This book was WONDERFUL!!! Granted I am going to give the caveat that I am completely obsessed with mushrooms, be it stalking them for spore prints or photography, they are one of my favorite parts of forest rambles. Mushrooms of the Redwood Coast has everything you need for a good book on mushrooms: a good key, easy to navigate division of mushrooms, and wonderfully clear photos. When you are covering such a specialized region (and let's be honest, the west coast is such a diverse region for fungi, there is a reason that so many mushroom hunters vacation there...same as in spring people traveling to the Ozarks for Morels) it is good to be as clear and concise as possible, and this book succeeds.
Even if you don't live in the region, this book has a lot of mushrooms you would find in the rest of the country, so if you are an east coast mushroom lover you would be doing yourself a favor getting this book...because it is not like mushroom lovers stop wanting beautiful guides to their favorite subject!
