Description
This is happens every time I’m with him...eyes wandering, mouths craving, fingers stealing touches. Heartbeats tripping.
I want one woman: my best friend, Tess Harlow, the stone cold fox that spins my universe. Instead I’m dating a pop rock icon that checks her reflection in the back of her spoon.
I want one man: my best friend, Scout Steele, the number one country music crossover artist of our generation. He put the words hell-raiser-hot on the map. Instead I’m marrying his nemesis.
I crossed the line…she short-circuits my heart.
He crossed the line; I’m on the same page…sadly, in a different book.
Fifteen years is a long time to keep the secret she’s held from me. The gloves are coming off now.
It’s a dicey proposition he’s offering, but I can’t do it. I’m living a double standard. I’ve got a roadblock.
I want her. I’m taking her! I’m calling it ‘damage control’.
My compass points only to him. Too bad I’m traveling in the other direction.
I’m about to give her that knock-you-flat feeling.
Then he gives me that go-for-broke feeling.
Maybe she doesn’t love me. And maybe I don’t believe her.
"Witty", "romantic", "sexy" and "soul-swelling". An addictive heartfelt novel with a bold voice that will have you laughing out loud one minute then grabbing for tissue the next. An unforgettable romance with twists so emotionally wrought and endearing that they’ll make you weep. Get ready to carve out a chunk of your heart for Scout and Tess’s genuinely moving best-friend-turned-lover romance. This is an “I love you” like you’ve never read before. It’s not a story, it’s a sexy romance novel game changer.

This was a warm and poignant story of what true love looks like. That what is outside doesn't matter because what is inside matters more. And especially learning to reveal your true self and learning about trust. Plenty of steamy scenes as well. A wonderful read!
Scout and Tess. Not your average couple. their friendship is as different as can be. Which made this a fun read!
Evan is a sexy country music star.he has always been friends with Tess and never thought to act on his feelings for her. But then he does.
Tess is engaged to be married to another man. She has always loved Scout, but of course has never told him. she doesnt see him as a option because of his career. Plus she has a secret.
I was not expecting to be so surprised by the secret! it was refreshing.
The emotions written in make you feel like you are experiencing it all first hand. Every fear, every tingle, and every ounce of love is felt.
what a great read!
Scout Steel & Tess Harlow are best friends from high school. Both are successful in their own lives, but Tess has come to town to help Scout with a holographic concert. Each of them is obsessed with the other but neither one thinks the other feels the same way. Scout is finally ready to make the moves on Tess, but there is one complication…she is just weeks away from her wedding!
Scout is over come when she is trying on her wedding dress and he kisses her, but it just upsets Tess because he immediately apologizes which is not what she longs to hear. That is even more upsetting because not only did he cross the line, he makes her feel like he regretted it. Will she ever tell him how she wishes it were him that she would spend the rest of her life with?
This is an amazing story with so many twists and turns that are so unexpected. It was a fantastic read.
There is a shocking twist that she has been hiding from everyone and revealing it will destroy her.

I love a best friends turn lovers romance. I'm also a sucker for a rock star romance. Other than a couple mentions of Scout being a successful rock star, it wasn't relevant in the story and I wouldn't classify it as a story about a "rock star." Just a warning there. That being said, I still loved the story and I will definitely be reading more from this author.
Scout and Tess have been best friends for years each with secret lingering feelings for the other. Timing has always been off, one of them always in a relationship so they never explored their feelings for each other. Now Tess is engaged and Scout is having a hard time holding back his feelings.
I really loved the chemistry between the two. Scout was protective and loving towards Tess and she worshipped the ground he walked on but issues held them back from loving each other. I loved how supportive Scout was and he totally made me swoon. There's a big secret and once it is revealed, the book kind of turns into something else...in a good way. The second half just got even better. They beautifully help each other to heal open wounds and make themselves whole together.
The witty banter and flirting between them flowed well. But sometimes Scout would say or think something that was pretty over the top. I would read it and think, sorry but that's completely unrealistic and no one thinks or says that, especially not a guy. It wasn't too often but still. I was kind of disappointed in some of their issues because it came down to a lack of communication or indecisiveness that was completely unnecessary. An entire conversation where they are talking about something, have this big important needs-to-be-said thought in their head, don't say it and the other walks away making bad assumptions. I get the need for drama and suspense but I like when an author can do that in more interesting ways rather than falling back on "if I just would've said..."
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This one is a bit of an emotional ride. Scout and Tess are meant to be but the timing was never right. Tess is very stubborn and at times was not very likeable in her lack of maturity. One of the most fun aspects of the writing was the banter between the MCs. It alluded to a deeper connection that was definitely seen as leading to more. The loving was hot as heck once they got to it and the build up was awesome.

After fifteen years of friendship Tess and Scout explore the idea of a relationship, but there is a catch, Tess is engaged to someone else. Scout being the best friend that he is, is trying to support her in this decision, but he is having trouble denying himself his one true love. After a lot of back and forth, these two finally get together. A great connection between these two friends/lovers. Although the banter back and forth between Tess and Scout in the beginning of the story was a bit ridiculous and hard to understand because of the language that was used, I am glad I stuck with the story because after the first few chapters these two started talking like normal people. This was a great read, would definitely read other books by this author.
