Creepy or romantic?
Oh honey, go back to bed!
Wow, she left her home country at thirteen? I'm 29, and hated living an hour away for college.
That must have been so scary.
Doctors don't know everything.
The poor thing! And her poor husband. Imagine having to remind your wife where she is all the time.
Who did she stay with when she came to America?
Her father sounds delightful. Not.
So hot.
She doesn't even remember their wedding?
She's a better mother than she knows.
This book reminds us that love is a very strong and powerful thing. Reading this, I felt sympathy for what this family is going through. The sex scenes were pretty good. This was story was kind of heartbreaking. I could feel their pain caused by her accident and memory issues , especially when it came to their son and the incident. I could't imagine having to through what she went through every day. She was a strong woman for still fighting every day. I really admired and liked the hero in this book because of how hard he fought for her,his son, and for their love. He made sure she was taken care of and protected, but still was able to be independent. I loved his gift to her at the end. This was a sad story, but a good one.
The bonus book, Take Me, Cowboy, was a good read as well. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
This book was an emotional roller-coaster! My only complaint was that it was too short!
Knowing our limitations does not mean never taking a chance. Life is full of curve balls, roadblocks that no one expects to happen but does the risk outweigh the reward? The Tycoon's Forced Bride by Jane Porter explores this very question. Ava is a character that is haunting. Her plight sticks in the mind and raises the question of how I would handle it if I was faced with a similar situation. Ava was so focused on the life she lost that she neglected to consider the life she still had. Her idea of perfection was who she used to be not who she currently was. What touched me is that there were so many times that Colm could have given up and walked away but he stayed because his love for her was stronger than any obstacle. This was story that had me teary eyed but it also left me with a better understanding of the issues people with traumatic brain injuries face and the healing power of love. Hat's off to Jane Porter. I received an ARC of this inspiring and romantic read in exchange for an honest review.
The Tycoon's Forced Bride by Jane Porter was a heart-rending story about Malcolm and Ava, a businessman and a ballet dancer, and their struggle through a horrifying accident and the after-effects. The title really doesn't apply, because Colm never forced her to wed. The characters were complex and well-written. You'll feel elated when you get to their HEA. The story makes you remember that sometimes, saying the words counts as well as showing in many different ways that you love and care. I will read more from Jane Porter.

A short and very intense read, “The Tycoon's Forced Bride” by Jane Porter seemed to have been written with the East Coast storm system in mind. I was reading it when New York was being battered by a blizzard and guess what? Malcolm McKenzie and Ava Galvan, the protagonists in the story are living in Manhattan and they left the city for St. Bart’s right before a big snowstorm hit. What a coincidence!
Aside from the weather which helped by the way for me to fully appreciate why Colm and Ava had to abscond to the Caribbean, the story is fierce and passionate. Ava who has partial amnesia does not remember loving Colm but her body recognizes him on a physical level.
Though three years had passed since the accident with Ava only remembering bits and pieces about it and not enough to make a coherent story, she has a certain level of distrust towards Colm. But, how can that be? They have a child together. They must have been in love at some point in time, right?
“The Tycoon's Forced Bride” is actually a novella. Short as it is, it actually packed a punch. Jane Porter did not mince words as she fleshed out the main characters and the important secondary ones. From the first page to the last, you can feel the tension which by the way is truly palpable when Colm and Ava are together.
Reading this during a cold winter day can heat up your blood. The steamy scenes between Colm and Ava can bring even the subzero temperature to sizzling.
4 "homecoming" stars
Ava's life as Manhattan Ballet principal ballerina has been shattered by a car accident. She fell into a coma and has suffered since from its after-effects, severe memory loss and dizziness. After years of therapy, she feels broken and has walked away from those who love her.
But one man refuses to give up on her : her husband, Malcolm. In business life, he always gets what he wants, in his private life, things have not been easy for him since Ava's accident. He made mistakes and has paid for them. He is determined to be patient and figure out a way to start again as a family.
I enjoyed this bittersweet and emotional story of second chance. The title doesn't do it justice though, nothing is "forced" in Malcolm's behaviour towards Ava. I loved both characters, my only complaint is that the story was too short and could have been developped more. I give it 4 solid stars.

4.5 Stars!
Jane Porter has another heartfelt winner with The Tycoon's Forced Bride. This is a gripping and emotional novella that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I recommend keeping a box of tissues handy, because shedding a tear or two is very likely.
Ava Galvan was born to be a ballet dancer. By the age of twenty-three, she was a principal with The Manhattan Ballet. She loved her life because she was living out her dream. Then one night tragedy struck, and she lost her ability to dance, in addition to her short term memory. Her injuries were severe and she was lucky to be alive. Today she leads a very lonely and structured existence. She still has dance in her life, but now she is a teacher. Her notebook is her lifeline, and each and every day she painstakingly writes about the world around her, which she reviews constantly. Her notebook is her link to the present, while the past is still a part of her. Right before her accident she and her boyfriend had a heated argument, and he has lived with tremendous guilt ever since.
Heeding the advice of the medical professionals, business tycoon Malcolm McKenzie has stayed out of Ava's life for almost a year. Now that she is stronger, he believes it is finally time for her to return to both him and their young son. Malcolm convinces her to leave the bitter cold of New York City, and spend some time with him on his estate in the Carribean.
The chemistry between Ava and Malcolm remains amazingly steamy. Logan is a true alpha in the bedroom and Ava turns into mush with each and every caress, kiss and embrace. She slowly lets down her guard and allows Malcolm take care of her and love her. Their discussions clear the past, which enables them to pursue a bright new future.
I never pass up an opportunity to read a book by Ms. Porter. This novella is replete with discovery, forgiveness, desire and love. Ms. Porter is an excellent storyteller, and her words, three-dimensional characters and engaging plot kept me enthralled. If you enjoy a novel with a strong heroine and a hero that just won't give up, then check out this touching read. Overall, this is an exciting book that twists and turns in all the right places.

A heart-breakingly sweet story about the tough road to recovery and how traumatic events affect your life. Ava has been through a life-changing accident and since then nothing as been the same. Not her body, nor her passion for ballet. Not even her mind is the same. Malcolm has been with her every step of the way, even behind the scenes he has helped her in more ways than she knows. But she can't be what he needs. She can't be a mother to their child. This story is about how unfailing support, love, and patience can help overcome even the most difficult of hurdles and obstacles.
When it comes to true love, one man won’t let anything get in his way.
Malcolm McKenzie wanted the best for Ava Galvan. He set her up in an apartment and got her a job teaching ballet. He arranged for her to be watched and taken care of every minute of her day.
Ava was Malcolm's wife and the mother of his son. Ava remembered their son Jack, but she didn't remember marrying Malcolm. Now Malcolm has set out to get Ava back and he will stop at nothing until she is his once again.
Ava had once been Manhattan Ballet’s principal ballerina. She was loved and adored for her grace, talent, and beauty, until a terrible accident left her with severe pain and memory loss. She prefers to live each day with the routines and doesn't like any changes. When Malcolm decides he wants to take Ava to St Bart's for a weekend, she hesitates, but agrees in the end. Will Ava finally be able to remember why they were so good together and give in to Malcolm’s request of a second chance at a life together? Or will the change in her routine be too much for her to handle?
I really liked Ava and my heart went out to her. She desperately wanted to remember the past and be a good wife and mother, but her fears held her back. The story had a lot of details that made it feel very real and it was full of passion and emotion. It is an all-around great romance story.
Ava, a former ballerina now teacher, had a horrible accident one night after she and Malcolm got into a heated argument about her pregnancy. Malcolm put her in a taxi and the next thing he knew his world changed. Ava suffered a traumatic brain injury and once left her son Jack at a shopping mall without any memory of it. Luckily nothing happened to him and Malcolm was able to get him unharmed. After that night Ava went to New York to be by herself and rest.
After thirteen months, Malcolm went to Ava in hopes of reconnecting his family. Ava and Malcolm went away to an island and reconnected. Malcolm finally was able to convince Ava of his love for her and they became a family once more.
I liked that this book was short and to the point. There is also a bonus short story that is good as well. Great read. Look forward to reading other books by this author.
To start I really enjoyed this story. But its a Novella, I did not feel it was too short it just is important to know there is a Murietta story after this story at the 50% mark .
I wanted to read this story because I was intrigued by a story where a wife remembered her son but not her husband. Ava is the heroine in this story and she is a very strong but also vulnerable heroine.
3 years ago she was a pregnant ballerina dancer with her lovers child. She was in love with Colm and she was very excited but when she told him she was 5 months along he felt trapped and so they have a big fight. He sends her home in a cab but it crashes. She is in a coma and when she comes out she can't even walk, has scars and suffers from memory loss. 13 months before this story starts, Jack (the baby), Colm and Ava are living as a family and Ava leaves her baby and she can't remember where. Once they find Jack she leaves because she loves her child too much to hurt him again.
Meanwhile Colm wants Ava back and this book is about him claiming her. I loved that he was very alpha though also kind and loving with Ava. He loves his child and his wife. Though for most of the book Ava doesn't know they are married. Ava's issues don't just go away, they take serious work and she has real concerns about her ability to be in jack's life.
I really enjoyed this novella and found it a very original love story.

I was given this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the story-line. This was a very real story. I love that even though Ava couldn't remember things sometimes her body always recognized Malcolm! I love that. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a great love story and wants to believe that love conquers all. Enjoy!
A quick story that I could not put down. How your life changes in an instant. Ava had a wonderful life as a ballerina and great love life with Malcolm, an argument will change everything in an instant. Ava now has a short term memory deficit, and now Malcolm will fight for his love to Ava.
This is a novella but is packed full of an emotional story and plenty of romance. I highly recommend this book!! I received this book from netgalley for an honest reveiw.
Plus as an added bonus you get, Take Me, Cowboy. Copper Mountain Rodeo that takes place in Marietta, Montana. Who can resist a cowboy story.
A sad story about loss that is revisited everyday as small pieces of memory fade and are regained. It was a well put together story up until the end. and then all of a sudden the end seemed rushed!
I didn't quite understand it- why did his ex-wife turn up in the last few pages when there had been no mention of her before? and what was the purpose of her turning up? It didn't make sense. It felt like the story just ended as if the author had run out of the word count.
The cover and even the title do not do this novella justice. Though the story has a dark side, the bride was never forced. As for me, I fully enjoyed The Tycoon's Forced Bride by Jane Porter from the intriguing beginning to the very end. It had an 80’s feel to it when our heroes were tough and protective, perhaps a bit overly at times. This story had that kind of husband. Malcolm remained faithful even when Ava, his wife couldn’t remember having gotten married.
There is anguish, doubts, regrets and medical issues for these two but also a darling of a little boy to cement their love together. I only wished it had been longer. For the most part the pace is perfect. However, from the confrontation with Eden, the story rushed along to quickly for me. Otherwise it was seamless story from an author who will definitely be on my radar now.
4.5 Stars Copy provided by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.
This was a short story, short of 100 pages. But what a delightful story, this was despite a couple of things I had issues with. The story starts off with out hero, who has quite a bit of money and power but he needs his wife. His wife, Ava a professional dancer, ends up injured in a car accident, and she receives brain damage. Loses her memory at various moments and in one fatal day, their son she forgets about while out shopping. From that moment, she left her husband and son, her heart full of regret and guilt and knowing that she is a danger to her son. Its been a few years now, and her husband has come back for her. Malcolm misses his wife, but his priority is his son. He will do anything for him, and what his son wants and mostly needs is a mother.
Malcolm is a bit of a alpha male but with a mix of a beta, he takes charge when its needs to happen. What was most intriguing was the set up of the story. Seeing a married couple, go through some rough times, and get back together and begin reconnecting with each other. I loved that, and the sweet reunion with her son was quite poignant. I almost cried, it was too sweet. The romance is explosive and not just in the bedroom. They tend to argue (a lot) and to be honest it got a bit too much for me. It seemed a bit repetitive constantly, it was over the same issue. The heroine is so stubborn and prideful. I understand her reasons behind it, and my heart did ache for her as I was reading. But I also admired Malcolm for sticking to his guns, and standing firm against her reasons.
A likeable romance of a journey of guilt, regret and a healing love.

3 More Than the Title Stars * * *
This was a quick novella which had quite a few hurdles for the main characters to over come. In the end they did, but there were serious challenges.
We were treated to a acclaimed ballerina who had a long time relationship without the strings of commitment to a self-made man who always got what he wanted.
He wasn’t crass or evil, just determined and that was part of his charm. She was equally determined to be the best and was....and when they were together....everything fit.
What both of them didn't count on was her falling in love with him and becoming pregnant. When she shares this news, he flashes back to a past she knows nothing about accusing her of trying to trap him and not wanting the baby.
Next the worst thing happens for the both of them...her cab is hit and she is severely injured. She is rushed to the hospital and somehow she is saved and so is the unborn child.
The set up is now years later. She is struggling to live a life. She has been stripped of her ability to dance....but she can teach. She has to deal with Brain Trauma...meaning short term memory loss, long term memory loss and a sense of not feeling like who she was.
He wants her back where he feels she belongs; she needs to be with him and her son Jack. Only problem is she fears she will hurt them both.
This story brought to light the complexities of this type of injury....how it impacts both the one trying to handle the recovery....but also those who love them.
It covered alot for a quick read.

A quick short read reminding How life changes in an instant and how it is beyond every plan
When I read this title I thought "Oh, rich guy forces pretty girl to marry him" kind of story, I could not be more wrong.
The story follows Malcolm McKenzie (aka Colm) who is married to Ava Galvan, only problem is that after a horrible accident she suffers from memory problems and she doesn't remember saying "I do" to Malcolm.
What made the story really sad was that Malcolm and Ava had a son, little Jack and because Ava had a lot of health problem she really couldn't really be with her son.
The story was a really sweet second chance romance and the things Malcolm does to get Ava to fall in love with him again, so sweet.
The only problem with the story for me was that we see very little interaction between Ava and little Jack and a big part of the story was Malcolm trying to bring his wife home and reunite the family.
This is an emotional read with lots of drama. Ava suffered a horrible accident and due to a brain injury she has short term memory issues and severe pain. Jack wants his mother and Malcolm is determined to get his wife back. The characters are amazing and the story had me hooked from beginning to end. Loved it!
Ava was a ballerina, already successful and still rising. Ava had a lover named Colm. Then an unexpected pregnancy, a fight, and Ava was in a car accident. Colm married her and Jack was born. But Ava had severe injuries especially the one to her brain which gave her major memory problems. At one point Ava had left Jack as a toddler at a mall and then proceeded to get herself confused and lost. After that, Ava took herself out of Jack’s and Colm’s life. But Colm had been in the background all the time without Avas knowledge. Smoothing the way for Ava anyway he could. Now Colm wants Ava to come home. I loved this story and plot. The characters were just awesome. Especially Colm, who wouldn’t give up. Also all that Ava and Colm went through. I highly recommend.
I'm always quick to pick up a Jane Porter title. It was no different for The Tycoon's Forced Bride. I couldn't wait to see what Porter had in store with Malcolm and Ava.
A forecasted snowstorm in the city gives Colm the perfect opportunity to take Ava away. While away from her structured daily life, Ava has a chance to see what may be possible.
Porter delivers on emotion with The Tycoon's Forced Bride. There's the heartbreak a mother feels, guilt from angry words and actions, and hope for new possibilities. Add in irresistible chemistry and sexy scenes, this read is filled with all the feels.
"The Tycoon's Forced Bride" by Jane Porter is the story of Malcolm McKenzie and Ava Galvan.
Ava is recovering from a life threatening wreck that happened three years ago. She has memory loss and struggles with walking and balance from this accident. The accident caused her to lose her job as an acclaimed ballerina and has also lost her independence.
Malcolm has lots of guilt about the night of the accident. Ava was pregnant with his child which he has raised as a single father.
Ava is improving, but Malcolm is ready to have his family together. He will do whatever he needs to do to get her back.
This was a short read, but wow, it was not missing anything. I loved the things that Malcolm did in order to show Ava his love and to help her to remember the good times they have each day.
This is an emotional, heartbreaking, and heartwarming romance. The author pulls the reader in where you feel the characters pain and happiness. The intimate scenes were intense and sensual. I really enjoyed Malcolm and Ava's story. I look forward reading other books by Jane Porter.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Tule Publishing for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content.
Ava Galvan worked hard for her success in life. In one instant it all changed. Malcolm Makenzie can't forget the argument they had just before he sent Ava home in a taxi, only to receive a call form the hospital that she was clinging to life after an accident...and, she was also pregnant. Their son was born healthy, but her injuries left her in pain, unable to dance, and with a brain injury that affected her short-term memory. After spending time together to make it work, one mistake sends Ava back to New York to try and reclaim her life. Malcolm lets her think he has let her go, while arranging for her job, apartment, and driver to keep an eye on her. Now Jack wants his mother back, and Malcolm wants his wife back, despite her not remembering their wedding day.
Ava is stronger, but still doesn't feel she should be in her son's life, not when she can't remember things that happened from one day to the next without her notebook. Malcolm convinces her to take a vacation with him, and sets out to prove she can be a wife and mother.
Malcolm made mistakes with Ava, and Ava had so much to overcome, but when they took it one day at a time, they started to sort through the things that kept them apart, Ava started to believe in a future that includes her family.
I loved the characters and how they were developed. My heart broke over and over for Ava and all she lost after her accident. The more time we spent with Malcolm, the more human he became and the more I understood him.
This was a novella, and a quick read, easy to get into, and hard to put down until I was done. The story was well-written and I enjoyed it
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this; normally for me, novellas fall short as there is only so much you can cram into a short story. However, unlike most novellas, I didn't feel short changed. This quick read held my interest from the beginning and left me wondering how any couple can overcome the challenges that Ava and Malcolm were forced to face.
Ava and Malcolm had a relationship that for the most part was based on sex; they weren't friends, they didn't talk for hours on the phone - everything was purely sexual. At the time this met both of their needs as they were both incredibly career focused and did not want a traditional relationship. However, everything changes when after dinner one night Ava announces that she is pregnant. Malcolm is very angry with her and places heavy demands on her; Ava is just as angry and they both end up saying things they later regret. Malcolm puts Ava in a cab in an angry fit, before they go their separate ways.
Unfortunately this is when tragedy strikes. Ava's cab is involved in a car accident which leaves Ava in a coma for months, severely injured and leaves Malcolm to care for a premature newborn son. Despite his initial reluctance and anger, Malcolm embraces the role of fatherhood and strives to take care of Ava even though she has lost most of her memory.
This is a story about a man who is so in love with a woman that he spares no expense to ensure she has everything she could possibly want and need. But eventually it isn't enough; Malcolm wants Ava to be part of his family with their son Jack. This is a story about a young mother who is so fearful of hurting her son that she completely shuts herself out from being a part of his life.
Very emotional read; despite the shortness of the book the author manages to give real depth to the characters and the situation they are dealing with.
This was one of the first books that I couldn't get through. I was absolutely frustrated at the presentation of the traumatic brain injury. As someone who knows about TBIs, the inconsistencies in symptoms and her treatment made it impossible to read.
This will probably be a short review as the story itself was fairly short.
What I liked was the fact that the premise was a little different that what I'm used to. The heroine has suffered through a horrific accident that has left her fragile and slowly healing with a substantial amount of memory loss and issues with short term memory as well. It was to the point that she doesn't fully remember the man she loved (still loves) and her small son. An incident involving her son pushed her over the edge into making a decision where she gave them both up due to her being unfit to parent and be part of a relationship.
However, the hero kept watch on her from afar. He made sure she was taken care of without her knowing and without taking away her sense of independence. He stayed away for as long as possible until he felt she had had enough time to get better and work on herself. He wanted her back in his life and their son's life.
I have to say that I did really like reading this story. The writing was good, the characters had depth to them and their story was able to be told in a short amount of time. I enjoyed the angst-y feel of it quite a bit.
My only small issue was probably the title. It is very misleading in that it doesn't ring entirely true to the story. I would say that I did not get the vibe of anyone or anything being forced. A little reluctant maybe and having the need to be pushed slightly, but not forced. The title comes off a little too strong but I guess that it was necessary to grab the reader's attention.

The book picks up in the present and we learn along the way about what happened several years ago to create a separation between Ava and Colm. Ava was hurt in a car accident after a fight with Colm the night she told him she was pregnant. Physically she can no longer be a ballerina and mentally she frequently loses her short term memory. She didn't always remember she was a mother and at one point left her 2 year old son in a shopping center. Ava has a lot of doubts about her capabilities as a mother (from herself as well as Colm when he was angry), so she's been living away from them for the past 13 months. Colm has decided it's time to bring his family back together. The book takes place over a short time when he takes her away to his Caribbean home and talk about the good and bad. We learn little pieces of their relationship before the accident and after. There's a somber tone to the book and you feel for both sides of the story as there is no simple or easy solution. The novella is told from dual points of view and is a standalone.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Tule Publishing for an honest review.
A business magnate feels deep guilt after an accident involving the mother of his child causes her to lose both her memory and her career as a ballerina. Raising their child on his own, he waits for her to regain her strength and memories so he can finally unite them together as a family.
This novella showcases everything I like in a story.
Love, forgiveness are the forefront and I loved it - should you also enjoy a heroine who's strong and a hero who just won't give up... you will devour this sweet touching read from start to finish.
Ava, principal Ballerina in New York but after her bad car accident, she wasn't who she was any more. She is struggling to live with physical pain and lost of memories hunted her. She couldn't function without a notebook where she keeps record of all her activities.
She doesn't remember she was married to Scottish tycoon Malcolm. She remembers bit and pieces of night of accident but she can't really pinpoint what went wrong.
Malcolm has been keeping a distance from Ava so she would regain her memory and doctors recommend that she goes back to life she remembers. In her vivid memory of Ava leaving her son in a busy mall and she feels responsible for that accident and she is afraid she will repeat.
Malcolm couldn't wait for Ava back his life and his sons's life but Ava won't give in easy. Her life in New York was carefully orchestrated by Malcolm but she didn't know. When he offers a vacation with her, she hesitantly accepts.
While they were in Vacationing in warmer climate, Malcolm is slowly trying to win her back and bring the family back together. But their accident heavy in the air and every time they discuss that night, they run in circles. Both feeling guilty about that night and Ava can't keep her memories straight.
Will they finally find their happiness and become a family again??
It was great read about struggles and love.
