This book should be included in a package whenever someone buy a dog. Simple and fun to read, with eye-catching illustrations, this book covers most of the do and don't of dog ownership, tips and sensible information as well as problem solving. A lot is common sense, but from what I have seen, sense isn't always common. The illustrations are very well done, and they draw you into reading the information, written for the American audience, it has some gaps re poisonous bites, but most of the remedies are universal regarding treatment, it should not deter anyone buy it. This is more a preventative book rather than cure book, but I do like the part on the Heimlich for a chocking dog.
FOR DOG'S SAKE! by Amy Luwis is a wonderful guide for protecting your faithful pet from things that he doesn't always understand to himself. Arranged out in an inclusive but highly understandable manner, the book lays out the many dangers facing a dog in his daily life. All kinds of hidden dangers are discussed, as well as emergency first aid for when it's needed.
Wonderfully illustrated, this is the most comprehensive guide of this type I've ever read. Better yet, a portion of the proceeds of this book goes to Adopt-A-Pet. Not only a great read, but a worthwhile charity. A win-win for the reader!.
For Dog's Sake is an adorable and informative book that every dog owner needs in their home. The book goes over what is normal for a healthy dog and what is not. What to look for in poisoning, the scoop on poop, prescription dangers, household dangers and prevention, plants - poisonous ones and not, outdoor dangers (there is more than I would have thought ), toxic foods, bones, allergies, Holiday safety, and CPR. There is so much stuffed in this book and lots of delightful drawings on each page showing the animals acting out the scenes, it is so cute! I did learn a lot, especially on the poisonous plants and foods. I would encourage anyone, regardless of how many years you have owned a dog, or how much you think you know about dogs, to get his book. I have owned dogs for all my life and know dog safety, and as a nurse I am educated in human safety, but this old lady still learned a lot from this book! I received this book for a honest review and it in no way effected my rating or content of my review.
For Dog’s Sake is a quick read with fun, goofy illustrations, and would be a great book for every first-time dog owner. The main purpose of the book is to help the dog’s new humans help keep the dog out of trouble, and so it covers everything from what dogs shouldn’t eat to how to recognize some common ailments and what to do about them. The one thing this book doesn’t include is a training guide, so those new to dogs would be advised to join an obedience class and buy a separate book for training.
This book should be in every home where they either own or are considering owning a dog. It is not a children's book in my opinion, although it could be used by children with adult supervision.
This is a simple and fun to readbook. There are eye-catching illustrations and it covers most of the dos and don'ts of dog ownership,. There are tips and sensible information as well as problem solving. There are a lot of things discussed that could be dangerous to dogs such as poisonous plants, food that will make dogs ill, and the favourite of most children, how to tell is there is something wrong with your dog by looking at his/her poo. The illustrations draw you into reading the information on the page. Most of the remedies are universal regarding treatment and most are common sense. This is more of a preventative book rather than cure book which is what owners of pets need. I really did like the section about using the Heimlich for a choking dog. I had never seen that illustrated before.
Nicely illustrated and simply stated, this book is nevertheless awfully comprehensive list of possible dangers to your dog in the everyday environment, I'm not sure whether to rush out and buy this or to pretend I never saw it and return to ignorant bliss. Truly a scary volume!
This is a wonderful informative books on dogs! I loved all the information that was presented in a very interactive way. All the doggie illustrations are a plus! This is definitely a book that would be great for any dog parent or soon to be dog parent!
For Dog's Sake is a must-read book for all dog guardians. It is beautifully organized and illustrated (including a complete index) and is a treasure trove of information that humans need to know. Many of us never stop to think how many everyday essentials in OUR lives can be potentially dangerous to our canine friends.
Poisoning is a very real danger in dogs' lives. Even if it only cause minor discomfort, we all need to know what people (and pet) foods to avoid sharing and be alert to warning signs that may indicate the need for treatment.
Indoors and out, this book provides many insights into keeping our pets safe. Health and safety is everything for our furry friends.
This book will make a wonderful gift for family and friends. I highly recommend it!

With its hilarious illustrations and pertinent information, Amy Luwis's For Dog's Sake is a must have for any pet owner. Whether you have only just adopted your pet or are a long-term dog owner, you will benefit from reading For Dog's Sake. Best of all, the content is presented in a form that will be understood and remembered by readers of all ages. (Great for kids and adults)
Dogs, like children are curious and adventurous, but there are plenty of dangers that we are often unaware of. From poisonous plants to everyday items, Amy Luwis shows the dangers and offers suggestions. She even shows how to give your dog the Heimlich maneuver - a must for those with ball crazy dogs. The hilarious illustrations make the book fun to read, and the information is presented in a way that makes access during an emergency quick and easy.
For Dog's Sake is a terrific reference and a great gift for any dog owner in your life.

This book is excellent. It has everything a kid needs to know about taking care of their dogs with lots of bright, fun illustrations to grab their attention. The dogs in the illustrations are so charming that even my dogless, dog lovers will love this book.
This really is a must for all new and existing dog owners. There is a lot of good information in this book, I have lived with and had dogs for over 30 years but still found I learnt things from this book - in my view, for those new to owning dogs it should be an essential purchase and will give you peace of mind too as a lot of questions are answered
