Mercury Striking

Mercury Striking is the first novel in Rebecca Zanetti Scorpius Syndrome series an intense post-apocalyptic romantic suspense that I devoured. Zanetti is an author I have meaning to try. When I saw this was a new series in a post-apocalyptic setting, I knew it was fate. Action packed, with strong alpha males and snarky, intelligent women Zanetti started this series off with a bang.

A friend recommended I read Scorpius Rising, Scorpius Syndrome #0.5 before beginning this series. The novella is part of an anthology called On the Hunt. When I saw it also contained a novella from Dianne Duvall, it became a no-brainer. While it is not necessary and shares the story of another couple, it did give me a solid footing into the world. For 1.99 it is worth snagging.

Breakdown of Mercury Striking

World: An outbreak caused by bacteria has killed most of the population. Survivors come in all forms and not all of them are good for the future of humanity. Jax Mercury is a troubled solider who sets up a stronghold in L.A. protecting the weak. Lynn Harmony is a wanted woman who risks everything to ask Jax for help. Lynn may hold the key to the cure. L.A. is broken up into territories ruled by groups who do not have the kind of honor code Jax’s holds himself and his people too. The climate is brutal, and the need for supplies high. It created an intense world with page-turning, heart-stopping action.
The characters: We spend most of our time in and around the compound Jax has created .He, his soldiers and civilians work together to survive another day. Zanetti did a wonderful job of introducing the characters. Key characters were fleshed out and secondary characters were given enough depth to allow us to feel a part of the unit. She created villains you will love to hate; some in warring territories and other are far-reaching and powerful enemies. Jax is confident, strong, and intelligent. He is one hundred percent alpha. Small talk is not his foray, but when he does, it is powerful. I really enjoyed Lynn. She has been through some shit, but is tough-as-nails, with a brilliant mind. She does not whine and she is not afraid to stand up for herself or say, “I am in over my head.” A little orphan was unique and I am anxious to see what role she plays in the overall arc. We also meet the next hero and heroine and already I am dying for their story.
The plot: In Mercury Striking Lynn needs Jax Mercury’s help with two things. First finding a site that may hold the key to the cure and second she needs him to kill someone. Being witness to these two feel each other out, learn to trust and become comrades was intense and satisfying. The romance was slow building and started with primal need before blossoming into something deeper. The overall arc is established and I can already tell the road ahead will have obstacles, danger and excitement.

Mercury Striking delivered an intense, high action tale with a sizzling hot romance that weaved in tender moments. Zanetti succeeded in making care about the characters in this world and I am invested in hearing all of their stories to the end.

Yuppi! I'm very happy to announce that Rebecca Zanetti is back with a new and entertaining series that brings me back to the good old times when The Dark Protectors where at their beginning! Mercury striking is a fast paced novel settled in a near future where an epidemic destroys the world as we know it and causing the death or the changing for the worse of the 99% of the world population. Then we met Lynn of the blue heart, Jax without heart at all, and a very nice and big cast of characters. Now I have to wait for the second installation in September, and it would be a long and hard wait....

Mercury Striking è una storia molto intensa con un buon ritmo dove, in un futuro non troppo lontano, un'epidemia si é portata via il 99% delle persone alcune delle quali sarebbero state meglio da morte. Incontriamo poi Lynn dal cuore blu, Jax che il cuore proprio non ce l'ha e tutto un cast di vari personaggi che ci rimarranno nel cuore. Adesso sono obbligata ad aspettare settembre per il secondo volume e sará una lunga e tormentosa attesa.

The struggle to survive is real. Really makes you stop and think about what life would be like if a disease killed off most of the population of the United States.
An excellent story about a man trying to save the people under his care while also trying to help the woman he's fallen for find a cure. A woman who may or may not hold the key to keeping the human race from extinction. I was completely held captive by the story and the characters. Once I started, I couldn't put it down!
I can't wait to read the next installment!!

Zanetti really knows how to open a story- my attention was grabbed right away and was held until the last page. Steamy, sexy, and well plotted, the first book in the Scorpius Syndrome series has an intriguing premise that will easily pull readers through future books.
My only complaint- I'm now dying to get my hands on the next book, while this one isn't officially coming out for another month!

Lynn Harmony, the woman also known as Blue Heart knows that she needs to find Jax Mercury in order to stay alive. After walking into his camp of survivors she knows that she has to earn his trust in order to be able to do what she came for. Find a way to stabilze B in everyone's system if she can't find a cure.

Anyone who is a fan of Apocolyptic books will fall in love with this riveting and vivacious series of survivors. You'll find yourself not being able to sleep at night hoping to finish one more chapter. This book will suck you in and leave you waiting on bated breath for the next book.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance mixed in with the perfect amount of apocolyptic atmosphere.

Not fluffy, sighworthy sugar coated ladyporn. That's for sure. And THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT! What an exceptionally cool book! I'm beyond impressed. Totally nails the balance between post apocalyptic zombieland/sexy alpha heroes. That has to be the niftiest skill an author can have. You've made two things that are diametrically opposed (serial killing cannibals and passionate humping) and turned them into something amazing. I couldn't put it down.

Talk about a post-apocalyptic romance that is bold, passionate, dark, edgy, action-packed, and freaking thrilling! Mercury Striking is and was the most delicious and suspenseful romance from Miss Zanetti as of yet! Jax is freaking the epitome of masculine and a true alpha male. He had MY knees weak and had me aching just for him to be real. Lynn is one tough woman herself. Everyone that knows of her, is pretty freaking terrified that she is carrying an even deadlier virus with her blue heart. She is so alone and being hunted and seeks protection from Jax. Oh, he definitely knows she is hiding something and it becomes clear that he takes NO CRAP, but he can't seem to help being drawn to this lonely and lost woman.

The romance freaking sizzled. It is as passionate and mouth-watering good as the romance we see in Zanetti's Dark Protector Series. I freaking ADORE this new series she created. Its perfectly dark, yet sexy enough, and full of the kind of action that us thrill seekers are looking for. Now the sex is HOT enough to both singe you, and soothe at the same time. I can't imagine a world that would be more scary, and yet intriguing after the apocalypse, that Miss Zanetti forged in this new book. Perfectly deadly yet adds hope where you think hope is lost. I am officially addicted to this book, and want the next one, like yesterday!

Mercury Striking will steal your very breath, and leave you both panting for more, and on the edge of your seats with your nails bitten down to the quick. I couldn't put the book down. The characters are amazing and the writing is beyond phenomenal. Its a story that will rise to the top on the first week of release, no doubt!
