Description

A handsome newcomer with secrets shows a yearning Amish woman a chance at happiness—but their love will need all their courage to keep . . .

Grace Blauch is skilled at midwifery—and crafting quilts that help others pass on messages of enduring family love. But a disfiguring birthmark keeps the young Amish woman from a husband and home of her own—until Mark King arrives from another community. His helpfulness and independent nature earn Grace’s respect. And he finds her outspoken ways and determination to do right irresistibly appealing. Soon Grace is planning a wedding quilt of her very own . . . until her father discovers that Mark’s shunned brother is hiding somewhere in town . . .

Grace can well understand why Mark took such a risk once she hears his wrenching reasons. But she fears even prayer will not convince her father to restore his blessing on their union. She wills herself to face the end of her dreams, but sudden danger and an impossible act of generosity will show her that abiding hope can inspire the most precious of miracles . . .

“A well-crafted historical Amish romance with superb characters who are charming and go that extra mile for those they care about, even if they have to break some of the Amish rules to achieve their goal. Grace is an independent woman in a time where the Amish are expected to be married and caring for a family. She loves the life she has managing an Amish store with her friend Sarah and no regrets that the men she has thought of as relationship material reject her based on one birthmark that makes her who she is not what she is made of. Yet all thoughts of spinsterhood disappear when the new shop owner next door Mark comes to make his introductions. She blushes with the thrill of having such feelings toward a man of great woodworking talent.

Their feelings grow as their faith and beliefs deepen in the community, church, and one another. But there is a problem for Mark that he cannot side step especially when he comes face-to-face with the issue. He has kept his own bruder a secret from everyone since he was shunned for leaving the Amish community and when discovered together Sarah’s father says they can no longer plan a life together as Mark will not follow the church doctrine. But love and faith have a way of working such issues out and with a lot of prayers between them and those surrounding them the bad becomes the glorious and the possibility of a lifetime of love reveals itself for everyone to see.

There are always pockets of hope if you look for them.

I just loved "Grace's Forgiveness" because we all have had our faith tested and we all have had to give someone forgiveness. I loved that I felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing the same things as they were during the story. Molly Jebber is on my list of authors to look for. I plan to read more of her books in the future, for her characters are well developed and her story line is easy to follow while reading.

I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. No money was exchanged. This is my honest review in my own words.
