All hail Pepe the world's most heroic and adorable detective. Waverly Curtis's Barking Detective series is fast-paced fun, filled with a wonderful array of talented canines and quirky humans. No animal lover should pass up this adorable cozy mystery series.
In The Silence of the Chihuahuas, Pepe has taken a vow of silence in hopes of making Geri appear more normal. Fortunately for us, he has started his own blog. Unfortunately, Geri is all the more vocal, because Pepe has stopped talking, drawing more attention.
Her best friend Brad has disappeared, and she finds his client dead. The police suspect Brad. Meanwhile Geri's sister has called from a psychiatric facility claiming that someone is trying to kill her. Without the muy clever observations of detective Pepe, Geri is on her own.
Don't worry, Pepe will find a way, after all he is the barking detective.
Waverly Curtis's novels are fun for all ages of animal loving mystery aficionados. The Silence of the Chihuahuas is a funny mystery in which anything can happen, and frequently does. As a bonus, the publisher includes a Christmas short story never released in print - A Chihuahua in Every Stocking. Muy Bueno!

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I loved the cover picture and the description sounded interesting. At first it was a bit hard to follow, however, I believe that's due to the fact I haven't read any earlier books.
Geri Sullivan is an aspiring private investigator and works with her chihuahua Pepe. The unique thing about this story is Geri can understand Pepe when he speaks to her. Unfortunately, everyone thinks Geri is crazy, so in order to protect her, Pepe stops communicating with her. When Geri's best friend disappears, it's up to her to find him. A bizarre phone call from Geri's sister adds to the drama, and of course, Pepe's blog is definitely a fun addition to this humorous story.
The story is well written and the clever story line will leave the reader begging for more.
I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to friends.
How can you not love a book with a talking dog? Well, in this installment of Curtis’s series, Pepe the chihuahua has stopped talking. His owner, P.I. Geri Sullivan is very concerned, she even takes him to the vet to find out why he’s gone silent. That goes about as well as you might imagine and Geri is left to solve her own cases. She’s lost without Pepe’s advice. Good thing, then, that Pepe turns out to be quite a blogger. When a client dies mysteriously, Geri will need all the help she can get from her four legged friend. Suspend disbelief for a while and enjoy this funny, snarky series. I guarantee you’ll love Pepe as much as I do
This is a very fun and light mystery. Pepe, the talking chihuahua, has decided to give Geri the silent treatment. Geri tries everything to get him talking again as she struggles to find her missing friend and solve a murder without Pepe's guidance.
This series has evolved through the books and I like how the characters are becoming more complex. I especially like how Geri and Felix's relationship has progressed and how he has come to view her relationship with the talking Pepe. While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel.
If you are looking for lighthearted fun, you have found it in this book.
