Description
Piper guides us through the difficulties of racial sin, turning us to the gospel as our source of a common bloodline. Through Christ’s blood, race and ethnicity become secondary for a common people of God.
Advance Praise
In Piper's new book Bloodlines he dives into the race issue that has plagued our world and nation for so long. He begins by drawing from his past in Greenville, SC during the times of de-segregation and tells how racism affected him. His personalizing of this issue does a wonderful job of drawing the reader in before he gets to the real meat of the book. He then discusses the black-white issue in America since this is the race issue that hit most close to home in our day. He addresses issues on both sides and does a wonderful job of tying the gospel in. After all, at the end of the day personal accountability and social action do little for spiritual change unless the person is confronted with the gospel and their own sinfulness and need for forgiveness. The gospel is not a story that is limited to one people group but is good news to both Jew and Gentile and we should always remember this when dealing with people who are different than us. Very thought provoking book and a joy to read.
