Carrying Mason

What does it mean to lay down your life for a friend? That may be a distant concept for most girls ages 9-12, but for thirteen-year-old Luna, it becomes an important question. In this historical, literary novel for tween girls, the power of friendship and faith come to the forefront when Luna's best friend, Mason, dies. Luna moves in with Mason's mentally disabled mother, Ruby Day, in an effort to honor her friend's memory, but when Mason's great-aunt shows up and tries to move Ruby Day into a mental institution, Luna will need to draw on every ounce of willpower to keep Mason's mother close. She discovers that knowing how to skin a rabbit, hot to gut a fish, and where to pick the perfect wildflowers may not be quite enough. Luna may need to learn how to say good-bye.
