Crushed Love Well Shaken

Bert, 4F and gimpy, desires June, the married woman down the hall in his rooming house in 1943. Her husband is away at war and missing in action. Bert works as a clerk in the town butcher shop. In the depths of this emotional poverty, a red, hot blonde steps into his life with an offer he can’t refuse. Gracie, the grandniece of Bert’s landlady, is pregnant with her married supervisor’s child. She needs someone to save her reputation. He marries Gracie.

As Bert comes home after work his first night married, he finds that June and Gracie are co-workers and friends at the textile mill in town. Bert decides he has to find a way to love them both.

Bob Young is the author of the historical romance novels, 'When Loved Shaped Us' (December 2013, Class Act Books) and 'Crushed Love Well Shaken' (July 2015, Class Act Books); and is currently working on a third, 'Escaping Jeremy' (Releasing January 2016). Bob enjoys playwriting in addition to writing fiction. Recently he produced a one-act operetta with musician Heidi Surprenant. The plan to publish it in 2016. An avid gardener, he has terraced and planted the front face of his property. As an athlete and the father of Meghann, Brendan, Rosie, and Graham, he has coached and cheered his children through their school athletics. Bob, himself, is cheered on by his partner for 25 years, Shari. His father, Bob, Sr., was a master printer; his mother, Betty, a school secretary. Bob attended Neshaminy High School, Muhlenberg College, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary (Philadelphia, PA). He holds a certificate in Desk Top Publishing from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Bob confesses he is “a thesis short of a Masters in Theatre” from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI). His play, Power in the Cross, was published by the Division for Parish Services, Lutheran Church in America.
