Do you enjoy untypical coming-of-age stories? Well, you won’t find one more untypical than Princess Moxie. Moxie is an obnoxious, teen-age princess who has never been outside her father’s castle. Until now. The real world is quite different and she struggles to come to grips with its reality. Moxie leaves the castle to learn how to live and survive on her own. Along the way, she has a number of adventures and learns how to handle weapons. She also learns her uncle has betrayed her and has tried to have her killed a few times. The uncle also seizes the throne when Moxie’s father dies. Moxie now has to decide whether to walk away from her dream of becoming a queen or to fight for the throne.
The story takes place against a backdrop of Camelot, but this Camelot is in a parallel universe. So don’t expect to read about the traditional tales.

Reviews for Moxie’s Problem:
Author and lecturer Hank Quense’s Moxie's Problem is the sixth novel by this gifted writer who has crafted some incredibly enjoyable stories. It is a satirical novel about an obnoxious princess who has never been outside her father’s castle. As someone who never stepped outside, Princess Moxie is aghast to discover that the life she leads inside the castle is quite different to the life outside, and this sets her thinking. —The Review Notes
What makes this story so funny is just how weird it is. Instead of grand scale battles, they play soccer. And instead of Moxie being a blushing damsel in distress, she's super annoying and even kind of ugly (I think I recall one scene where someone says they wouldn't kiss her because she has hair on her face!), so it's a nice switch-up of the tropes that we're all familiar and mostly tired of. But here's the thing. Moxie ISN'T annoying the entire story, and I think that's where this book shines the most. Even with all the humor with the other characters, what I think I like best about this book is Moxie's growth. By the end of the story, she's not the same character that she was in the beginning, which shows the true calling card of a master writer. It's incredible that I grew to like her toward the end of the book. —Amazon Customer
Reviews for Moxie’s Decision:
This story is full of characters we all know from history and art and books and and and... smooshed into an awesome parody that was for me, a bit hard to get into, however, the book somehow works because of the authors amazing way of intertwining and creating a story. Fun read especially for someone who loves parody's or for the kid at heart (or for real!) —Marisa Slusacyk
Moxie’s Decision (Princess Moxie) is the amusing fantasy sequel to Moxie’s Problem by Hank Quense, which I also reviewed. The story is a terrific conclusion and is just as entertaining as Book One, which I recommend reading first. Moxie, who was accustomed to getting her own way and annoyed everyone with her constant nagging, has matured a great deal. She still shows a bit of the haughtiness that makes her stand out and is one of my favourite characters. Hank Quense takes readers into a satirical version of King Artie’s Camelot with tongue-in-cheek humour and colourful characters. Queen Gwenevere and her buxom cheerleaders’ antics will keep you laughing, so will Merlin’s mind-reading tests. The author writes exceedingly well, is very imaginative and I want to read more of his books. —Michelle Stanley
