Description
An Epic
Sword and Sorcery Opera
Dreams show us what we desire.
Faith shows us what we believe.
War shows us what we are capable of.
The Dragon
Star
The same dream shared by thousands each night. The birth of a new star and a
new religion. A prophet leading a pilgrimage of believers toward their new god
in the Forbidden Realm.
It can only end in war.
Realms of
Shadow and Grace — The Series
A world-engulfing war witnessed through seven story arenas and presented in
seven self-contained episodes. Every episode focuses on a primary and secondary
story arena with each of the other story arenas making a brief
appearance.
The Temple ― Junari, a priest, abandons her temple and her faith to become the prophet of a new religion as she leads a pilgrimage following the new star across hostile nations and a vast ocean in search of the new goddess who speaks in her dreams and through her voice.
The Throne ― Tin-Tsu, a prince turned monk, must avoid death at the hands of unseen assassins as he assumes the throne of a dominion breaking under the weight of decades of sectarian religious war with its neighbor.
The Seer ― Kellatra, a woman able to perceive the true nature of reality and bend it to her will, finds herself in possession of a mysterious book written in an unknown language and pursued by those who will kill to possess it.
The Fugitives ― Sha-Kutan, a man hiding from his dark past, finds himself protecting a woman and a young girl from a band of soldiers intent on killing them both for reasons they do not understand.
The Philosopher ― Sketkee, a scholar from a reptilian species called the rakthor, travels with a band of pilgrims as she carries a stolen ancient mechanical artifact to the Forbidden Realm, hoping to find the clues that will unlock its secrets.
The Carnival ― Yeth, Karak, and Shifhuul, three non-human scouts from three different realms, travel with a carnival until they must abandon their mission to uncover the meaning of the human dreams when they are caught between the armies of the sectarian religious war.
The Witness ― Ondromead, an incredibly old man who cannot die, awakens each day in a different place in the world, drawn inexplicably to important people and events that he diligently records in a small, leather-bound book that always contains another empty page.
Pilgrims and priests ― thieves and fugitives ― kings and generals ― all find their lives irrevocably altered as they ask the same question: Will the new goddess truly appear, and what will happen if she does?
The Dragon Star is 800 pages of epic fantasy adventure and includes a hyperlinked Miscellany of Fragments and Artefects (a cultural glossary ― including artwork), two full color maps, and a hyperlinked gazetteer of the world. Additionally, the chapters of the novel are hyperlinked to allow the reader to separately follow individual story arenas as well as individual character storylines.
