy reading and a romance with a HEA ending.
